Hair and Blazers

Last week I asked for hair help on Instagram since I was 526 years overdue for a trim and my dead split ends were crying out for mercy.

Based on the feedback I went for #2, against the advice of my hairstylist.  Option 2 is a pretty minor change from my original cut, but she told me with the way my hair falls my original cut would still be better.  It was such a minor change that I tried #2 anyway, just to see.   I've gotta admit...my hairstylist was right.  No amount of heat or product for texture has gotten my hair NOT to want to fall at an angle, and given that, the sharper modified a-line angle looks cleaner.  Not a big deal though.  It's such a subtle difference that many of you probably can't even tell, and it won't be hard to shape it back in the near future.

This is another outfit from last week's interviews.  Yes, with colored jeans.  No joke, completely acceptable for my job, especially with a blazer.  A blazer will fool a lot of people into thinking you're more professional looking than you are, lemme tell ya.  So if you ever need to look a little more polished and you have yet to get a blazer, get on that, stat!

  1. You are spot on about the blazer. I bought my first blazer about a month ago, after reading your blog. I wear dresses and cardigans already, 95% of the time, so it wasn't a huge difference, but I had a ton of people asking me if I was going on a job interview the day I wore it to work. I had worn that same outfit and dress before, with a cardigan and no one said anything, but put a blazer on, and it's Professional City! :)

  4. Great hair cut. I love blazers. You can never have too many. I think it's great even if you're not going to an interview. Just for every day :)

  10. I have that exact same colour jeans! Mine are a bit too loose fitting around the ankles though so I need to try alter them.

  11. I am still on the fence about my blazer. I have #4 in grey. I am a stay at home wife in a very casual town. People wear jeans to weddings and funerals. :) I need help making it look right with bootcut jeans...

  14. I love how your hair looks here! I've been trying to get a longer, blunter bob perfected but haven't quite gotten there yet... Love this ensemble for semi-casual interviewer too - the blazer & accessories are so polished, but branching out from the most basic blazer/pants colors makes it so approachable and shows some personality too. You look fab!

  20. I couldn't make out the difference between your previous hairstyle and the present one!
I wish I my workplace allowed us to wear coloured pants! Although I do wear them on Saturdays (smart casuals dress-code)!

  23. You're so sweet, Sydney! I don't think I get hits from it through Feedly or any other reader, which is not a big deal. I get compensated whenever a shopping link is clicked, no matter if it's from the site or from a reader. The TMI version is here: http://www.puttingmetogether.com/p/disclosure.html:) And thank you for your prayers for my family!

  25. I LOVE that maroon blazer! Too bad I'm trying hard to not spend money right now...AND since I'm pretty busty, I'm not sure that style would work on me :( Can't wait to see your new things!

  26. I finally got around to washing and wearing so I thought I'd reply. The shirts both shrank up quite a bit and wrinkled terribly. I cannot keep them from wrinkling even after ironing, so they are going back. Did you have better luck?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mine aren't wrinkling, but they did shrink a little--not too bad though. I hand washed in cold and air dried. But I stuck with a size up to get the perfect fit--the way the smaller size fit pre-washing! Try returning them if you still have the tags, even if you washed them. I've done it before because I was so mad about a particular dress I got haha. I was glad they let me return it.
