9 Dressy Casual Spring Outfit Ideas

9 Dressy Casual Outfit Ideas for Spring

Today I’ve rounded up 9 dressy casual spring outfits!  I don’t know about your spring, but ours is always packed with lots of events!  From Easter to both Benson’s and my birthdays, to lots of friend’s birthdays, baby showers, etc., there seems to be a lot of times when I need a dressy-casual outfit.

9 Dressy Casual Outfit Ideas for Spring

What is Dressy Casual?
Dressy-casual is what I call casual looks with jeans or comfy jersey dresses that are usually a bit too dressed up for running a ton of errands or spending a long time with kids.  These are the kind of outfits I wear out to lunch with friends, going to dinner sans kids to celebrate a friend’s birthday, to church, or even just for a day when I’m out and about in meetings and want to dress a step up from jeans and a cotton tee.

If you’re interested in the building blocks for a dressy-casual wardrobe, check out my recent post on that HERE.  Onto the outfits!

SIZING INFO: I’m 5’6″ and usually size 6/8 or S/M in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

White Blouse + Statement Necklace + Skinnies + Heeled Booties Skinny jeans + Heeled Booties + White Blouse + Mint Purse

I’ve worn this top on repeat since getting it because it’s one of the few dressy casual pieces I have that fits at 37+ weeks pregnant. ??? This top is simple enough to go with a lot of things, but the detailed sleeves and material dress it up. Pairing it with a statement necklace and peep toe booties steps it up a notch too, making it my go-to dressy casual look these days.

I wore this last week to a gathering for female entrepreneurs and creatives. It was a casual atmosphere, but of course for being around a bunch of creative women, I wanted to look a little more dressed up! I’ve also worn it to church and to a lunch date with Benson. Like I said, it’s my go-to dressy casual outfit these days!

Floral Midi Dress + Cognac Heels + Tote Floral Midi Dress + Cognac Tote + Cognac Heels + Jord Watch Jean Jacket + Floral Dress + Cognac Tote

I wore this to our church’s Easter service this past Sunday, and while it’s not a maternity dress, it is SO.DANG.COMFY. at 37 weeks pregnant!  WAY comfier than jeans!  Sunday was also Benson’s birthday, and I also wore this to celebrate at all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ.  And I didn’t stay in the dress because it was a nice restaurant–Benson, my sister-in-law, and my brother were all in athleisure.  I wore the dress because when it’s all you can eat Korean BBQ, stretchy clothes are required!!!

This dress is sold out in most sizes, but you should request to get notified and for it to come back in stock HERE.  I’ve seen it restocked once already, which is how I snagged it.  But there are also a couple of similar options that I’m nearly positive will be equally as comfy: THIS and THIS.

Blue Lace Top + White Jeans + Cognac Heels + ToteWhite Jeans + Blue Lace Top + Cognac Bag + SandalsBlue Lace Top + Gold Jewelry + White Jeans + Cognac Heels
This is an outfit from last spring that I still super duper love!  The blue against the crisp white jeans and cognac have me like ?.
These are my favorite white jeans of the many I’ve tried.  Mine are a few years old, so I can’t speak to the newer iterations, but my pair is soft, stretchy, fairly thick, not see-through (though I still always wear nude colored underwear with white jeans and bottoms), have real front pockets that are not see-through, and are all around comfy!  My friend tried a lot of white jeans last year, and I finally gave her a pair of these.  Her immediate reaction was, “Daaaaang, these are so much better than all the other pairs I tried!  I know you’d been saying these were your favorites. I don’t know why I didn’t try them–I just don’t know!  I thought I could find some others. I don’t know!  Ohmigosh these are so good!”  SO, they’re at least worth a try!
For sizing, I got 28 Petite to have them hit at the ankles.  The length for regular, petite, and tall are all listed on LOFT’s site HERE.

Printed Dress + Jean Jacket + White Slip Ons + Statement Necklace Printed Dress + Jean Jacket + Statement Necklace + White Slip ons

Maybe for dressy-casual I’d go with wedges, but oh well.  I love pairing white sneakers with white accessories to tie the look together.

