Four Ways to Wear a Textured Tee

Do people read blogs on the weekend?  Wellps, my days are all a blur on maternity leave, so I'm posting anyway!

I've mentioned it before, but Old Navy is killing it lately!  I ordered this textured tee online to try it since I couldn't find it in store.  I can't wait to see how it fits, and until it comes I've been dreaming up a storm of ways to wear it.  (It's on sale right now too!)

It's another one of those neutral pieces with interesting details.  Those pieces are amazing workhorses in your closet because they're basically plain and can go with many, many things...except they're not plain at the same time because they have detail or texture and that allows them to stand alone with minimal accessories.  (aka, less work for you to look put together!)

Outfit 1 - Professional
Even though this top is technically a tee it can totally be made work appropriate.  Pair it with some office staples like a pencil skirt, blazer, and pumps and you've got yourself an outfit for work!

Shop Outfit #1:
Tee: Old Navy
Blazer: Target
Skirt: Target
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit 2 - Clean & Classic
I totally love this top paired with maroon trousers.  But of course you could go navy or olive or khaki--any color, really, since the top is also a neutral.  I added a simple cutout pendant and quilted cap toe ballet flats to keep the outfit clean and simple.  I have all these pieces (sans necklace) and I can't wait to wear this!

Shop Outfit #2:
Tee: Old Navy
Pants: Old Navy
Bag: Target
Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit 3 - Cozy Casual
As fall weather kicks in more and more, so will scarves and boots!  Instead of skinny jeans I went with bootcut or trouser jeans for a long, lean line.  Top it all off with a light pink pendant and/or a maroon scarf with chunky boots for a cozy casual look you can bundle up in.

Shop Outfit #3:
Tee: Old Navy
Jeans: Target
Shoes: Target
Scarf: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit 4 - Flirty & Edgy
You can also dress up this tee with a flirty skirt.  I chose purple here, since I actually own this skirt (which is on sale right now and I recommend it!) but you could really do any color with this top.  You could keep the look feminine with a more streamline shoe, but I chose to add some edge to the outfit with a faux leather jacket and chunky ankle boots.  Gotta mix it up sometimes, you know?

Shop Outfit #4:
Tee: Old Navy
Jacket: Old Navy
Skirt: Target
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: Target

Don't you just love the versatility of neutral basics with a little special somethin somethin?

  1. I read on the weekends! : ) I actually saw this shirt at Old Navy a week ago and didn't buy it, and have sort of regretted it ever since. If I keep thinking about it, that is a sign I should probably go buy it, right?

  2. I actually do most of my blog reading and commenting on the weekends, so I was happy to see a post from you! :) I looove this top - how versatile! I have a nice chunk of rewards to use at Old Navy and I really need to place an order before they expire, so I may be adding this shirt to the cart!! I love all of these outfits, but the last two are my favorites!!

  3. I'm with Brynn. My weekends are when I can really catch up on the blogs so this was a gem to be able to read the same day it was published! Everyone has had nothing but good things to say about old navy's fall line up. I need to get to a well stocked store. The college girls in my town purchase everything before I get the opportunity to even get there and look at things!

  4. Kohls actually has what looks like that exact same shirt-- I tried it on today! It was super comfortable and fit pretty well. I think it was in the Petites section.

  5. Ahh I LOVE fall style! I'm counting down the days til the temps finally begin dropping (I'm in NY and it looks like the temps will be in the 60's in about 2 weeks...yay!). I have a question regarding outfit #4. Do you own or have you seen in person the moto jacket from Old Navy? I like it a lot but I'm not sure how it'll feel. I want a soft jacket. Haven't seen this piece in my local ON so that's why I'm asking. Thanks!

  6. The only thing I don't like about the weekend is that I don't get to read much new material from my favorite bloggers, so thank you for this Saturday surprise! I'm a teacher and wear textured tees often to work- so easy to layer and so many more fun colors to add some pop to a regular outfit.

  7. Would you wear tights or bare legs or knee socks rolled down with the boots in 4? I am a youthful near 60. Can I pull those boots off, or should I go with something a little less punky?
