Don't you love those outfits that just fall together by what feels like an accident? That's how this color combo came about, and I've gotta say...I LOVE IT! Even though I've had access to my entire closet for 4 months now, it still feels strange and I'm still rediscovering it. Enter: grey pants. It's been a long, long time since I've worn these, so I planned an outfit with them. I intended to go with the maroon top and black boots, but when I saw my new cognac boots next to the black ones I liked how cognac tempered the outfit a bit more. Then I saw my mustard scarf lying around (much to Benson's disapproval--that clean freak) and knew it'd tie the whole thing together really well. Plus, the navy coat. Mustard, plum/maroon, grey, navy, cognac--it's a lot of colors, but somehow I think it works. (I hope? If it doesn't work, break it to me in 1 month when the color combo high has worn off. haha :) )
Annnnnd NEW COGNAC BOOTS. FINALLY! After trying on over 10 pairs of riding boots, we have a winner! I was ready to drop $100-$200 on a pair of boots since they're the biggest ticket and most worn item in my closet. But what do you know, these Fergalicious Tiara boots, which were the cheapest of the bunch, won over all the expensive ones. $46 after tax, a sale, and a small discount code!
I'll write a review of them soon, along with 6-7 other boots I tried. (But if you can't wait, the short version is that I'm 8.5 to 9, usually 9 in flats, and got these in 8.5. Also come in wide calf. For height reference, I'm 5'6". Back of shaft is shorter than the front, plus the material is soft, so the height surprisingly didn't bother me.)
Lastly, a few people asked about this mustard scarf last time I wore it because this exact one is sold out. I found quite a few similar ones. Option 1 looks like a particularly close match since my scarf is on the darker side.
