Outfits With Leggings to Wear at Home and Out

We’re finishing our 4th week of sheltering in place where I live, and I’ve been living in leggings more than ever.  Between my kids being home and not at school or daycare (including a 2 year old that requires some chasing) and being pregnant and not loving maternity jeans, leggings are totally winning.

If you’re on team leggings with me right now, this post is for you!  I’ve got 3 spring outfits with leggings to wear at home–that you can also pull together easily to head out quickly–and they’re all with pieces from the Early Spring Mini Capsule Wardrobe I shared last month.

In case you missed it, a couple weeks ago I shared more outfits from the Early Spring Mini Capsule in the post 4 Comfy Casual Spring Outfits.  Check them out HERE.

Casual Leggings Outfit To Wear At Home: oatmeal pullover sweater + black leggings + utility jacket + leopard slip-on sneakers + cognac tote + leopard leather earrings

Outfit #1: Longer Sweater + Utility Jacket + Printed Sneakers + (Printed Earrings)
If you’re just hanging out around the house, a longer sweater over leggings works great.  A sweater that has a little texture elevates the outfit without extra effort and still being pretty low-key.  I ALWAYS add Nickel & Suede earrings of some sort, especially while I’m just at home, because they really make me feel put together while being completely comfortable.  I don’t feel them at all through out my day because they are so lightweight, but I DO feel put together!

If you’re headed out the door, add low profile sneakers, whether white, black, or printed.  Printed sneakers kick up the outfit even more, so with these low key sweaters and sweatshirts I’ve been relying a ton on my leopard print sneakers.  In particular, I love bookending the outfit with my leopard print earrings and leopard print sneakers.  (Learn all about bookending HERE and HERE!)  Lastly, if you need a layer, a utility jacket is a great, casual option!

Casual Leggings Outfit To Wear At Home: striped tee + black leggings + blush long cardigan sweater + white cork leather earrings

Outfit #2: Striped Tee (or any tee) + Colored Oversized Cardigan
We’ve had a few warm days, so I got to break away from my sweatshirts and sweaters and needed short sleeve t-shirts instead.  An oversized cardigan is an easy layer to add or remove as temps fluctuate (or when I get really hot from moving around with the kids a lot and then need it again once I cool off!) and it’s still super comfy for being at home.

This is the Old Navy cardigan that I reviewed HERE.  Pretty good, affordable option!  Lighter weight but not so lightweight that it’s pointless–I’ve totally tried cardigans like that before, haha.  A BUNCH of you have said you love these cardigans and have them in all the colors!  It comes in 6 colors, so check them out HERE.  I’m wearing size S.

Casual Outfit With Leggings To Wear At Home: pink pullover sweatshirt + black leggings + blush sneakers + denim jacket + grey crossbody bag + leopard leather earrings

Outfit #3: Colored Sweatshirt + (Same Colored) Sneakers + Printed Earrings
Here I’m bookending my outfit with a coral sweatshirt and pink sneakers.  This would have worked with white, black, or leopard print sneakers too.  Like I said earlier, since my sweatshirts and sweaters in the early spring capsule are pretty simple in the sense that they’re solids and don’t have a lot of bells and whistles, I’ve been mostly adding pops of print with earrings and shoes.  For this outfit I’ve got on my Spotted Cork Nickel & Suede Leather Earrings.  I like how the black from the print also ties in with the black in the leggings.

This sweatshirt does cover my rear, but barely.  Normally I wouldn’t mind much, because I’d be wearing my Zella leggings which I feel less self-conscious in since they’re opaque and have compression to hold everything together.  However, I’m in Old Navy maternity leggings these days that doesn’t make things quite as flattering back there and aren’t quite as opaque either.  At home, that is zero problem.  But if I go out in them with a sweatshirt that doesn’t fully cover my rear, I’ll tie a denim jacket or utility jacket around my waist.  No big deal!

Shop the Look:
Sweatshirt: Old Navy (exact–wearing size S)
Leggings: Old Navy Maternity (similarsimilarsimilar–NON-maternity, I wear size M)

Jacket: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size M in color Sweet)
Sneakers: JCPenney (similar in Rosewater/Puma White, similar in French Gray/Dash Pink/Hushed Pink)
Bag: Nordstrom (similar)
Earrings: c/o Nickel & Suede (exact–wearing size M)

There you go!  Some leggings outfits to get you through the week/weekend.  (Is anyone else losing track of what day it is? haha!)
