One of my favorite ways to make use of a regular old t-shirt is to pair it with a blazer and jeans.  I used to have no idea how to use basics and thought they were a waste of money.  Plain things?  What good is that?  But it was this kind of look that made me think I could make use of a plain tee after all.  Take that boring old tee and pop a blazer over it to make a sharp, but simple outfit!
For the second pic, I couldn’t help but switch out the plain grey tee for a striped one because, well…blazers, stripes, and me.  Inseparable.  Of course I loved it and had to show you this version too.

I have a few very nice blazers, but I don't wear them enough because I feel a little too dressed in them. I work from home, so I usually wear more casual things. But in winter I do feel more comfortable in structured clothes.

I love the addition of the pendant necklace. It draws you eye down and gives you a taller appearance.

Ok, I have a question about blazers…can you button yours? I've got narrow shoulders, but a wide rib cage, so anything that fits in the shoulders doesn't button in the middle. If I buy one that buttons, I look like a little girl that is playing dress up because it's too big everywhere else.

I'm beginning to love basics too. When I first started blogging, I wanted everything I bought to be interesting-either with a pattern or color. Now I'm into investing in great basics that will last for years to come. I've gotten a little sidetracked with all my thrift adventures lately but that is the next goal for this closet of mine.

The basics you chose are great. I still see a striped tee as a basic so I think both outfits you chose are great 🙂 I need to find a pair of neutral heels I can walk in. The basic black pumps I just got are difficult to keep my heels in! I even tried a heel grip like you suggested but it gave me the worst blister. Maybe those gel ones instead?

This is a super cute outfit! I LOVE the white blazer! Can you tell me what size you got for the blazer, I'd love to order but not sure how this brand fits.

Yes, I can usually button mine. If you really want to be able to button your blazers and still have a good fit it would be worth buying a jacket that fits the widest part of you and tailor the shoulders to fit you.

Hmm that's strange that heel grips gave you blisters. I've never had that problem with the non-gel ones.

I got it in Medium. On the item's page there are measurements for each size to get the exact fit.

Haha I'm honestly not sure how much longer this top will fit! The baby seems to have popped out this past week. 😉

I think for me it is the trench coat. When I do find an occasion to wear it, I do but those are too few and far between. It is either too hot or too cold. I think that is the problem with most of these lists, not only does in generalise women, but also the climates in which they live. Let's face it women in France, San Diego or Johannesburg (or in my case Pretoria) won't be wearing the same garments.

Yep, basics are some of my favorite things to wear as well. They can so easily be mixed and matched – I love it!
