Good Decisions...and Those Target Tops

There are some outfits, like today's, that make me go, "Sheesh, same old pieces AGAIN?" until another voice in me is like, "That can be a good thing.  Duh."  These are all pieces that I've had for a while now, and while the blogging side of me worries that you might be sick of seeing them over and over and OVER again, in real life I try to remind myself that it means I made good purchasing decisions...something I may not always do!  (Re: post on Shopping Mistakes.)

This is an outfit I created around Thanksgiving from the 10 Pieces 14 Outfits post that I loved and finally, finally wore.  As time passes and I'm still wearing outfits from that project I realize how many possibilities there are in a closet if you just give it a little time and attention.  If you haven't in a while, I would encourage you to spend some time in your closet and play around with options!  Or, get on Go Chic or Go Home and do it with your virtual closet so you don't have to clean up anything after.  :)

Lastly, on a totally random note, Una found the link for that sleeveless spotted Target blouse that I wore twice in a row last week!  (Outfits here.)  Finally!  It comes in a bunch of very pretty solids too.  AND, the other top I picked up in that trip is online now!  It's this super duper comfy popover top, and though there are 8 bright and fun colors, I got it in black.

  1. I bought that Target spotted top the other day and paired it with a purple cardigan for work. Thanks for the inspiration, I'm not sure I would've noticed that shirt without you!

  2. When I saw the first image load, my first reactions was "Wow!" and my second was to pin it so I can recreate it!

  3. I think it's refreshing how you actually reuse the items in your closet. You're my blogging inspiration - you keep me real and remind me that novelty is not necessarily the best thing, that I don't need to be constantly purchasing to invent.

  4. I so love that spotted top :)

  5. It's true. I have a tank top from Anthro that I've had for years and I'm still wearing it. Obviously, if I'm still wearing it after 7 years, it works for me.

  6. I wear the same things over and over again too - it is a good thing! As long as you can mix and match it with different pieces, a wardrobe staple as pretty as this deserves to be worn a lot :)

  7. I actually love seeing the repeat pieces. It totally shows which ones are versatile and last a long time. Keep up the good work! :).

  8. I need to be better about purchasing things that are long lasting and flexible! Its definitely not a bad thing to reuse reuse reuse!

  9. I think it's great that you show us many ways to wear a piece. I think reading fashion blogs have created a mind set that clothes are meant to be worn once or twice. If you love it, wear it!

  10. Haha! Sounds like we're roughly the same size. I got it in Medium, but that was to fit around my hips (sz 6/8). However, I think it's really simple to take in the sides at the bust if a Medium is a little too big for you.

  11. Love this post! I have a post coming up shortly that has a similar message. I also get nervous that my readers will get tired of seeing the same pieces over and over again too, but then I think "that's silly". There is nothing like finding versatile pieces that will work over and over again in your wardrobe. As someone who does not have a lot of money and loves fashion and blogging, it's really important to be able to put pieces together that have been around for a while. Great post!

  12. love the green jeans!!!

I love seeing repeat pieces that styled in different ways!

  13. Thanks for the links! I will definitely remember those tops for my next Target trip/order.
I also love those green jeans! I wish Target would restock some of the sizes, as I would totally buy a pair for myself!

  14. Seeing you wear the same clothes on repeat is really helpful to me because I learn a lot about proportion and colour pairings. I keep coming back to your blog because it helps me refine my style and use the clothes I have in imaginative ways. What's truly important, though, is that it's your blog and you get to wear whatever you want, however often you want. If you feel like you have to dress a certain way to keep your readers interested, it might be that blogging will become less enjoyable for you. /unasked-for advice ;)

  15. I bought a polka dot blouse this winter and have worn it with so many different things! Such a great investment piece! Susan

  16. The blazer is really working for you. The cut is very flattering.

  17. Thanks! Sounds like medium it is. :)

  18. Thanks, Agi! I totally love when I see someone being creative with standard pieces that I would have already. It's great to get different perspectives and jog our creativity!

  19. Haha, thanks for the encouragement ;) I agree with you! You've gotta know why you're blogging and hold to it. Like I said in this post, sometimes other voices will creep in but you always have to go back to what works for you and why you're doing what you're doing.
