I know the holidays are FULL, and in case you’re busy running last-minute errands, making preparations, and attending events but still want to look decent and put together for any pictures you might take this season đ¸, here’s a blog post to help you out! I’m sharing 9 holiday outfit ideas you can copy from CASUAL to SPECIAL OCCASION. Since it’s the week right before Christmas, I don’t expect many of you to be buying clothes for most events, so I tried to choose outfits that you can hopefully copy with clothes from your own closet. This is more about the outfit formulas and ideas than the specific clothes. That said, a lot of these items are available, so I included shopping links as well!
Whether you’re headed out to look at Christmas lights with the family or heading to a special event, here are 9 holiday outfit ideas!â¨
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Outfit Ideas for Casual Holiday Activities
Whether you’re running errands, delivering gifts and treats, looking at lights, or grabbing a treat with your kids, here are some outfits for casual holiday activities you can copy.
Outfit #1 – Sweater + Puffer Coat + Jeans + Fuzzy Booties
Super casual outfit with a sweater, jeans, and fuzzy (waterproof!) booties and a puffer coat to look at lights. This is basically the outfit formula I wore to look at lights with our family one evening, and it was great! I brought along a beanie, too, though I ended up not needing it.
This jacket is 40% off plus an EXTRA 10% off with codes GIVE & MORE! It’s waterproof and lightweight and is made in a more sustainable way, made of recycled materials. It comes in regular and tall lengths, HERE. I wear size M. A similar coat that is even cheaper and water resistant is available HERE in tons of colors.

Outfit #2 – Long Sleeve Tee + Faux Shearling Fleece Jacket + Jeans + Sneaker Booties
This is another one of my go-to easy outfits for anything holiday-related with kids. (Though of course it works apart from kids, too!) I’m wearing this outfit as I’m typing this blog post, and the kids and I just came off a day of running errands at Target for some holiday items, dropping off cookies for a cookie exchange at Addie’s school, and delivering some gifts. This faux shearling zip up is soft and comfy to wearâso comfy that I’ve had it on allllll day. I love the low collar because sometimes fuller collars feel a little too bulky for me and I need a break from them, so this keeps my neck warm without getting in the way. (But I definitely need and appreciate a bulkier collar when it’s super duper cold.) Comes in 5 colors, HERE. I’m wearing size S in Rust Cherry.

Outfit #3 – Long Sleeve Tee + Long Cardigan + Jeans + Booties
Just another outfit idea you can throw on for casual holiday activities! Easy peasy, but a step up from Outfits 1 and 2.
Remember, these boots are waterproof, so you can use them anytime, rain or shine!

Outfit Ideas for Nicer Casual Dinners or Lunches
If you’re heading out to lunch or dinner with friends or gathering indoors for a special dinner with family, try one of these outfits!
Outfit #4 – Statement Sweater + Jeans + Tall Boots
Throw on a statement sweater, jeans, and tall boots, and you’ll be ready for dinner anywhere!

Outfit #5 – Long Sleeve Tee or Sweater + Moto Jacket + Corduroy Pants
Mix it up by opting for corduroy pants (these are stretchy and pretty comfy!), a t-shirt or thin sweater, and a moto jacket. Moto jackets make everything a little dressier! The one I’m wearing is no longer available, but there is a similar one HERE. There is also a suede one that is VERY, VERY stretchy and COMFY, HERE! I wear size S.
These corduroy pants are stretchy and comfy and come in lots of colors. Check them out HERE. For sizing, I am between sizes and was different sizes in different colors. I felt size 4 was best in this color, but that was too tight in maroon, for which I preferred size 6 instead. (Sorry if this is confusing, but hopefully it’s still helpful!)
Pair this outfit with black booties or tall black suede boots if you need warmer footwear!
The bag is super old and no longer available. Sorry! đ

