Shopping Help: Old Navy Finds - Wardrobe Staples & More

Whoa-migosh.  I haven't been shopping much these days.  Since November I've only made two purchases--this watch and a sweatshirt to work out in.  Whoopdedoo.  Until yesterday, that is.  I went to Old Navy, and hot dang there were some great pieces!  Pretty proud of myself for only walking out with two things.

Someone on Instagram joked about there being an "Audrey" section, saying that there was an entire display that looked like it was from my closet.  I can totally see why.  There are a bunch of pieces currently in store that are my wardrobe staples, so I featured them below along with some other pieces I checked out that were notable.

I also linked to my archive of all the ways I've worn a piece below, if it is one of my closet staples.

Option 1 - I have this in white, and I like it so much that I bought it yesterday in this light blue.  It's a really great weight.  Not flimsy, but not too stuff.  Great for layering or wearing by itself!  It functions with the same versatility as a chambray button up except it's a better for professional and polished looks.  I scored it for $12!  This runs pretty large.  I'm usually S/M at ON and got this in XS.

Option 2 - Always a fan of stripes!  Ways I've worn mine HERE.

Option 3 - I didn't see this in store, but I wish I had.  Such a pretty color!  Comes in 4 colors.

Option 4 - Ways I've worn my pink blazer HERE.  Currently on sale.

Option 5 - This is ponte or jersey knit.  Super comfy.  Comes in a solid heather grey too.  I liked the weight of this blazer, as it wasn't too thin but still comfy.  Ways I've worn mine HERE.

Option 6  - This is the other piece I walked away with yesterday, also cheaper in store.  I was pleased that it managed to be chunky cardigan but form fitting and sleek--even less bulky than it looks in this image.  Still need to play around with it in my wardrobe to see if I'll keep it though!

Option 7 - Comes in 8 other prints and a bajillion other solids.  Have you guys tried ON's pixie pants?  They're pretty comfortable with ample stretch!  I need to spend a little more time trying on the different materials and pant lengths they now have to find one that works for me, but I will say the stretch makes them super comfy.

Option 8 - More pixie pants.  I loved the idea of these, but something about the color emphasized the junk in my trunk in an unflattering way!

Option 9 - Plain t-shirt dress!  I've been wearing mine more than I thought I would.  See the ways HERE.  //  Comes in solid black, a floral print, red/white stripe, and black/white stripe.

Option 10  - Another one I didn't see in store but wish I had.  Fun print that can be worn casually, for work, or for going out.

Option 11 - Great option for a plain top with some special detailing.  Makes it really easy to dress up or down.

Option 12 - Another one of my wardrobe staples!  Ways I've worn mine HERE.

Option 13 - Aren't polka dot sweaters adorable?  Mine is the reverse colors, white background with black dots, but see it HERE.

Option 14  - I like this one even more up close.  The print is black/white with some flecks of pink!

Option 15 - Also comes in black/white.  Another one of my staples, seen HERE.

If you are trying to build a wardrobe right now, I strongly suggest checking out Old Navy!  And if you're trying to not buy anything, I strongly suggest staying away from Old Navy and closing this post ASAP!  Haha!

  1. Lol! I should probably close this post then! I love all of these pieces and YES they are definitely you.

  2. I love all of the stripes! (I have striped outfit inspirations on my blog today)

The number 11 top reminds me of the Jennifer Aniston top on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2920963/Jennifer-Aniston-shows-toned-arms-Jimmy-Fallon-confesses-revealing-interview.html. Of course, Jennifer's shirt is Givenchy and over $1k. :)

  3. Yes! I was just looking at the new additions on their website yesterday and put way too many things on my possible shopping list. Too bad it's all spring/summer stuff that won't be wearable for at least 3 months here! Although, that gives me plenty of time to narrow it down and watch sales!

  4. How do you like your watch? I've been looking for a gold watch and the price point is great!

  5. Well...I'm lame and haven't worn it yet because I have yet to get it resized! Haha *hides in shame* I can't speak much on use or function because of that, but I will say that I like the aesthetic and feel of it. I like the width, as it's not enormous but still has a presence. It was free shipping and free returns, and I liked it enough to keep it!

