3 Pants for Work This Fall

3 Pants for Work This Fall

Huge thanks to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post

Though many people are working from home these days, I know a lot of you have been heading into work or still need to dress up for video meetings remotely.  If you’re in need of business casual clothes–and COMFY ones–today’s post is for you!  I’m partnering with Nordstrom and ShopStyle to share 3 types of pants for work to wear this fall, along with awesome and comfy tops and blazers!

If you want comfortable work clothes, you NEED to be shopping at Nordstrom.  I honestly wish I had to dress in business casual clothes everyday sometimes because I find THE COMFIEST work clothes at Nordstrom!  Instead, I’ll have to settle for simply finding amazing work clothes and styling them momentarily to share them with you. 😄

As a reminder, Nordstrom offers free returns and free shipping on all orders, so if you are ever hesitant to try a piece or are unsure of sizing, order it anyway.  If they don’t work out for you, you can easily ship them back.  Also, Nordstrom offers curbside pickup, where you can order online then drive up to your local store and have someone bring your order out to the car.  Last, if you’re not already a member of the Nordy Club, what are you waiting for?  You get additional perks, AND collect points on all your orders that result in Nordstrom notes towards future purchases!  Read more about it HERE.

Alright, let’s make your workwear wardrobe COMFY AS HECK and get onto the outfits!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

Business Casual Outfit: black printed top + black blazer + black ankle pants + maroon suede heels + maroon bag + metallic leather earrings Business Casual Outfit: black blazer + black printed top + black ankle pants + metallic leather earrings + maroon bag

1. Black Slacks
Black pants are a standard work staple, so it’s important to find an amazing pair, and these StretchTech Ankle Pants by Vince Camuto are AMAZING! I’ve shared about them on and off for the last couple of years, and I’m so glad they’re back in stock!  PMTers LOOOOOVE these! They are SO, SO COMFY! They’re, smooth, soft and MAJORLY STRETCHY through out the legs, and they have stretch in the waistband for ultimate comfort!  They’re on the thicker side, which helps conceals lumps and bumps nicely.  Thicker material adds structure, which helps create more polished looks.  With this pair, you get that structure and polish while still being SUPER comfortable!  These are labeled skinny pants, but they’re not super narrow and fit a little more like straight leg ankle pants.  They run pretty large. I’m wearing size 4.  If you don’t yet have black pants that you absolutely stinking LOVE, you’ve gotta check these out HERE!

You can pair black pants with a million things. Today I went with this VERY comfy, satiny black printed top. It’s smooth and silky, and it just feels amazing against your skin!  It’s a fantastic piece to have in your work wardrobe. It comes in black, green, and red.  Check them out HERE.  I’m wearing size S.  You can pair this top with dark wash jeans for an elevated casual look to be dressed up but really comfortable while working from home, or dress it up more like I did here with black slacks and a black blazer.

This blazer is has a bit of stretch, and it’s really lightweight and flexible, so it’s comfy to wear!  A lot of blazers can be thick and stiffer, but this one isn’t.  Also, it nips in at the waist for a really flattering fit!  One note is that it’s on the shorter side, which lands perfectly on me with my shorter torso, but I’d imagine it wouldn’t be as great if you have a longer torso.  I’m wearing size S which is a tad snug on the arms.  I’d want to try M also to compare.

Between this comfy top, stretchy blazer, and the super comfy black pants, you’ll have a polished powerhouse work outfit, but you’ll be soooo dang comfy!

Last, you can go for black shoes, or put a little twist on the outfit with colored shoes.  The pair I’m wearing is comfy with a padded footbed.  Unfortunately, they’re no longer available in this color, but they are available in a standard black version HERE!

2. Skinny Ponte Pants
Next up is skinny ponte pants.  These are great for relaxed business casual looks. They mimic leggings, but if you get the right pair of ponte pants, they can be work appropriate.

You can’t tell from these pictures, but these ponte pants are FANTASTIC in person! They are very stretchy, so they’re comfy to wear.  They’re fairly thick, and something about how they fit just holds everything in and smooths you out.  They even smooth out my rear in a way that leggings with compression don’t. Honestly, I feel so confident in these things, haha!  They have seams down the sides and slit faux-pockets in the back, which again, is hard to see in pictures and easier to see in person.  Check them out HERE.  I’m wearing size S.

You can pair these ponte pants with a longer tunic length top or sweater.  I went for this rust colored sweater, which unfortunately is no longer available. However, there’s a very similar one HERE.  You could also do this Caslon tunic sweater that I’ve shared in the past.

Another great thing about ponte pants is that they are skinny enough at the ankles to pair with boots and booties.  A lot of times work pants in a skinny aren’t quite fitted enough at the ankles to look right with boots and booties, so if you want a skinny option, ponte pants are the way to go.

3. Statement Trousers
Last, spice up your workwear with a pair of statement pants!  Statement pants can simply be a pair of colored pants in a traditional cut, or it can be a pair with an interesting silhouette or unique details like a paper bag waist, bow, or wide legs.  It can also be a pair that is colored and has unique details, like the pair I’m wearing here.  Statement pants help change up your looks and give your workwear a little life!

These pants are in a gorgeous rust color with a fun paper bag waist and bow.  Aren’t they a breath of fresh air from traditional work slacks?  SO cute!  The material is nice and thick, and they offer a beautiful tailored look while still being playful and fun thanks to the bow detail.  Plus, they’re up to 50% off right now!  Check them out HERE.  I wear size 6.

I paired them with an adorable navy printed shell that has a bit of rust in the print and goes perfectly with these rust pants!  This shell is fairly thick and feels sturdy while still having a decent drape.  It is REALLY good, and it’s currently 40% off, making it only around $23, which is a STEAL!  It’s fantastic for tucking into high waisted pants or skirts and slipping under a blazer, jacket, or cardigan.  It comes in 7 prints, and if I needed to dress in business casual attire regularly, I’d totally get several of them to add oomph to my work outfits!  Check them out HERE.  I wear size M.

I topped off the look with this comfy knit blazer, which is a PMT fave!  It feels like a sweatshirt!  You can dress it down with jeans and a tee or dress it up like I did here.  It comes in 3 colors HERE, 2 additional colors HERE, and more colors HERE.  I wear size XS—runs very large!
