The start of school is always a busy time of year, so today I’m partnering with Kohl’s and ShopStyle Collective to share three easy outfit formulas so that you can tackle your to-do list while still looking and feeling good! We’ll talk through some easy (and very affordable!) outfits you can wear, whether you are simply heading out for drop-offs and pickups, need to meet with teachers or parents, or need to get dressed up a little for work. Let’s talk through some easy outfits that you can wear for the back-to-school season!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
1. Casual for Drop-Offs & Errands: T-Shirt or Cozy Pullover + Relaxed Jeans
A lot of you have expressed how casual wear has you stumped sometimes, so here is one combo you can wear to step up your casual outfits while keeping it low key.
Go for relaxed jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt with some style and character! I often say that good style starts with having the right pieces, and that is incredibly key for casual style. Here, I’m wearing a top that is a step up from a basic t-shirt, but it is still a t-shirt—and it’s as comfy and as low key as one! It has some texture and is a little thicker than typical tees, so even though I’m basically just wearing a t-shirt, it looks more polished. I sized up to size L for a looser and relaxed fit, and I’m wearing the color Moonbeam Blue, which is much more blue in person than it looks on Kohl’s site. The color is closer to the color in my pictures above.
You can also opt for a simple graphic tee like THESE. Those are pretty thick and come in a lot of different prints. And they’re just $7.99 right now! I wear those in size S.
When the weather cools, you can wear a long sleeve tee and a sweatshirt or cozy pullover instead. The henley sherpa hoodie that I’m wearing above is cozy but lightweight, and it’s soft! Size S fit fine, but it made me look a little boxier compared to the more loosely fitting M.
Also, these jeans are a pretty good, affordable option that are soft and have a good amount of stretch! They are a straight leg cut, but I rolled them up to give them a slightly more relaxed vibe. They come in several washes, and they are just $22.39 right now, HERE! Plus size options are available HERE, and petite lengths in the grey wash are available HERE. I wear size 6, which started out fitting just right and conformed more and more to my body as I continued to wear them. One note is that the rise is slightly lower than an average mid-rise.

2. Meetings: Elevated Casual Top + Jeans or Corduroys
This is a combo you can wear for meetings with teachers or parents, or even for a more casual work setting. Choose a nicer casual top like this and pair it with jeans or other casual pants like corduroys. Easy!
This top is nicer than a t-shirt but not as dressy as a blouse. It’s the perfect in-between piece that allows you to dress up a bit without being dressy. You can pair this top with blue jeans, like the ones I’m wearing in the first outfit, or you can change it up a little and go for brown girlfriend jeans like the ones here. These jeans are a loosely fitting girlfriend cut with denim that is pretty soft and also has some stretch, so they are pretty comfortable. And, they’re currently $27.99! I’m wearing size 6, but this pair loosens up over time, so I would recommend going with your normal size if you want something a little more relaxed looking and then try sizing down if you want something more fitted.

3. Work: Dress
Last, make getting dressed for work really easy and wear a dress! With a dress, you only need to think about one piece and can look polished and professional instantly. It’s a great option, especially during the back-to-school season when things are a little more hectic than normal!
