Flower Power

I can't believe we are down to single digits in number of weeks left until this baby arrives.  She's noticeably bigger every week, and I'm *finally* getting definitive comments from strangers about being pregnant.

On the style and wardrobe front...I'm not gonna lie.  I sneak longing glances at the rest of my closet.  Don't get me wrong.  While temporarily trading in your wardrobe to get to be a mom is a sliver of a "sacrifice," a girl can mourn, can't she?

Anyway, it makes me appreciate all the more being able to wear a current piece like a floral skirt.  It feels so refreshing that it's almost dumb.  But whatever.  You'd better believe I'm taking what I can get and soaking it up!

There are some really great options out in stores right now.  Namely the three in the top row--first two being well-priced from Target and the third being the exact one I'm wearing.  I also showed two pretty knee-length ones on the bottom in case maxis aren't your thing.  And I think #6 is supposed to be mid-length, but I didn't read the description carefully.

  1. Not long to go now! You're still managing to look stylish :) Those last few weeks are the hardest wardrobe-wise, like you said it's a minor thing, but it definitely helps it sink in that baby will be here soon as your belly expands it's way out of the majority of your wardrobe :)

  2. It seems like most white tank tops these days are see through. Did you double up on tanks or is this one just a lot thicker? Where do you find thick enough tank tops?

  3. You look amazing!!!!! I wish I looked that good when I was pregnant. You're almost done and then you're going to miss that belly. I miss feeling my son move.

  4. Ummm do you have some sort of secret about how you've managed to ONLY gain weight in your belly? Seriously, if I scroll so I can only see the top half of your body, you don't even look pregnant at all. Share your trick with the rest of us, haha!

  8. Ahh 31 weeks! I am so excited for you! Being a mom is so much fun.. even when it's hard :-) I remember that feeling of missing my non-pregnant clothes - I'm still missing them because I have some leftover bump to lose, lol. -Rachel (For the Birds)

  9. I love the idea of belting a maxi skirt over the bump, but whenever I try that, it looks ridiculous and I end up wearing my skirts under the bump like always. Do you think over the bump works well with this skirt because of the slit detail in front? Or is there some other trick you use?

  10. The weird thing is that this tank is not that see-through on the top with a nude bra, but the stomach part is kind of see-through. I could get away with it because the skirt covered up the torso.

I have a non-maternity Old Navy tank that isn't see through.

  12. Haha, you're too sweet, Emma! Might just be the luck of the draw? Other than that, I walk about 3-5 miles a day and try to limit my starches. Not sure how much that has to do with it, but I eat lots of protein, veggies and fruit...and uh...sugar.

  14. I think it depends on the person's build, how they carry, and the skirt. For me, a-line and pleated skirts haven't worked well. While they fit over my bump, they just drape down straight from the bump and make me look huge. This skirt worked because it's a little more fitted, so when it falls off the bump it gives more definition. Not sure if that helped with your question!

  15. Thanks Audrey! That does help, actually. At least now I know I just need to keep trying different style skirts instead of thinking I'm doing something wrong!

  23. I calls 'em as I sees 'em :) That walking must be doing the trick for you! I know a lot of women use pregnancy as an excuse to stop working out because they're "supposed" to get big. I'm sure I'll be tempted to do just that when the time comes, haha! Thanks for sharing :)