Orange Cardigan + Bootcut Jeans + Floral Top + Statement Necklace Orange Cardi + Floral Top + Statement Necklace + Bootcut Jeans + Mint Bag
For casual looks I often wear jeans + tee + cardigan + flats.  But for a dressy-casual look, I often switch the tee to a non-cotton top and flats to wedges, and booooom, instant step up.  I love this look with my bold orange cardigan!  I used this cardigan in the Spring Transition Outfits and a ton of women in the PMT Challenges bought it thinking they couldn’t wear this color.  And a ton off women were kind of shocked that it looks SO good on them!  I’ve seen this cardigan on tons of different skin tones and hair coloring, and it’s been so fun to see how well it works on so many different women.
Also, THESE JEANS!  I’ve talked a TON about them over the last couple yaers.  My exact pair is sold out, but the updated version for this year is HERE.  They are SOOOO stretchy and soft and comfy, and they feel like yoga pants.  (At least, mine do.)  Like, seriously, I could do yoga in them because they’re that stretchy.  They also have elastic panels in the waistband (in addition to a zip fly closure) which makes them EXTRA comfy and extra like yoga pants.  Nordstrom’s site says to size down, but I actually sized up to 8 to accommodate for my thighs.  I tried the size 6s and while they fit because these jeans are so stretchy, they were much more fitted around my hips and thighs and it actually made the whole pair of jeans shorter since more material was being used to stretch around my thighs, if that makes sense.  I liked the fit much better when I sized up.  You can take advantage of Nordstrom’s free shipping AND free return shipping and order several sizes to see which one you like best.

Lace Top + Skinnies + Statement Necklace + Moto Jacket Skinnies + Moto Jacket + Lace Top + Blush Bag
This is one of my favorite tops, which is also the white version of the blue lace top I showed a couple outfits earlier.  I LOVE THIS TOP, and while it sold out last year, there is an updated version of it this year HERE.  It’s so pretty, fully lined front and back except for the sleeves, and has a beautiful scallop hem detail.  It often goes on sale for around $35 or less, and at that price it is SOOOO worth it–more than worth it–because of all the gorgeous details this top has.  Scoop it up HERE while you can!
SIZING: I sized up to 8, though many women said they got their regular size.  The size 6 wouldn’t stay over my wider hips.  Also, my older version ran a tad short, so if you have a long torso, beware!

Blush Cardigan + White Floral Top + White Jeans + Blush Flats Blush Cardigan + Floral Top + White Jeans + Blush Flats + White Bag

This is one of the few outfits in this post with a softer knit kinda top.  It can be worn casually but can also be dressed up because it drapes differently than a standard cotton t-shirt plus has a pretty print.  I’ve worn it in a casual outfit with denim jeans and sandals, but pairing it with jewelry and pointy toe flats like in the outfit above dresses it up more.

Moto Jacket + Navy Top + Gold Necklace + Distressed Skinnies + Heeled SandalsMoto Jacket + Distressed Skinnies + Gold Necklace + Navy Top

This is another outfit from last spring that I still like a lot.  A moto jacket is one of my go-to completer pieces to finish dressy-casual looks.

These lace up booties are from Target last year, and they are a knock-off of this very expensive pair by Jeffery Campbell.  However, I found a similar cheaper pair for under $40 in a few sizes HERE!

Jean Jacket + Olive top + White Jeans + Nude Flats White Jeans + Jean Jacket + Floral Scarf + Green tunic

These types of tops are my dressy-casual g0-tos both when I’m not pregnant and during pregnancy.  I have talked about the longer version of this Lush tunic in white, saying it’s one of my most remixable pieces.  (See it worn 10 ways HERE.)  I have this shorter version in olive and black.  They are all really effortless to wear and honestly I feel like their loose fit makes them more comfortable than a cotton tee.

My top hasn’t been available for several years, but there is a similar one at Kohl’s HERE.  See the ways I’ve worn this olive tunic HERE.  I looove it brightened up for spring with white jeans and light blue and turquoise accents!
