The Vest

This vest has been all over the blogosphere, but that didn't stop me from scooping up one of my own.  I've wanted a vest like this for a very long time, but they were either too pricey for me or too puffy.  The one I'm wearing is a knock-off of a popular J.Crew Factory one (that sometimes goes on sale for 50% off!).  It's from one of those sites that has items for only a few days at crazy discounts, and then the items expire, so it's no longer available.  Sorry!  I'm very pleased that it's not too puffy at all, and I scored it at a price that I was comfortable paying.  Finally got to cross it off my wish list!

The great thing about real life vs. the blogging world in regards to style is that my friends don't read blogs and haven't seen this vest around much, so it's still fresh for them.  I got a ton of compliments on it, which is of course a great feeling.  :)

I featured this vest over a month ago in a post: Herringbone Quilted Vest Four Ways.  Check it out for more outfit ideas!

  1. I saw that same vest or one that looked darn exactly like it on Groopdealz. They often bring back popular items and best sellers so if any of your readers are interested they can keep checking back and they will probably restock it soon!

  2. Sometimes when an item is so unbelievably popular (like this vest) there's a pretty good reason. Usually that means it's worth investing in where ever you can find the one you like! It's a great versatile piece. I ended up going with red/black buffalo plaid though.

  3. Such a spot on knock off. I've seen this vest all over too & I wouldn't know it wasn't authentic. :] // ▲ itsCarmen.com ▲

  4. What's the inside like? I got a tweed one from Old Navy only to be disappointed that it was lined with flannel. Not very SoCal appropriate, so I ended up returning it. :S

  5. The inside is like...water resistant...? Dunno what that's called, but definitely not flannel! I tried the recent Old Navy one. It was too puffy for me. And kinda scratchy!

  6. It's giving me vest fever. If I can find a thinner solid one I might go for it depending on price. Buffalo checks sound awesome!

  9. Cute, cute, cute. Great vest, and I love what you put it with - I like how it can be dressed up a bit vs. a regular puffy vest.

I get that real life vs. blogger thing for sure - the nice thing is even if you feel a little old news posting it on the blog, you still get to enjoy it big time in real life because you love it and everyone else thinks you're super fashionable and good at picking out clothes :)

  12. I agree. This is the first thing I bought from there and I was bummed that shipping wouldn't happen for a couple of weeks after ordering.

  13. Yes! I'm so excited to actually see this vest on an actual person! I grabbed this from Groupdealz on black Friday and now I'm even more excited about getting it. FYI, if anyone is a member of StitchFix they also have a herringbone vest for around $80 that looks exactly like this one. I got it in my fix last month but sent it back because I was waiting on the Groupdealz one.

  14. I love the vest with that blouse--so cute! And I completely agree about blog life vs. real life. I sometimes feel weird for buying something that a lot of people have in the blogging world, but most of the time my friends have never seen or worn the item. I don't know a single person with the herringbone vest in "real life".

  17. Is the price on Jane.com reasonable? With shipping it will cost about $40 and J.Crew one will be about $55 when 50% off (not sure if there will be shipping cost) Was GroopDealz price much better? I can't decide if I should wait for another round of GroopDealz or buy now on Jane.com or wiat for J.Crew sale? Any suggestions?

  18. I saw this vest when it was on sale and was on the fence about it. Now that I see it on you I love it!

  25. Oooh! Your version of the vest is so great! I love that it's not super puffy, and it looks super cute with that maroon blouse :) I still haven't seen a vest like this in real life, to be honest - isn't that crazy?!

  26. I had a giggle when you said your friends don't read fashion blogs and haven't seen the vest around much. I still get compliments on my bubble necklace!! I don't know anyone IRL that owns one. Isn't funny how it works sometimes?
