Purpley Magenta

Yep, same top two days in a row.  But at least I washed my hair for you this time.  Annnnd why not same exact stances for pictures from both outfits, while we're at it.  (Not different than any other day though, right?  Heh.)  This was worn to interview another candidate.  Like I said, casual business casual around here.  If you want a more business casual look all you've gotta do is change the black skinny jeans for a black (or grey) trouser and add a heel or a shoe with a slight point and you're good to go.  Or try a skirt and tights if you can't go bare legged.  Easy ways to change the look with the bottom half.

And...is this purplish magenta-ish plum-ish color not cool or something?  Not that I'm *really* asking because obviously I'm wearing it and I love it in this outfit.  I joke about its coolness because this was my very first colored cardigan, and I wore it all.the.time pre-style blogging.  Then I found style blogs and it seemed like no one wore this color.  Was it not cool enough?  Poor purple magenta plum--no one even knows that to call you.  Since I was insecure when I started blogging and was trying too hard to fit in, I neglected this poor thing for way too long.  But the truth is I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!!!  So it's time to come out of hiding, old friend!

  1. I love that colour. One of my skinny pants is in that colour. I'm planning to expand that colour for my fall wardrobe.

  2. I love that color! It's one of my favorites too. I have the same color cardigan and have worn it in our family pictures for the past two years. Such a beautiful pop of color. I hope you showcase it more. Now I'm motivated to check my Target for your black and white top too. Great outfit!

  3. Very pretty! I would call that color 'Orchid', which is Pantone's color of the year. Therefore you're right on trend!

  4. I was also going to say that "Radiant Orchid" was Pantone's color of the year for 2014. :)

  5. It's a lovely color but I dunno if I could pull it off. I shall just admire it from afar on you because you make it look stunning. :)

  6. Love this outfit. I recently acquired a pair of LOFT curvy skinny jeans and I LOVE them. I'm wearing them right now. :-)

And your hair is awesome. That might just be your absolutely perfect length. Super flattering!

  7. You could TOTALLY pull this color off. I think it would look fantastic on you!

  8. Thank you so much, Melissa! And I'm soooo glad you love your LOFT jeans. I can't wear mine enough! They get more comfortable the more I wear them.

  9. Oh, that's a perfect description for this color! And once again I have stumbled into a trend on accident. I have a really good track record for doing that! Haha

  10. I'm a new reader, but love your style :). I bought the same top at Target a few days ago and thought to myself, "this is a piece that Putting Me Together would wear and mix up." I wore it yesterday with the same exact shade cardigan, black trousers and black boots. I giggle to myself when I saw your post yesterday - and then today! Great minds! Thank you for your tips- I'm finding them extremely helpful!

  11. Ohhh, love this look! I have almost the same outfit and wear it often to teach in. I love the color of the cardigan, it goes with so many things!

  12. Haha I love it too!! I've noticed that purple seems to be under-represented in blogland, and has made me question is coolness as well. But I still wear my purple all the time!

  13. This cardigan is very close to Pantones color of the year. It's called radiant orchid. You're on trend and didn't even know it.

  14. According to some savvy commenters, this shade is Pantone's color of the year! haha! Shows how unaware I am about trends. Looks like it's a good year to try to make purple popular in blogland.

  17. Love that colour and it suits you so well!

  18. Can I say how much I love that you wore the same top two days in a row? I swear, you're going to start a trend here. I'm not good with names of colors, but I always thought fuchsia and magenta had hints of pink (unless we're talking Crayola colors) and I don't get that vibe with this cardigan. I think you could hold up your cardigan to this site and come up with the right name?!

  19. No, that pinky-purply color is great! I've had a Loft pencil skirt in that color for a few years now, and it's my absolute favorite. It goes really well with navy blue especially.

  20. Can you post the link again? For some reason I can't click into it :( And yeah, it's definitely not a true fuchsia or true magenta, but it is a *tiny* but more pink in real life than in these pictures. The pictures dulled out the pink and made it look more purple.

  21. I love that top even more with that sweater!

  22. I love this color! I have a top in this purple-y (isn't that a Buddy the Elf word?) color, and I, too, have been neglecting it lately. Love the way this cardigan looks with the black and white top!

  23. Chic outfit, Audrey!
Another way to make the outfit more formal is to add a blazer instead of the cardigan.

  24. I basically had this whole outfit in my closet up until a couple weeks ago when I pulled out the cardigan and it had a hole in it! (I think I have moths. It's the second time in a month I pulled out something with a hole in it, and the other item was brand new...) Anyway, it's funny you post this today, because I am actually planning to wear my outfit that's basically the same but with my royal blue cardigan. I definitely need to replace my purple-y one. It was my favorite cardigan I owned. Thanks for the links!

  25. Such a pretty colour. I bought a burgundy/purplely cardigan before Christmas and i love it. So versatile and great punch of colour for Winter.

  26. I think that qualifies as fuchsia. That's what I'd call it at least. And it is a great color cardi!

  27. I LOOOVE this outfit! It's exactly my style. And props to you for wearing something that you love regardless of whether it's on trend (although, lucky you- this is very much on trend!). That shows true style, in my opinion.

  28. Picmonkey.com is an excellent website for that. It's totally free and you don't need to register to use it. On the site, you can edit photos and add text and graphics to an image or create a collage. For the collage pictures + a title, just insert a picture into your collage after making it and remove it by pressing the little 'x.' Then you'll be left with a blank square. If you hit the edit button at the top, it'll bring you to the editting mode where you can then add text for your title. It's very easy to use and I'm sure you could find more in depth tutorials on how to use it if this in confusing. Hope it helped!

  29. Did you end up buying one? I have the Target one in burgundy and I love it! I really like that one from Kohl's but I can't find it online so I think it must be sold out. Did you ever go check it out in-store?

  30. No, still haven't gotten one! I've been looking, but temps also shot up to to the 70s here over the last couple of weeks, so thicker cardigans haven't seemed wise to buy at the moment. And I couldn't find that one at my Kohl's :(

  31. Thanks for your quick reply! If you think you might wear one next winter now might be a good time to buy as there are lots of winter sales on!

  35. I'm almost certain I have the same H+M dress, but I never made it look that good. Thanks for the styling tips. Adding a nice belt def makes it look more expensive and put together instantly!
