Polka Dots and Herringbone Vest

You know what's cool?  Looking back at the ways I've worn this top and realizing I was 4-8 weeks pregnant at the time and hadn't told you guys yet.  (See them HERE.)  I was wondering why I'd had this top for a year and have hardly worn it.  Cuz I was pregnant for most of that time!

This is another one of those tops that has a subtle pattern (or at least one that's not in-your-face loud) and neutral base that I talk about to death as really versatile.  I think most of my closet is made up of those kinds of tops these days.  Now that it's back on my radar I'm looking forward to pairing it with skirts and getting it into a regular rotation.  If you've got a navy polka dot top, what are some ways you've worn yours?  And if you don't, here are some great options:

  3. I love anything navy and olive together, the polka dot top is very cute.

  4. This is the perfect pairing, I love it!

  5. I am reading this post, wearing my navy/white polka dot shirt...with a white puffer vest and maroon pencil skirt! :-)

  6. A polka dot top is a cute piece! :)

I like looking back through my blog seeing when I last wore things too and tying it up with pregnancy milestones, Although like you, I also find a lot of things haven't been worn in a long time, as my pregnant belly couldn't fit in them!

  7. I love that color combo as well.

  8. I have not tried polka dots with my vest yet and I love this!! What a great combo! Susan

  9. Cute! I bet you have lots of "new" clothes now that you're not pregnant. I would probably forget what I had while pregnant and everything would feel new again. lol. I love this outfit on you!

  10. So cute! This is a great outfit.

  11. I'm in SoCal, but I do have a ski jacket for travel and when we occasionally travel to the mountains for snow, other than that I just have 2 "winter" coats that I doubt would hold up to winter anywhere else. I have a black one that has a wonder collar that can come up and cover the neck and lower park of the face and a purple corduroy one with faux fur around the hood.

  12. I just RECENTLY got that toggle coat from Forever 21!! I got the red one (debated on with navy). It's served me pretty well in both Taipei and Beijing during the last 3 weeks of traveling.

I have so many coats... 3 peacoats passed down from my mom, 2 of my own black peacoats before she gave me more, 1 navy trench that I got a few months ago, the red toggle coat I just mentioned, windbreaker jacket for outdoor/mountains, and a Calvin Klein packable long down jacket from Costco (was highly recommended to me by multiple people prior to visiting BJ for the winter, which has been awesome to have, and SO light to wear/pack up).

    I love bundling up haha.

  13. I just saw a VERY similar vest on White Plum! :)

  14. My polka dots are mustard and cream. Navy would work so much better for my closet.

  15. Honestly, living in Minnesota where it gets suuuuper cold in the winter, I find wool coats to be less than ideal. The bitter wind still whips right through the jacket, which annoys me, haha. I only have three jackets: 1) A long, purple puffer coat (Spyder brand) that I paid a pretty penny for several years ago but is incredibly warm and has held up SO well (I wear it when it's under 20ish degrees or if it's windy), 2) A peacoat made of sweatshirt material from Target, which I wear when it's between 20-45 degrees or so, and 3) A houndstooth coat that also kind of looks like a peacoat that is unlined but perfect for 35-55 degree weather.
