Casual Days

Just when I talked yesterday about not usually being matchy-matchy I have an ALL BLUE outfit.  And the outfit lined up for tomorrow is green on green.   Let this be a lesson that you should not believe a word I say.

I'm about leave for two back-to-back trips again, so things have been nuts trying to get ready for them.  One of them includes an annual spring break retreat with the college students I work with, so much of this week and last has been / will be spent couped up at a desk preparing what I'm teaching for the week.

This means I've got a slew of very casual outfits coming your way that include blue jeans and t-shirts.  (As if my normal outfits are oh-so-dressed-up.)  Not only have I been repeating outfits because of pregnancy, but also because I just don't really care this week.  And, I'll be wearing them at the pseudo-campground island where the retreat will be.

So if you've been looking for pretty casual outfits, here you go!  Jeans, a plain v-neck tee, a patterned cardi, and a necklace.  A patterned cardi covers a multitude of sins, lemme tell ya.  Get one of these in your arsenal stat if you're a jeans and t-shirt gal--it instantly makes it look like you tried a little!

  1. So exciting to see your little baby bump! Just curious: is your retreat on Catalina island? I grew up going to camps on Catalina, and my husband and I spent part of our honeymoon there, so it is a place very dear to my heart!

  2. I used to have a stripy cardi just like this and you're right, I stuck it on with jeans and a necklace and it looked like I was quite dressed up! I love your casual outfit :-)

  3. Thanks! My bump is still pretty hide-able at this point, but if I hold it like in today's pic you can tell haha.

And YES to Catalina! Our organization has it's own campground on part of the island so we are there often. So beautiful!

  4. Patterned cardigans are so great, I really need to add one to my wardrobe. My favorite thing to wear over, well anything, is a cardi. Having one in a pattern would greatly increase the interest as I've seen with yours!

I enjoyed watching the little web show hangout last night. I'm bummed you weren't featured much but it was still crazy to hear your voice! I always wonder about what bloggers sound like in real life so it's crazy to hear them. Can't wait to see how you style those new pieces, especially that gorgeous floral skirt!

  5. I'm jealous. I want to go one Spring Break. My Husband and I never did the typical Spring Break. We signed up for archaeological digs through school or went spelunking or other quite nerdy things. I'd go to Panama at least once if I could go back!
I like the monochromatic look. It makes you look taller! Cute lil' baby bump too.

Love this look and use it often. It is entertaining seeing your baby bump. I am due Aug 19th, with my 4th, and my bump is much bigger :) Understandably so.

  7. Blue is one of the non-neutrals I wear the most - but let's be honest, it pretty much is a neutral. Love this look!

  8. I am SO happy for you and that baby in there and I LOVE that you are keeping it real! You're newly pregnant, you're a full time worker and you have a successful blog (which I believe is, in part, due to the fact that you make these great, easy and honest posts)!!!

I like simple, I like easy, I like tone on tone (or matchy matchy ;) ) looks, so keep it coming!!

Thanks for sharing your time with us...I don't comment much but read every day!!

  9. Nicely put together, Audrey! That necklace is the focal point of the outfit! Have fun at the retreat!

  10. Love how well you do monochrome! :)

The striped cardi is really nice with the tee :) good luck getting ready for your trips!

I usually opt for a patterned T and solid cardigan...might need to think about switching it up!

  15. Your casual style is perfect for me! Thanks a bunch for sharing your baby update with all of us! We are all so excited for you and this journey! Being a Mom is the best gift!!!

  16. Great casual look. I love cardigans and stripes!!!

  17. This is so cute - I could easily wear an outfit like this to work with some ponte pants or even my black skinny jeans. I used to have a navy and white striped cardigan, but the stripes were suuuper little and I didn't like it so much. The wide, bold stripes on your cardigan are really fun.
