Puffer Vests

I love my cargo vest, but I've always wanted a puffier vest too.  Like, always.  Even before I ever cared about cargo vests.  But it's never been something that I feel like I *need* in my wardrobe so it's always put on the back burner.  I got this one free from SheInside, and honestly it would be perrrrfect if it came in a larger size.  Not too puffy, and has a fun knit collar.  So, full disclosure, I haven't worn this outfit because the vest is slightly too small, but I really like the look of it!  H&M has a cute vest option out right now, though I still like this SheInside one better.  Not to mention that nothing beats $free.99.

SO, the vest thing might have to stay on the back burner unless you can convince me of why it needs to move to the top of my list!  Are you these kinds of vests?

  1. Your bag is so cute....looking for a small bag.....I have a large bag and end up putting too much rubbish in it!!

  2. The knit detail around the collar makes it pretty awesome! Too bad it's not a comfortable size... I'm guessing that if it's that way for you, it would definitely be too small for me too (I like clothes a little bit loose, especially for layering!)

  4. I had been meaning to buy a down vest for a long time and finally bought one last week when it was half off from Lands End. I like it with a simple striped long sleeve tee, over sweaters, over a flannel shirt, and loooove wearing it out on runs in the cold. So it's pretty versatile!

  5. Love it on you! And it looks so fun over the dots.

  6. This outfit is genius! Love the top and bottom together, such a flattering way to wear white. Your outfits are always so cute!

  9. Why you should get a puffer vest: :)
I bought a puffer vest at Old Navy a couple months ago after wanting one for a looooong time, and have barely taken it off. I wear it over a casual long-sleeve tee or a plaid flannel shirt or a sweater or a nicer patterned button-down, with a scarf, or necklace...I've found that it's a very easy way to add interest to an outfit, because it's such a basic layer that can go with almost anything. I want more in more colors, now!

  10. I really like the monochromatic look of this outfit -- it's very "winter" inspired with the blue and white paired together. I have never been a lover of the puffer vests on myself (due mostly to my larger chest), but it looks so cute on you -- maybe I will give it another try with a size larger.

  11. Hahaha, I love free.99! and the vest is super cute- very unique shape and I love the knit collar.

Also, I really love the white jeans plus the grey booties. I'm so impressed you can wear white jeans in the winter (I'd get them dirty so fast!) and they look awesome on you. I still haven't been able to find the perfect pair of white jeans yet! Ok, so I know you've been wearing these white jeans a lot in the past few weeks, but I think with the brown knee high boots, the stark contrast between the jeans + boots visually sections off your legs, and I like this look a lot better because it's more streamlined and clean. But of course, this look means that the jeans are closer to the ground and have more of a chance to get dirty from dust/mud getting kicked up so I guess there's pros and cons to every choice :)

  12. I am totally into vests. I have thicker ones in white, black, brown, red, and a thinner quilted navy and pink. i LOVE them. I wear them all the time. I need the warmth where I live and you might not, but they are great layering pieces.

  13. I found this vest for a deal as part of joe fresh for JC Penny's http://t.jcpenney.com/tablet/jsp/browse/pp/product.jsp?ppId=pp5003170158&categoryId=cat1003160017&deptId=dept20000013&regId=&cmcatId=cat100250123&currentDim=&dimCombo=&currentDimVal=&dimComboVal=&grMode=. I ordered the red and I love it so much more that I ever thought I would I wore it last weekend with a black and white striped top and black jeans. I was so cozy! The red is kind of that trendy "flame" color .

  14. I've had trouble finding the perfect puffer too. The really puffy ones are plenty warm, but they also make me look like a giant marshmallow. So I am always on the lookout for thinner, more flattering ones to wear in slightly warmer temps. I really like the look of the H & M one you linked to!

  15. Hi, Audrey. I really enjoy looking at your outfit ideas. Today's is definitely something I would wear. Just wondering...you mentioned that this vest only comes in one size. Would you care to mention your measurements so I know how to gauge the fit? Thx!!

  16. Was it this Lands End vest? http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-down-vest/id_253843

I saw it while searching for alternative options and I LOVED it, but it's only available in XL now. It's so cute!

  19. Thank you, Abby! There might be slimmer puffer vests that could work better for you!

  20. The sad thing is I'm always cold in San Diego!

  21. Ditto! I'm very small chested and really puffy ones still make me look (and feel) like a marshmallow.

  22. Hey Lynn! The measurements are on the site: 84cm bust, 59cm length.

  23. No I don't wear puffer vests. I stick with my khaki vest, dark charcoal grey vest, black vest (all zip-ups) & my denim vest because they're thinner and don't make me feel like the Michelin Man. I add a thermal skivvy underneath or a scarf on top for extra warmth. Gotta stick with what feels comfy despite the trends because it would hang in my closet and wouldn't get worn!

I love the number 5 sweater you noted from old navy, but when I click on the link it brings me elsewhere and I cannot find the sweater through search. Help!
And I love the vest you are wearing! It doesn't look to small. Great outfit!
