Favorites of 2013: Striped Dress

I was trying to fill my closet with more basics last year, so I was on the hunt for a striped dress.  I got really lucky when my brother's fiancee showed up wearing this new (at the time) H&M dress.  I ran right over to H&M to snatch one up for myself.  If I remember correctly, it was only $13!

Obviously I need to work on switching up the shoe and belt colors in the future.  I usually wore this dress as my default when I didn't have time to think about what to wear.  Somehow that translated to tan and more tan.  I'll work on that!  This dress can pretty much go with anything, so this year I'll combine it with more color in my accessories.  And I didn't even get to blazers yet!

How would you style this dress?

  10. Thanks Audrey! Always looking for remixing ideas. My Christmas present was a striped wrap dress--scored a 50% off 3 days before Christmas. Also about to add this sleeveless stripe dress to my closet for more layering options http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=9197050020104&cid=1001227&locale=en_US and will be using Merrick's stripe dress tutorial for adding a horizontal stripe section at the bottom so it's long enough for me.

  12. OBVIOUSLY should be included in any favorites list! So cute and so versatile - especially love the idea of remixing it up with a white blouse underneath. I never wear mine anymore because it just doesn't seem like my current style, but this is a perfect way to work it in. Must remember for when I can layer again - as in no longer need frontal access ;-)

  16. I think you did pretty good with mixing it up! It almost creates a rainbow of accent colors. I have a super similar dress from Old Navy and love to pair it with a leopard belt (example here: http://styleontarget.com/2013/12/04/dare-to-bare ). Super cool rainbow look back!

  20. Thanks for responding so quickly, Audrey! I'm about the same size as you. I went to try it on at Target and found the Medium to fit better than the Small. But yes, you are right, runs short! It was on clearance at my local Target for around $11 (online price is $16.99). Great top, already received a compliment today!

  22. I already owned a lace tee that I got from Target. I wore it all the time and got so many compliments, I think because it's so girly. After seeing you style this tank so many different ways I went ahead and bought it.You were right, it does run a bit short, but it's perfect on me. I came back to this post for some outfit inspiration.
