Shop Intro: Lilac Clothing - Maternity and NON-Maternity!

Not too long ago I was griping about maternity jeans (surprise, surprise) when a reader, Melissa, told me to check out Lilac Clothing, specifically that something was special about their jeans.  Before I could even get to it, Melissa had contacted Lilac and they got in touch with me so that I could try some pieces from their store.  (THANK YOU, Melissa!)

What's intriguing to me about Lilac Clothing is that they design their line to accommodate all stages and body changes, whether you've never had a baby, whether you're pregnant, or whether you've just had a baby.  (Read more on their About Us page.)

If you look on their site you'll also notice that the same pieces are shown in both the maternity and regular, non-maternity section on pregnant and non-pregnant models.  You can see how the same pieces work on different body shapes.  Pretty cool!  And it means you don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe at all the different stages!

I got to try 3 pieces, one of which is a pair of Lilac Clothing's jeans, which I'll get to below!

Dress: c/o Lilac Clothing (exact)  |  Shoes: Target (exact)  |  Clutch: DSW (exact)

This is a classic sheath dress, but with its ruching on the sides it can grow with your body.  (See it on a non-pregnant body here.)  I was surprised by how sturdy the material is.  It seems well made and like it would last a while.  It also comes in grey and in a black/white stripe.

I dressed this up for an upcoming summer wedding, but it can also be a little more casual with black booties and a faux leather jacket for a night out.  You could also probably pair it with a denim jacket, sandals, and a colorful statement necklace or scarf for casual wear.

Another well-made, quality piece with built in lining.  Not that you'd need the lining since this material is also a good weight!  It has an empire waist to work with a growing bump, but again, it's shown on a model without a bump too.  Really comfortable and easy to wear.  It comes in a moss green as well as a watercolor print that I LOVE, but wasn't in stock in my size.  :(

This would be a great dress for work, paired with neutral pumps.  You could throw on a black or white blazer as well.  I added a cobalt necklace because you know how I roll--usually with a pop of color!

And finally, Lilac's famous denim.  I've had one hell of a time finding a pair of normal maternity skinny jeans, which is why you haven't really seen me in any lately.  I've tried a billion stores already, and it's drama.  When I heard about Lilac Denim I was so curious to know what the big deal was!  How is it different from other maternity jeans?  How is it good for people who aren't pregnant too?

WELL, in addition to having a maternity panel, these jeans have an internal adjustable waistband that you can make tighter or looser depending on what stage your body is in.  It grows and shrinks with you!

There's an elastic waistband that you can secure with a button on each side, and you can pull the waistband tighter or expand it depending on your needs.  That way the waist fits you perfectly every time!

maternity panel!

Plus, the panel is really comfy.  I've been picky about maternity panels, but this material is super soft, doesn't irritate my dry skin, and does not uncomfortably squeeze you like many panels I've tried.  This panel is a winner!  Even if you're not pregnant, the panel can be folded down to make a very comfy waistband, or you can utilize it as shape wear to help give structure and support to your midsection.

Honestly, they seem to get comfier the longer I wear them too.  Gotta love a pair of jeans that does that!

I love this bright coral pair, but it also comes in cobalt, polka dots (!!), teal (!!), white, burgundy, and several different cuts of regular blue denim.

I know they are way more expensive than I'm used to paying for and featuring on this blog, BUT Lilac Clothing is offering us a whopping 30% off their Spring 2014 line and all denim with code PMTLOVE!

If you are looking for quality pieces that accommodate your body at various stages--whether it's from pregnancy or other reasons for weight fluctuation--I highly recommend Lilac Clothing!  Remember to use the discount code PMTLOVE!

  1. You look gorgeous in all of these looks...seriously stunning! Everything looks like it is well made and fits you perfectly.

  2. I love the green dress on you! Very sassy and cute!!

  3. wow, you look great, as always. You've got a lot of jewellery :)

  4. I usually don't write comments but now I have to because you are truly gorgeous! The green dress looks fantastic on you!
    (your fan from Hungary:))

  5. So glad you found these great items! That adjustable waistband is smart, because by the time I was at about 34-35 weeks, the extreme roundness/hugeness of my bump started repelling pants. You need to be able to adjust as you change shape! And I'm intrigued by the idea of the rest changing with you, because things I bought thinking they might also be good post-partum just didn't really end up working out right with fit... Anyway, love the ruched dress on you especially. Something similar was my go-to - such a good base for a variety of outfis.

  6. That black and white dress and those pants are a great find! If only I had them when I was pregnant last spring! I also love that there's maternity and non maternity choices. Definitely versatile for a new momma's closet

    Thank you for this post!

  7. Yay! So glad I was able to help solve the skinny jean problem! Pretty please post another review during the postpartum period. I really wanted to hear about how they work after babies. My body has never quite been the same and I still can't find jeans that fit right. The muffin top of skin is squished up by low rise pants and it's worse with modernise. And high. Rise look like granny jeans...well unless they have those fun sailor styling. I'm willing to invest in Lilac if they'll solve my Jean woes.

  8. I love that the page for the green dress lists "bra friendly" as one of its perks. Like, YES. Finally, a website that gets it.

  9. You look uh-mazing in that green dress!!! Wow!

Also! those adjustable waist bands? A lot of kids' pants come with those now! Starting probably around age 2 or 3 years all the way up to preteen. Just something to tuck away for future reference!! :)

  10. Hahahaha those things inside the jeans are how kid's jeans are made. I love it! They should put them in regular jeans for "fluffy days."
That green dress on you! You look stunning.

  11. Thank you so much, Judit! That's so sweet of you!

  12. I was inspired to try the green dress after seeing your navy one on you while preggo. You looked so good in that dress!

  13. Haha yeah! Thick straps...definitely bra friendly.

  14. Thank you, Jennifer! Good to know about the kid pants. Genius!

  15. Haha, thank you!! I kind of can't believe how big it is either. I feel like it grows so much bigger every DAY. Got 8 weeks go to!

  16. All of these pieces are so cute!! I particularly love the green dress.
I am definitely filing this away for when the time comes for cute maternity clothing.

  17. GURL. that green dress is so sassy! You look amazing in all three outfits.
