Bright Blazer for Winter

Similar to white jeans, a bright blazer is another item I tend to eye only during warmer weather.  (A couple more pink blazer outfits here.)  I've gotta say, I love it paired with black bottoms and a scarf, but I think I also just love scarves with blazers, period!  This is an easy combo for styling any brightly colored blazer because it uses closet basics--black jeans, black boots, striped shirt, and a cozy scarf.  Remind me to copy this with my cobalt blazer!

With the white jeans and now the pink blazer, this is kind of turning into a fun game for me--focusing on my typically warmer weather pieces and creating winter outfits with them!  Seriously peoples, you've gotta try it.  I don't know what piece I'm gonna focus on next, but if you've got ideas holler at me!  It's becoming my own personal closet challenge.  And in the meantime, if you've got a bright blazer that you've been hiding away, bust it out!

  1. Just think how amazing the white jeans and the pink (or cobalt) blazer would look together. With your brown boots and that yellow scarf with the blue triangles!! (I think I might just have hired myself as your personal stylist!)

  3. I actually broke out my bright red blazer today! It's been a fun change of pace from the darker winter colors I've been wearing.

  4. This is really quite brilliant. I have a rose / coral blazer that I get to wear only a couple times b/c spring is SO SHORT in Kansas. I'm going to bust it out!!

  5. Ahhhhh great ideas - I'll have to try one of those out this weekend! I hate that they've just been hanging in my closet, looking so lonely since summer haha!

  8. I have a very similar outfit on today (boots, jeans, striped shirt, scarf) - minus the blazer! (which I was eyeing a JCrew one yesterday) I love striped tops so much. However, it's 15 and snowing here, and I will admit that I am wearing socks with my heeled ankle boots (I rolled the hem one less roll, so it's not totally obvious). If my ankles are cold, my whole body is cold LOL! I'm sure I'm breaking some rule out there.

  9. Your black boots really caught my eye. They are so cute! I really like how your closet basics are the foundation for adding the bright blazer & scarf. It's so easy to copy your look with similar items in my own closet. Love seeing another another scarf outfit because we are approaching Autumn/Winter in a few months over here :) TA!

  10. I've seen so many bloggers pick out these brighter springish type pieces lately. It's been brightening my days honestly. I wore pastel pink on Monday as a result. Made me feel a little warmer inside. :)

  12. I am SO happy to see this post! I just recently added a coral blazer to my wishlist for spring (er, late winter), so I am excited to click through the links you provided. Quick question: Would you say that the SheInside one fits true to to size? I'm usually a small, but I often wear mediums in juniors brands like Forever 21. Just curious in case I decide to order it!

  13. I would say follow the measurements they give in centimeters on the site for each letter size. Get a blazer that fits you well and measure its measurements against the ones listed on the site. When in doubt, I recommend getting it a little bigger since the measurements for each letter size aren't vastly different from each other.

  14. Oh, whoops! Guess I didn't read the description too closely to see the measurements. Thanks!

  15. Just wanted to say, I stumbled upon your blog yesterday, and have been reading non-stop! I love you suggestions and style. I have this same cardigan, and I love it. As a fair skinned redhead, I used to shy away from this color, but took a chance on it a couple of years ago. It's now become a wardrobe staple. Thanks for all of your tips!

  19. I love that you remix so many of the pieces you already have instead of already buying new stuff for every post. I really need to focus on wearing what I have instead of buying something new.

  20. I love the smaller size of the Phillip Lim bag, I got the larger one and returned it, as it was just too big for me. I wish I would have purchased the smaller one! I love this pop of color for winter! We have had a ton of snow and temps below zero for weeks!! Susan

  24. I've winterized my summer dresses in the past, if you look through the archives! And on the note of Target...you are either going to love me or hate me for the Shopping Help post I throw up later today. (Hint, it's all from Target.) ;)

  25. I have been winterizing my black and white striped maxi skirt from Loft and loving it - I have worn it with taupe/tan booties and black slouchy-heeled boots, my chunky cream infinity scarf, and bright-colored tops, and a must for a NY-state inhabitant: my EMS long underwear!!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm not familiar with EMS long underwear (is that any surprise? hehe) but I would imagine something like that would be CRUCIAL for NY state! You're inspiring me to bust out my striped maxi skirt!

  27. Thank you for posting this! I keep seeing my coral blazer in my closet and wishing for the weather to warm up so I can wear it. I wasn't sure it would work in the cold weather, but I am seeing now that it is totally workable for winter! I'll definitely be wearing an outfit like this soon...[seriously - I'm so happy you posted this outfit!!]

  28. Haha I'm glad to hear that, Brynn! Break out the coral blazer!

  29. I am planning to order this top and was looking at their size chart. it says size S for Bust size 32 and size M for bust size 36. I am actually 34 and has little bit of baby fat on my tummy. Do you think size M will be ok for me and not too loose?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I measure a 34" bust, but I got this tee (and the blue striped counterpart) both in L. With SheInside I always order the size that gives myself about 2 inches extra at the bust for any of their shirts unless I want it to be skin tight (which is pretty much never...hehe).