  6. Oh, I love Old Navy for affordable stuff. I've already ordered a few times this year :D

  7. I can't believe I read this whole post when I'm on a no-shopping ban through the first quarter-I need to clean out my closet and refocus my budget before Lily Pulitzer drops at Target in April :) But I see so many things I want!

  8. I have a similar sweater as number 6 and I thought I wouldn't like it either. I ended up LOVING it. I wore it with bright pink pants (my coworkers call them my highlighter pants lol) and a black shirt to work last week. It is very versatile. I also wear it to bum it on the weekends. Very comfortable.

  9. Can we just high five for a minute about how much fun it is to bargain shop at Old Navy (and Target, for that matter)? I mean, I can ogle gorgeous high fashion with the best of them, and staple investment pieces are always great, but a quick, inexpensive wardrobe refresher gets me every time!

  10. Hi, I got the app after reading your post. What a great concept!

The only issue I am finding is that it is difficult to remove the background. I feel like the slider is so sensitive. You move it a little to the left and it barely removes any background. You move over a little more, and it almost eliminates the majority of my clothing article!

I even watched their video but still struggling (and c'mon, it can't be that hard). Any tips?

  11. I got my outfit all picked out!

  12. When you get some pixie pants, could you do a post on how to wear them? I keep buying them and returning them because I don't know how to wear them. Everything I see pairs them with short shirts or tucked in shirts. My belly just doesn't agree with that.

  13. I agree that it is sensitive, so I just move it the smallest amount I can at a time in either direction. I dunno, that does the trick for me. If my garments are white or have white in them then I have to do a little more work erasing the bg. I use the bg eraser to get rid of as much as I can without erasing the garment, then use the tap erase and touch eraser to do detail clean up. The tap erase is also sensitive but adjusting the slider small amounts on that also goes a long way.

  14. Thanks for the recommendation for this app. I downloaded it over the weekend and have been actively uploading my wardrobe. Great way to keep track of everything and plan outfits. I especially like to note/comment on where I brought it from, how much it cost etc. The ability to include gift items and bargains is terrific as well. Regarding taking photos where possible, i've managed to get a screen shot of the item from the store website, crop and use it as a photo. These images are often clearer, and taken on a white background, which make it perfect for Stylebook. Other options include using the white sheet or dark background (my dining room table) for lighter clothes. It was great to capture clothing as I ironed it too, before putting away. I'm going to continue to upload new items as I purchase them, and going through existing stuff a few items at a time. it's great, I love it.

  15. I have 3 pairs of the Pixie Pants--black, dark gray, and the black/white
dots in #7--and I love them. I wear them with drapey tees, asymmetric
cardis, and Chucks/Vans/flipflops. They have TONS of stretch--I'm sizing
down next time! The white dots pants are a fave. PS--the drapey tees are key for a tummy--I'm plus size. :)

  16. Good to know, thanks. Sounds like I need to just try a few and see how it goes.

  17. Hey Audrey - Quick question did you order a petite in the t-shirt dress or regular. I just want to make sure it will hit my knees or not too much above my knees. So many dresses are too short for my comfort.

  18. Hi Laquetha! I don't own this exact dress. Mine is a Target dress that looks similar. Sorry! For reference, I don't shop petites. (I'm 5'6")

  19. This darn spending freeze is going to kill me with all the great things Old Navy has right now! Not that I really need anything (other than summer tops - I only have 5 tees and 1 or 2 short-sleeved dresses), but still. I have a couple of rewards that will expire at the end of the month, so I would like to see if I can get a dress or a couple of tees that I can wear in the warm months...but I'm feeling so uninspired. I don't want to just get a bunch of plain, solid-colored tees (boring!), but there aren't many other options out there. So frustrating!

  20. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this awesome recommendation. I've been waiting to download it and I'm glad I did. I'm one of the many people stuck inside for another blizzard in Boston and I'm spending all day taking pics of my wardrobe to upload. Best snow day ever!

  21. Awwww, sorry to hear about the blizzard! Hope you had a fun with Stylebook though. :)
