Sunny Days

Ooooops.  First thing's first.  Yesterday I was very wrong about the coral Target satchel.  I saw it in store after posting, and it is not the coral one from last spring.  (I saw the actual coral one last year in store, and this one is not it!)  This year it's definitely HOT PINK.  I was so shocked at how bright it was that I laughed out loud in the store!  It's bright and fun, but not what I was expecting.  Sorry if I led anyone astray!  Lesson: I can't be trusted.

Anyway, we're hanging out poolside this weekend, and this summery print is getting me in the mood for it!  Too bad it's been gloomtastic the last few days here.  We call it "May Grey" and "June Gloom"--does that exist anywhere else, or just here?  Hopefully you've got some fun plans for the weekend and sunny days ahead to enjoy them!

  1. You obviously haven't been to Vancouver!!!! :) We are all about May Grey and June Gloom. It sucks!!!!! It's currently raining like the dickens. But what can you do??? Love your dress belted with the navy cardigan. Very pretty.

  6. Hi Audrey! I've been a reader for a while. I love all the dresses that you wear, but when I look to buy them, I see that most of the dresses have very thin straps. As a woman with a more full figure, I have to wear a bra, and I hate having my bra straps show. I notice that you normally wear your dresses with a blazer or cardi over, is it to hide bra straps?

  7. Hi! That's not the reason I usually have a blazer or cardi--it's because I live near the ocean and there's a chilly breeze and I'm a big wimp. Haha! I'd usually wear a strapless bra with thin strapped tops. However, if I had a larger chest I probably wouldn't personally wear thinner strapped dresses and a strapless bra because I'd desire more support. There are dresses out there with thicker straps. Actually, most of the dresses I own have thicker straps and I don't have to wear a strapless bra often, with the exception of just a couple. But perhaps the ones I link to as options have thin straps. I'll try to look for more options with thicker straps in the future!

  8. This dress is such a pretty pattern - I love the orange paired with the blue!

  9. Love the belt! It has an interesting structured pattern. I'm hoping June Gloom in Santa Barbara will be short lived! It always makes it harder to wake up in the morning and feel like it's summer!

  13. Thanks for the tip! I'm 27 weeks with baby girl #2. I had to give up the hair tie trick much sooner with this pregnancy. Thanks so much for the maternity, and general, style tips!

  14. You are too cute for words, Audrey! That maxi is gorgeous, and I really like the cognac accents with it. Hoping you have sunnier days this weekend! :)

  15. Thanks, Kel. Most of the ones I've seen for men are still not quite starting from the very basics, but hopefully these help a little:

  19. Haha, thanks Ash! I hit my third trimester yesterday, so the bump is here in full force and growing daily. Kinda crazy!

  20. Hi! I'm considering buying that maxi. Is it washable?

  21. Oh yes, we definitely get June Gloom here in Long Beach. Our hottest months are August, September, October and January although we were in the 100s here at the start of the month. I'm excited to head out to Vegas today for some summer heat!

  22. LOL, that bag does look coral in the pictures. Deceiving! Love your maxi.

  24. I just decided yesterday that I'm keeping these over the CL Laundry pair. These are more comfy--and cheaper!

  25. Ack...I can't find any tag that has wash instructions! Might want to contact the store and see. Sorry, wish I could help!

  26. The title of your blog reminds me of that song from Sesame Street. We have a video of my brother singing it in the bathtub with a super cute scratchy voice when he was almost 2-years-old, and it's the best. That dress, by the way, is so pretty. It reminds me of that one you got for your birthday (I think?) a couple years ago! The colors and print are so fun!

  27. I'm so with you on the cargo vest. They're the perfect completer for so many outfits!! I recently wore mine with a nicer dress to dress it down, and I loved how it looked :) Cargo vests better not go out of style any time soon...

  28. I start thinking of Sesame Street too! And yeah, this dress is really similar to the one for my birthday, but it was hard to find something else from the store that might fit over my little baby bump! hehe

  29. I bet it's getting trickier! Both my cousin and my best friend are pregnant and due this fall (one in September and one in November), and I sent them your blog since they both have been struggling with what to wear as their bellies are getting bigger - they both are loving your blog so far :)
