The White Blouse That Gets a Ton of Compliments and Goes With Everything

Outfits With a White Blouse

I'm really excited that one of my favorite go-to tops is available again this fall!  I'd wanted a plain white blouse, but I thought traditional button ups would be too structured for my casual style.  I liked how this top is flowy and drapes very well.  I bought this a year ago thinking it'd just serve as a basic, which it does, but I've been surprised by how it's garnered a compliment almost every time I've worn it!

It's very long, but the length plus the way it drapes makes it fantastic for a partial front tuck.  Sometimes shirts that are stiffer puff out on me from the side profile when half-tucked, but this one lays nice and flat thanks to that great drape.

I also love that it's one of those tops that toggles between casual and a little dressier.  (i.e. day spent with kid vs. day spent in a semi-casual meeting with adults)  And that's why it's one of my go-to tops in the fall.  It's very easy to grab and go, working effortlessly with many types of completer pieces for layering in the fall.  Since it's a very loose fit I don't have to worry about what kinds of activities I'll be doing through out the day and if my clothes will allow me enough freedom to move as I need.  It also goes with tons of different kinds of completer pieces.  For all of those reasons, I really, really do not need to think when wearing this top, which is why I love it so much and why it's one of my go-to tops!

Sizing
It's currently available in 5 colors: ivory, black, deep teal, burnt henna (reddish orange) and olive HERE.  I'm normally S/M or 6/8 in tops, and even though it's a loose fit I wear this in Medium.  The shoulders were slightly tight on me in S.  According to the size chart for this top (HERE) it runs true to size.

Washing Instructions
Please note, washing instructions say "dry clean," but, I DO NOT DRY CLEAN THIS.  :D  I machine or hand wash and air dry.  And it has accidentally gone through the dryer a couple of times without damage.  Several other readers said they regularly machine wash this and their tops still look new.  Of course, do this at your own risk!  I take my cues from Real Simple's article, "Do I Really Need to Dry-Clean This?" HERE.

Anyway, Nordstrom asked if I'd want to showcase some pieces for fall, so today I'm styling my favorite white tunic 3 ways for this early part of fall.  You can see how easily the top goes with completer pieces, really allowing you to wear it with anything and run out the door quickly!  The looks are mostly casual, though you could easily tuck this into a pencil skirt if you want to utilize it for work as well.

Outfit #1 - Neutrals + Utility Jacket + Patterned Flats
I love this easy look for being on the go.  In it, I feel laid back but decently put together for adult interactions, and I still feel totally able to keep up with my toddler or be active with a day full of errands.  This is the outfit I typically wear when I want to take it up a notch from a t-shirt and think that I might take off my jacket at some point in the day.

Outfit #2 - Cardigan + Ankle Boots
It's been too warm for me to wear this outfit, but I absolutely love it and can't wait until the weather is cool enough for it.

The cardigan is almost out of stock but keeps popping up here and there in different sizes, probably as people return it.  It is AWESOME.  I got it during the NSale and love that it's a sweater cardigan but doesn't feel heavy like many other sweater cardigans I've worn.  I'm normally S/M or 6/8 and wearing small.

I really like that all of these completer pieces have different textures and how the top goes really well with all of them.  I mean it--it's sooo easy to throw this on with jeans, grab any pair of shoes and any completer piece, and run out the door looking put together!  (And remember, you can wear this to work with a skirt or with printed trousers!)

Huge thanks to Nordstrom for collaborating on this post!
