The Printed Maxi Dress That Got Me

I failed at resisting this maxi dress, and I ain't one bit sad about it!  It's comfy and soooo effortless to wear, whether for a casual hang out or when you need to dress up a little more during the summer.

I first saw it during the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale but thought I'd be nursing through out the summer and wouldn't get much use out of it.  Then, mixing and matching it only made me like it more, so I ordered it just to see.  Totally playing with fire!  Roughly around the time it arrived at my house, Addie quit nursing.  It was a stressful and confusing time, (like, was it just a nursing strike or weaning?  Yup, weaned...oh, but wait! She still won't drink from a bottle/cup/straw/sippy....), so to embrace the new stage I kept the dress.  A little celebratory present to myself!  :)

It comes in a ton of different prints, many of which I showed below, as well as 4 solid colors (cobalt, black, coral, and jade--see #5).  I also added a few from other stores.  The blue striped one (#9) from Target is similar but stripes might feel like a safer print for some.  It also has thicker straps.

Dress size reference: I normally wear 6 and got this in small.  I'm 5'6" and it's a little long on me, but when I ran errands in it I knotted the bottom to pull up the hem.  The top is double lined while the bottom is not.  I wear a slip under everything just to personally feel more at ease, but therefore I didn't pay attention to whether not it was see-through.

Shoe sizing: I wear 8.5-9 and got these in 9.

  1. Love that dress! I am definitely tempted but at only 5'4 it would be much too long for me. Too bad it doesn't come in petite, too!

  2. Do you wear the same slip you showed us earlier under maxi dresses/skirts, too, or do you have a long one? I just got a maxi skirt and when I got it home noticed it was VERY see through! Thanks and hope the drinking from a cup is working better for your little one!

  5. What a lovely dress! I was thinking it was an Old Navy find.

My daughter just abruptly stopped nursing at 9 months and it was permanent. I was devastated, too because I loved nursing but, she was taking a bottle just fine. It took a couple of weeks for me to get over it. So, I know how you feel!

  8. I do the same with my maxi skirts, #shortgirlproblems but remember those knots that you used to tie has a kid with your shirt? Like that but with your skirt. You can see it in this video. Sorry just quickly did a youtube search for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5D95xEZyHI but you can get the idea. Look at look 4 and 5

  14. Ahh I'd totally love to wear one of these but at 5'1", even knotting it would be too much. Super cute designs!

Love the look! I recently quit nursing too and I have to say it has been nice to get back into some of my summer apparel I otherwise wouldn't have been able to wear… like strapless and maxi dresses! Always love your style! :)
