Pink and Purple (Style Challenge #5)

I've gotta be honest.  I care very little about Valentine's Day.  Yep, I said it!  Except the part about chocolates, of course.  I'd be a fool to reject those.

That said, this is not my Valentine's Day outfit.  I did, however, wear it to a wedding last weekend.

I showed this top with a black leather skirt for another wedding back in October.  (Needed nursing-friendly blah blah blah.)  It feels a little silly to compare the outfits because the silhouettes are pretty much the same and I mostly changed the color of the skirt.  But, wow, what a difference!

It makes me really appreciate a floral top.  They're generally thought of as pieces for spring, but whether they are dark based or lighter based they can be worn in both cooler and warmer weather.  Just pair them with darker or lighter and brighter colors according to how much sunshine there is around you, and there you go.  :)

I really like most of the ones below, like loooove 3, 4, 5, and 6.  But I'm completely eyeing #4!  I *think* it's the exact top I'm wearing but in a different print, and man oh man, I really like all that blue.  So stinking cute, and it would definitely work year round.  (As long as you're warm enough.  Sorry to our cold climate friends!)

  1. This look is perfect for a wedding OR for Valentine's Day--I love how the colors go perfectly together. I like Valentine's Day, but I don't need any fancy gifts or anything...I'm happy with chocolate and maybe date night with my man :)

My hubby & I are not big fan of Vday either. It's over crowded and over priced. Great outfit - I like a feminine pleated skirt like this.

  5. I never used to care too much about Valentine's Day but now that we have a little one, I swear my love for holidays has grown. I like to get excited about holidays so she will too, i guess. Valentine's Day is also a great excuse to get a babysitter and go out! haha! This is such a cute look, I'm loving the purple!

  8. Same here on Valentine's Day... except now I have one more thing than chocolate to love about it: plastering my kid's face on cute cards and sending them to friends and family. It's too cute an opportunity to pass up :)

Whether for Valentine's or a wedding or whatever, this is soooo pretty! Lovely silhouette and colors, and your hair! I so wish I could do that to mine...

  14. Love it! I own top #6 so I can totally attest to its awesomeness. I actually own several of those tops because they fit so well and the prints are so great.

  15. Love your outfit, Audrey! It's so feminine and pretty. I have a similar floral shirt that's got lighter pastel colors. I really don't wear it often enough! And thanks for starting the Style Challenge -- I've had so much fun with it so far!

  16. This is such a pretty look! I like that it would be appropriate for several different occasions--a date, a wedding, work, church, etc. I have a floral button up, but not a simple blouse like this--it might be worth buying one!

  19. What a gorgeous outfit, Audrey! You look stunning in these colors and I always like your hair curled like this :) Also, I'm totally with you on the whole Valentine's Day thing. I love Kevin 365 days a year and try to do little things every day to show him that :)
