Ways to Wear a Blue Maxi Dress

Blue Maxi Dress Outfits for the Summer

Ohhhh, you KNOW I love these maxi dresses!  These are among my summer staples. I’ve not only worn them as go-to’s each summer for several YEARS, but I’ve collected more each year because I love them THAT much!  I started with a blue printed one, then got the black one, and this year I caved and got the blue one. I have ZERO regrets and may even like this one more than the black one! 😁

Blue Maxi Dress Outfits for the Summer

This dress is super comfy and stretchy.  The straps are adjustable to give or take a couple inches.  You do need to wear a strapless bra with this, which I always thought was a pain until I found the first strapless bra I haven’t hated by Natori HERE!  With all other strapless bras, I constantly had to pull them up.  But I *never* have to do that with this one!

Also, I can nurse in this dress.  I saw my sister-in-law do it last year and now I do it too.  You just pull your arm through the strap completely, and then the front of the dress pulls down so you can nurse.  Super easy!

Find the dress in several colors HERE.  Colors/prints rotate in and out through out the year, so if something is sold out don’t worry–more will show up eventually!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually 6/8 or S/M in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

This is the main way I’ve worn this dress this summer, and perhaps my favorite!  I love how the white accessories “lift” the dress and help it pop more.  I’ll wear it with or without the jacket, depending on temps.  (Temps where I live can swing 20 degrees within a day, so I often need layers.)  Any kind of sandals would work, but I figure why not add a bit of color?  😀

This is basically the same as the outfit above but with a denim vest and a few other tweaks like different sandals and a different bag.  I don’t love relying on completer pieces to change up outfits in the summer because for many people it’s way too hot for any type of completer piece.  But, denim jacket or vest aside, the sandals alone make a huge difference!  Sometimes those little details don’t have a huge effect and sometimes they can really make an outfit feel different.

This Dear Mushka pendant is no stranger to anyone who’s read PMT even for a week.  It’s my favorite!  I often wear this pendant with the black version of this dress, plus tan earrings and tan sandals.  However, I have to admit that that pairing was a little lackluster with this blue dress.  Instead, I went for yellow earrings and colorful sandals.  Yellow is a great contrast to blue!

Ohhhh, I LOVE turquoise with blue!  This beaded necklace with tassels has a bit of a boho vibe.  While any bag would work with it, I really liked it paired with my favorite laser cutout crossbody.  This combo totally works with the black version of this dress as well.

If temps allow, you could wear this with all sorts of other completer pieces.  On a cooler summer day, try a short sleeved cardigan or a kimono.  In the spring and early fall I usually opt for a denim jacket or a moto jacket.  But most of all, I just love this dress because it’s so easy to wear!  It’s casual and chic at the same time, so it’s a great piece to throw on when you have no idea what to wear.

Do you dry clean the dress, or can it be machine washed in cold water and hang dried?

I never dry clean. I’ve always machine washed and air dried. We have a “hand wash” cycle on our washing machine that I use.

This dress looks simple yet elegant. Blue is a good choice of color. I am in love with your outfit.
