5 Skirts for Spring and Summer

Five Skirts for Spring and Summer

5 Skirts for Spring & Summer

One thing I really look forward to as I wait for weather to heat up is being able to wear skirts!  I used to not like skirts that much, mostly because I didn’t know how to wear them.  But, after I figured out a few tricks (which I’ll point you to in a bit), I found a new love for skirts!  I love them as dressy casual options when it’s warmer, especially when shorts don’t seem dressy enough.  I also love how they can level up a plain white or striped tee.

Since I’ve added a couple new skirts to my collection lately, today I want to share five skirts for spring. And even better?–they’ll work all summer long, too!

Before we get there, let me point you to a post I wrote last year with 4 tips on how to style skirts.  These are tips I wish I’d known years ago.  I’d sworn off skirts, even though I loved them, because I always felt confused about what to pair with them.  I didn’t know how to find ones that could go with more than one other thing in my closet, and I didn’t know how to dress them up or down or that you COULD dress skirts up and down.  So, be sure to read my post How to Style Skirts with 4 Easy Tips so that you can get the most out of your skirts.

Alright, ready to share my skirts now!  If you’ve been reading the blog this spring, these should all be familiar.  But in case you’re like me and find it helpful to see things together as one big picture, I’ve collected my 5 current favorites for you today!

This striped skirt is hands down my favorite!  I’ve had it for several years, and fortunately it’s continued to come back the last couple of years.  If you haven’t heard me talk about it yet, I love it because for starters, it’s got an elastic waistband which means it’s comfortable and forgiving!  Next, it’s got POCKETS!  Also, it’s a linen-cotton blend, so it’s fairly lightweight but heavier than that really, really thin linen, which means it doesn’t wrinkle nearly as much.  (It does wrinkle a bit, but for me it’s been pretty minimal.)  Lastly, I love that you can dress it up a little or totally dress it down.

The outfit above is on the dressier side with a blouse and flats, but you can also wear it with a plain white tee and tan flat sandals, a navy tank/tee with yellow or white accessories, or a bright colored tee like coral or green.  Basically what I’m trying to say is it works well with dressed up with blouses + flats/wedges or dressed down with cotton tees/tanks and flat sandals.  Easy peasy!  See ways I’ve worn it HERE.

black floral skirt + cognac purse + tan sandals + black topblack floral skirt + black top + cognac purse + tan sandals black floral skirt + black tank top + tan braided sandals

This skirt has such a cute floral print for spring and summer! It’s a lightweight, silky kind of fabric and comes fully lined. It’s got buttons down the front and a bit of elastic at the back of the waistband for some give and extra comfort.  Lastly, it’s got POCKETS! ??

I got this skirt last year but couldn’t wear it much because I had just had a baby and it was a tad snug despite the bit of elastic in the waistband. But now that I’ve done FASTer Way to Fat Loss, it fits and I’m excited to wear it over the next few months!  That said, it does run a tad small, so if you’re between sizes, size up.  I wear size M and even after trimming down with FASTer Way the M juuuuust fits.

Here I paired it with one of those ModCloth tank tops that I super love, but I’ve also paired it with a blouse and heels for a dressier look HERE.  Other ideas?  White, yellow, or pink tee or blouse!  Find the skirt HERE.

This navy floral print skirt is a newer addition to my closet from this spring.  It’s a lightweight option that’s made of a silky type of fabric and is fully lined.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t have pockets or elastic in the waistband, but I love it nonetheless!  Dress it down with a tee and sandals, or dress it up with a blouse and wedges or heels.  Would look cute with a yellow top, saturated green top, navy or black tank (yes, mixing black and navy is okay, especially when the navy is printed all over!), or pink.  Looking forward to wearing this more!

This green accordion skirt is another newer addition to my closet.  When I first showed it, I gushed about this COLOR!  I’d been looking for a skirt this color for YEARS, and in person it’s even more of a beautiful saturated green than we could capture in pics.  So, so pretty!  I mentioned the zipper did a funky thing, which was disappointing for how expensive this skirt is.  But, since I had been looking for a skirt just like this for years, I was willing to overlook that.  (Read my full review of it HERE.)

In terms of what to pair it with, I think my first preference is just a white blouse or striped tee.  So easy and cute!  But if you need more ideas, I can also imagine it dressed up with printed tops like a black/white polka dot top or a floral print.  It comes in 3 colors and in sizes XXS to XXL in both petite and regular lengths, though some sizes are running low in stock.  See all three colors HERE.

Last is this yellow skirt that I’ve shown quite a bit since getting it last fall.  Works for fall, spring, and summer!  It’s got a very pretty drape, POCKETS, and a bit of elastic in the back of the waistband.  I wear size M and have some spare room!  This comes in tons of other colors, but of course I love the yellow one the most.  😛  See all the colors HERE.  For more styling ideas, check HERE.
