Favorites of 2013: Maroon Pants Remix

I wrote this on my very full flight to St. Louis.  Despite the crazy storm and tons and tons of canceled flights, my travel went smoothly without a hitch.  Got lucky!

Last week, in light of 2014, I showed you my favorite purchases from the past year.  Since I'm traveling in St. Louis this week and was sick in pajamas all last week I have no outfit pics for ya.  Soooo, I thought I'd show you remixes of how I've worn my favorite purchases from 2013!

First up, my beloved maroon/burgundy skinny jeans.  I wanted a pair this color for a long time, and finally Ariel on Go Chic or Go Home saw it on my Wishlist board and tipped me off to a pair from Target.  They looked bright magenta online, but she assured me it was the color I was looking for.  Best part?  Sale for $9!  Thank God for the Go Chic or Go Home community, right?

I love maroon skinny jeans because I think they are a great entry into colored jeans territory.  They’re subtler and darker, unlike a bright red or bright yellow, which definitely scream, “I’M WEARING COLORED JEANS!!!”  I think maroon is classy too, so you can dress them down or look a little more professional when you need to.

It appears I mostly paired them with black, white, and other neutrals, but I did get a little more creative with the mustard cardigan.  That’s one of my favorite outfits!

Do you have a pair of maroon or burgundy pants?  Besides neutrals, what other colors could this be paired with?  I didn’t create an official link up, but feel free to link to your posts in the comments, whether they’re blog posts or on GCOGH.

  5. I pair my maroon cords with a peach sweater (it actually works!) but I also wear them mostly with neutrals. I think they'd work with cobalt or olive too though.

  8. I complete agree. I thrifted my maroon/burgundy cords and they are oh so versatile. Bright blue is incredibly chic too.

Here is my maroon look recently: http://styleontarget.com/2013/12/12/double-dot-day/

  14. I LOVE my burgundy skinny jeans. Mine are coated like yours seem to be too and I love it because it gives them a little more of an edge. But I've discovered that they can be paired with so many things, and I definitely dress them both up and down for all kinds of purposes!

  16. Love all the outfits, especially the ones with the moto jacket and the mustard cardigan!

It's a true stylista that can come up with new and creative ways to style pieces rather than just wear different outfits everyday like some bloggers (because that's realistic). Love it!

  17. My maroon pants were the first pair of coloured pants that I bought. Like you said, maroon is a great colour to start with cause it's subtler and darker, so the (fashion) risk is minimal I have paired my maroon pants with a lot of neutral as well as coloured tops. Just leaving the link incase you want to have a look http://clothesandcreativity.blogspot.in/search/label/maroon%20pants

  22. Welcome to STL! Our weather has been absolutely awful and I'm sure quite a change from sunny California. Nothing like -13 degrees to wake you up in the morning, right? ;) Hope you have a great visit and love the maroon pants!

  23. I ran out to scoop up that faux leather jacket this morning, thanks to your post. What a great piece! I can't wait to try it on and see how many ways I can style it!!!

  24. Yup, of course! If you're worried and want a way to tie it in better, incorporate black somewhere else in the outfit, like black jeans, a black top, or work in black statement jewelry. Or better yet, try something two-toned that incorporates both cognac and black, like a leopard print scarf or top. The top will pull the colors together.

  25. Thanks to share the info. I will surely try that out as I often face the proble when shopping online if 'you have a mustard cardigan?' The collage you created is very inspiring and offers great pairing ideas.

  26. The last line says "try ShopSense"...I'm guessing you meant ShopStyle. :)

  27. Yep, those maroon pants are fantastic! I have a pair of maroon ankle pants that I really love wearing, but I'd love a pair of skinnies like these to wear with flats all year round. I just love how maroon looks with black and white - I think my favorite two outfits in your collage are the last two on the right. They are perfect!!

  28. I finally took the time to poke around on ShopStyle a few weeks ago, and I can't believe what a timesaver it is! I'm not even really looking for anything specific right now, but sometimes I'll just go on there just to marvel at how amazing it is, ha!

  34. It`s been almost a year since someone commented,,,and i am curious, since you are such a big fan of shopstyle and using them,,,,did you get any money from them, do they pay? does it worth investing time using their program?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Serena! Are you referring to using ShopStyle to search for items, or using their affiliate branch ShopSense for commission? For searching for items with ShopStyle there is no earning involved--it's a search engine for clothes and a service to you for free to find pieces you're looking for. In regards to earning commission as a blogger through using ShopSense affiliate links, it is based on how many clicks you get from your affiliate links, which is based on how much traffic you have.

  36. sorry,,,Yes,,,i am curious about your experience with their affiliate program, PPC.. I am asking because I want to try it too. I also tried to find people who actually got paid by them. All the reviews are about how great their affiliate program is, but i couldnt find a single post about : "yes, i was paid, i just got my money in paypal account".
Oh,,and thanks for fast reply :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh! Yes, I receive payment from them. Have had no problems with that and have been using them for several years. You don't get paid until earning $100 in commission though.
