Been Too Long

Compiling that blazer post earlier this week inspired me to bust out this teal maxi dress.  It's been too long, friend.  It's simple, but oh-so-comfy.  Tell me you have a plain jersey dress in your closet!  Though I have hardly scratched the surface of options, it can be paired with a ton of different necklaces and scarves or with patterned layering pieces such as a striped blazer or cardigan.  And with that, I've just convinced myself that this dress needs to come back into regular rotation.  Take it on the babymoon perhaps?

What's your favorite way to style a plain jersey dress?

  3. Agreed, jersey maxis are super comfortable! But--how do you cover up the weird undergarment lines you get from those things?

  14. Question: I work in a lab where I have to wear closed toed shoes. Normally I wear sandals with my maxi dresses. Any suggestions for shoes I could wear that would be acceptable for work but not look silly?

  15. Cute outfit. :) I usually like to adda denim jacket & scarf with my plain dresses. With a shorter one, I like my cowboy boots, too. Now it is way too HOT, so I go with a cute necklace and espadrilles. :)

  17. i have one of these, too, but a bit more cobalt from target circa 2011 or so and it's showing its wear (it IS that comfy!). do you think these are items that should be updated on the regular (each year?) or is there something i can do to liven it up again in the laundry? thanks!

  18. Mine is from 2012, and other jersey dresses I have date back to like 2010 or even 2009! It depends on the material...some definitely hold up better than others. When the material looks TOO soft, like it'll pill easily, I usually hand wash and always air dry.

  21. Love the idea of pairing a blazer with a maxi to elevate it a bit! Cute.
My sister lived in maxi dresses during her pregnancy two years ago. She said it was the only thing that kept her cool enough being 8 months pregnant in the July heat in Alabama!

  22. Please do an undergarment post. I see so many women who don't realize what their jersey dresses look like from behind. I always wear slips under jersey. Do you have a long slip that you wear under maxis? Have you found a good maternity slip?

  23. I haven't needed a maternity slip yet. I haven't bought many maternity things in general yet. My normal slips have a forgiving waist. And I don't have a special slip for maxi's because I only need it to cover my rear, not the length of the whole skirt.

  24. I really love simple jersey dresses like this - they are the perfect blank canvasses to dress up, down, wear plain, or dress up :) And they couldn't be more comfortable, either!!
