A Tip for Wearing Maxi Dresses in Cooler Weather

Here’s a tip if you’ve ever wanted to wear a maxi dress but felt like it was just a liiiiitle too chilly.  Wear some leggings underneath!  It might not work with lighter dresses, but I’ve loved doing it with this dress.  Sometimes here it’s so sunny outside and LOOKS like spring, but it feels a little too cold for a thin maxi dress.  Instead of foregoing the dress, I put on my favorite pair of leggings (HERE) and it does the trick.  If I’m ever too hot, I can run to the bathroom and take off the leggings, which I’ve only actually had to do once.  It was when I was cooped up in a frigid air conditioned hotel for a conference, but it was 80 degrees outside.  The leggings were totally necessary while indoors, but when we got out of the hotel during the break I quickly took off the leggings and stuffed them in my tote.  And then the outfit was perfect for a sunny 80 degree day.

I got this dress last season to replace an old almost-but-not-quite black maxi dress I had.  I also got this one in a blue print.  The black version and a few other colors are available again this year (HERE).  Last season it was available in a TON of different prints and colors, so I’m guessing as the season progresses more prints will arise.

I’m normally size 6 on top, and I’m wearing this in S.  One note, it’s dry clean only but I’ve hand washed it and air dried it and it’s been fine.