Outfit Ideas for Dressy Casual Holiday Events
These overlap a little with the outfits above but are also kind of a step up in some ways. These are more outfit ideas for nice holiday dinners with family, and you can wear them to Christmas Eve services at church or holiday work parties.
Outfit #6 – Statement Sweater + Jeans or Slacks + Heels or Boots
Wear a sparkly sweater for an extra special touch, and pair it with jeans or slacks depending on how dressy you want to be. This sweater is nearly sold out, but it does come in 4 colors, HERE. There is a similar one that is also really pretty, HERE.
These straight leg jeans are full-length and do NOT have a raw hem. (I know some of you hate raw hems, so here you go.) The denim is not thick or stiff, rather itâs thin and therefore very flexible, has stretch through the legs, and feels easy to move around in! This pair comes in 15 colors (!!) and a range of sizes from 4 to 18 in both short and regular lengths! And theyâre only $24.99! Check them out HERE. Iâm wearing size 4. (Make sure to click âSee all colorsâ and âSee all sizesâ!!)
You can also wear this outfit with booties, as shown above. The booties I’m wearing have a high enough shaft for ankle length pants, too. Find them HERE. I wear size 8.5. Honestly, they’re not the highest quality boots, but they work under straight leg ankle length work pants and jeans, so they get points for that.

Outfit #7 – Sweater w/ Special Details + Jeans + Statement Shoes
Go classic with a sweater, but choose one with special details to add a little style. This one has puff sleeves, and that’s enough to elevate it from a standard crewneck sweater! This is not available anymore, but a few similar sweaters are available HERE, HERE, and HEREÂ in several colors.
These bootcut jeans look so polished but they are extremely comfortable. They’re very, verrrry stretchy and flexible, and they have the stretchy elastic waistband which y’all know I can’t live without now, haha! Find them HERE. I wear size 8 for a looser fit in the thighs, which also helped them become a little longer on me.
These leopard print booties are no longer available, but I found a similar pair HERE!
This outfit works for a Christmas Eve service, a nice dinner with family or friends, or a holiday work gathering.

Outfit #8 – Solid-Colored Blouse + Blazer + Black Pants
Look sharp and festive with a very easy combo of a black blouse, black jeans or pants, and a blazer. Make it a statement blazer like this to pack a punch! I shared this outfit last year, and it’s still awesomeeeee for this year! Wear it to work or wear it if you just want a sharp outfit for dinner or a Christmas Eve service.
This blazer is by Liverpool Los Angeles, and it’s pretty pricey, but it is VERY, VERY COMFORTABLE. And so stylish! It is lightweight and extremely STRETCHY! Pair it with jeans or with slacks. Find the blazer HERE. I wear size S. A few cheaper options are HERE, HERE, and HERE, though I have no idea what their comfort and stretch levels are like.
The jeans are also by Liverpool, which is most known for their very stretchy and comfy jeans! The rises tend to be a little too high for me, which is why I prefer Wit & Wisdom (the mid-rise options are great for me), but this brand is up there in the comfort department! The jeans have a lot of stretch and retain their shape very well, never sagging out. This exact pair is no longer available, but there is another black pair HERE.
Of course, if you need a warmer footwear option, again go with the pointy toe black booties with the kitten heel that I showed above.

Special Occasion Holiday Activities
Option #9 – Special Occasion Dress + Heels
Then of course, there’s always a special occasion dress! I hadn’t even THOUGHT about special occasion dresses this year, to be honest. đŹ It’s been a while since I’ve been to a super fancy occasion, so I don’t naturally think about them anymore. Also, I usually have a few collaborations that lend themselves to special occasion dresses and that always helps put it on my radar for any of you who might need them. This year, however, I didn’t have those so it totally slipped. My apologies!
In case you’ve got a style emergency and you’re still looking for some special occasion dresses, I found some below that are either available with quick shipping or that you can order online and hopefully opt for in-store pickup at your local store.
This dress is unfortunately no longer available, but I found a similar, shorter one HERE. Another beautiful dress that comes in 3 colors is HERE, and you can see if you can pick it up at your local store. There’s also a very affordable dress with just a touch of shimmer that is currently 20% off and only $44.40 with code GET20, HERE. Hopefully it’s available for pickup at your local store. Or you can try a fancy jumpsuit like THIS, which is also very affordable and keeps you warmer! There are LOTS of other holiday dresses that are available with quick shipping on Amazon, HERE.
