Dressed Down With Leopard Sneakers

You know what can revive an old piece in a snap?  New shoes, my friends.  New shoes.

This dress is super duper duper duper old.  Older than this blog kind of old, which is why it never debuted here.  I almost got rid of it several times but couldn’t ever let go of such a great fitting piece.  Especially one with pockets.  Hello!  <3  But, I always felt like I needed to wear heels with this dress and therefore didn’t want to wear it much.

Enter: leopard sneaks.  Who knew leopard sneakers would perfectly dress down a tailored black shirt dress and therefore save it from its doom?  Meant to be, if I do say so myself!

I wore this to an appointment with Addie, complete with my Lily Jade diaper bag that now for real holds diapers.  Oh, and all those questions I’ve gotten about outfits to nurse in?  A button-down shirt dress is one for the books!

  1. No bump!! Looking great, mama. Super smart to dress this down with fun sneakers, and turns out super smart to hang onto the dress - great for feeling put-together but still being able to nurse.

  2. Hi! Long time reader here, but I don't know if I have ever commented! I have a very similar dress from H&M that's also super duper old! I was going to get rid of it because it fits tight in the bust and arms and always has, even after losing a bunch of weight (which is so weird and annoying...) Anyway, maybe I'll try it this way before it meets its fate, too! :-)

  4. Wow, so that's what you look like when you are just all baby! I gained 45lbs for each of my 3 pregnancies and now my youngest is 5 and I still have 30lbs to lose!! You look fabulous, cute outfit and even cuter baby.

  12. You look amazing! I love this idea, I have an old Michael Kors casual dress that I could never figure out the shoe for. I love the idea of pairing it with leopard kicks! Congrats on new baby (she's adorable) and the new house.

  13. Okay, 1) that is the dress I have been searching for high and low for two years and 2) how on earth did you bounce back that fast? Even with my second where I lost weight during the pregnancy, I had loose tummy for several weeks. You look amazing!

  14. You look great! Love this cute outfit with the dress, sneakers and belt. I was not this out together after having my son but I did have a c section so I couldn't have anything touching my belly for over a month

  17. That dress looks fab and very on-trend with the addition of the sneakers. Great that it's breastfeeding-friendly, too. My go-to outfit as a nursing mom was a button down shirt layered under a pullover sweater.

  31. I've had the same dress for years and just LOVE it! Sadly it's not look quite so black anymore but I love your idea of pairing it with leopard print sneaks. I've always worn it with pumps or high heels boots as well, so I think especially because it's faded, casual shoes are a great option. PS: You are looking SO good girl! Werk those pockets ;)

  32. Ordering these now! I wanted to get some leopard shoes for this fall, but I have 3-4 pairs of ballet-type flats already. These will be so fun with leggings, which I'm also getting brave enough to buy this season. I'm also thinking about getting some leopard pumps. The "Meg" ones at Target now are my namesake, so I feel it must be fate! Any tips on wearing pumps more casually? I'm a stay-at-home mom, but I'd like to were them more than just to dinners out and church.

  34. I have this same dress in khaki and I love it. I've been keeping it around with the hopes of losing a few pounds so it will fit me again, and you've given me new inspiration for it! Also, you're looking great :-)

  41. Thanks Audrey for this outfit! I have a similar dress (the top half of mine is grey) and I only ever wore it to work. But now that I work from home I never wear it cause its just to 'office-y'. I would have never thought to pair it with sneakers! Yay!

  42. Woohoo! I know how good that feels, so I'm glad you get to make use of your similar dress now too!
