Unrestricted

Whoops, forgot to post this on Friday.  I've been searching for a short sleeved striped tee replacement for what feels like forEVER, so I'm relieved to have found this one from Loft.  What I'm *not* excited about is that on Friday it was in stock online and 40% off, and when I checked again just now it's sold out online.  It might still be in stores though, so use the "Find in a Store" feature on their site for your size.

I personally don't love shirts with curved hems, so I'll probably alter the hem to make it straight.  Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it and have been wearing this non-stop, usually with jeans but once with this maxi skirt on a day I wanted to feel less restricted.  Because...yeah.  Some days are just those kind of days.  I know you know what I'm talking about.  And it worked.  I felt so unrestricted that I ended our team meeting early and took all of my staff out for ice cream where each of us little piggies downed double scoops of creamy goodness.  If maxi skirts are going to make those kinda days end in ice cream, they can be my new best friends.

  2. I saw the skirt in Target on Friday but I'm so short I didn't bother to try it on. Now that I see your outfit, I'm regretting that decision. Perhaps it's time to learn to use a sewing machine.

  3. Such a cute outfit, and looks super-comfy, too! I also love your hair styled like that - super cute!

Such a comfortable, casual outfit for a Friday at work!

I love that the necklace has yellow in it too, how perfect (unless it's a reflection of the sweater off the metal? .. either way it's perfect)! :)

  6. The hair! The Notre Dame/CAL colors! Stripes! I dunno if it's one of these or the overall combo, but this has got to be my fave outfit of yours to date! Love!

  7. I totally hear you on the curved hem. I really like how it is folded up and made straight, so like I said I'm probably gonna alter it.

  15. Good to know about the cardigan! Oh, and the hair--thank you!!

  16. Thank you, Ashleigh! My hair is super straight but somehow it really, really, REALLY holds a curl. I used a curling wand to curl small sections, alternating each section between curling towards my face and away from my face. Sprayed with hairspray, let it it set, then pulled it apart to soften the curls and sprayed again.

  22. I'm 5'3" and usually roll or tuck it in at the waist to make it the right length. Faster and easier than actually getting out my sewing machine and fixing it I guess.

I love this outfit. It feels like a breath of spring in the middle of winter, and you're rocking the new wavy hairstyle.

  25. You.crack.me.up. I'm weird about colors, too, but this one is the color of the year now, so you were totally the trendsetter! :)

  26. This hair is gorgeous on you! I also really like the pop of brights with the neutral print. And now I'm going to have to check out the Nordstrom cafe- I thought they only served coffee. Hmm. I'm intrigued.

  28. I meant to post this when this went up, but the comment thing just wouldn't work for me. Soooo, really late to the game, I love that color, too! Near the end of my college (undergrad) career, around 2008/2009, I remember that color was VERY popular, especially at my absolute very favorite clothing place of the time, AT LOFT! I think in the few years since then it has not been as popular for new clothes coming out, but it's not far from a color that Project Runway told me was very hot for next year, and that's about as hip as I can handle. So wear it with pride! Also because it looks great on you and I firmly believe that it doesn't matter what color is in as long as you like it. I love my (two) sweaters in almost the exact same color!

P.S. In your more recent blazer post, you list a maroon blazer. I found one really cheap last year, and I like the way it fits but have a stupid mental block about putting it into outfits. Do you actually have a maroon one? If so, could you put it with stuff so I can see it working? I'm really disappointed that I haven't worked it in better and wish I had just held out for a true red one. Thanks!

  29. I've never tried a maxi skirt for those days. I tend to avoid skirts for some reason. But seeing as your day ended in ice-cream I am totally trying it! :P

  30. Love the outfit! And I'm with you on wearing skirts/dresses on *those* days. Sometimes it's just necessary.
