3 Easy Casual Summer Outfits From the Summer Starter Kit Wardrobe Guide

3 Easy Casual Summer Shorts Outfits

Hey friends!  Summer weather has been rolling in where I live, and hopefully sunshine and warmer weather is not too far from you either!  If you want some inspiration for summer, today I’m sharing three easy casual summer outfits from the Everyday Casual Summer Starter Kit Wardrobe Guide.

The Casual Summer Starter Kit Wardrobe Guide is full of my go-to outfit combos!  It turns 15 pieces into well over 30+ outfits and helps you create a small but super versatile mix and match winter wardrobe.  It focuses primarily on Everyday Casual outfits, and then shows you how to expand to Athleisure and Dressy Casual outfits by adding just a few pieces.  Read more about it HERE!

In these outfits, you can follow the exact pictures shown or you can follow the general outfit formulas under each outfit and use other types of pieces from your own closet.

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

Summer Shorts Outfit: White Short Sleeve Lace Blouse + Olive Linen Shorts + Tan Leather Sandals + Cognac Tote + Gold Disc Pendant Necklace + Tan Leather Earrings

Outfit #1: Solid Neutral Top w/ Interesting Details + Colored Shorts
This has been one of my favorite combos for years!  I love a lace tee paired with olive shorts and how cognac leather (and faux leather) accessories “ground” lace.

These are the crazy comfy and very affordable pull on shorts that I reviewed a couple weeks ago.  The waistband is ridiculously stretchy, and the shorts are lightweight so they should be great for a hot summer!

I’ve had the sandals for years and they are some of my FAVORITES.  (Pardon the toe marks–just happens when you’ve had shoes for a long time! 🤷🏻‍♀️)  They’re genuine leather, and they’re SO comfy with a cushioned footbed and durable with a rubber sole.  Such great sandals for walking long periods!  They’re currently available again this year HERE, which is not always the case, so scoop them up while you can!

Unfortunately my lace tee is several years old and not available at the moment.  Sometimes a new version comes in stock, so be sure to follow PMT Emails to get notified when that happens!  There are similar options HERE (available in reg and petite) and HERE.

Earrings: c/o Nickel & Suede (exact–I wear size M)

Summer Shorts Outfit: mustard tee + distressed jean shorts + tan leather sandals + white and gold tassel pendant necklace + white leather earrings

Outfit #2: Colored Tee + Denim Shorts
A colored tee, as opposed to a basic neutral one, is an easy way to change up a t-shirt + shorts uniform in the summer.  A pair of distressed shorts also provides more visual interest when you can’t rely on other layers to make outfits more interesting.

This tee is the same as my favorite white tee, just in yellow. I love how it drapes, and I find the rounded v-neck pretty flattering. However, just a note that it’s one of those thin tissue tees which is usually not as great if you want something that glosses over extra fluff in the midsection. The color above is from last year, but there’s a different yellow for this year along with a few other colors HERE. If you want more yellow tee options, there are others HERE and HERE too.

Shop the Outfit:

Summer Shorts Outfit: leopard short sleeve blouse + black linen shorts + tan braided sandals + gold disc pendant necklace + black drawstring crossbody bag

Outfit #3: Printed Top + Neutral Shorts
Last up, I mentioned in the post “How to Make Cute Outfits in the Summer When You Can’t Layer” that printed tops or other pieces that make some sort of a statement beyond basics is extra helpful in the summer when you can’t rely on layers to make outfits interesting. So, do yourself a favor and fill your summer wardrobe with some prints!

These shorts are the same comfy pull-on shorts as the olive pair above, but in black. I paired them with a leopard print tee which unfortunately is from last year and no longer available 😭, but there similar options HERE and HERE. You can also use any printed top and do this combo with other neutrals, of course!
