Head to Real Life

Do you ever have those outfits that you love in your head but wearing it in real life makes you think otherwise?  Sometimes it's that the pieces don't go as well together as you thought they could.  Sometimes the silhouette ends up not looking quite as you'd imagined.  Other times, like in this outfit's case, all looks fine--until you move around.  While I like this outfit in theory, wearing it quickly put it on the "non-repeater" list.  I was experimenting with using this stretchy long-sleeve tee as if were a sweater, but it was having some problems.  Namely it was too clingy, and even Bri and Fran's tip of wearing a cami between the two layers to smooth things out didn't work.  Plus, clinginess meant that it rode up above my hips all day and I had to pull down my shirt all the time.  Annoying!

Oh well.  You win some, you lose some.  Like I said, I still like the idea of the color and pattern together, so maybe I'll get a looser sweater and try again sometime!

  1. Too bad! I like the color combo, and those patterned pants are adorable on you! Maybe you should put a bright, thin cotton sweater on your Christmas list. =)

  6. I love how you're so real and courageous that you posts outfits that you don't like. You've inspired me to post tomorrow an ensemble that I created over the weekend that felt good in my head but fell flat in reality. :D

  9. i love your honesty. there are so many times i try to replicate an outfit that looks great on a blog and find it annoyingly uncomfortable and end up miserable all day. i didn't know if that was just me or if other people had that problem! i'm so glad i'm not the only one!

  10. Oh yeah I know what you mean. I've often put together an outfit that looks good in the mirror but is a pain in the butt all day long. Your outfit does look really cute though! Maybe with just a few small adjustments it could work out for you!

  11. Your hot pink top looks great with your pants and it does show your curves nicely. Perhaps a different white top underneath will help to smooth out the unwanted bumps and to prevent the riding up issue (the smoothness of your white shirt is causing it).

  18. The outfit is so cute! You can't tell from the pictures that you were uncomfortable. I know what you mean about sometimes things just don't work. My Thanksgiving outfit made me feel totally uncomfortable and I was constantly adjusting it! That's such an annoying feeling.

  21. I have that exact problem with any outfit involving a normal button-up shirt. They look so cute but thanks to boobs, are never comfortable. I DID buy 2 button-ups from Target made of some soft stretchy material, so they aren't as structured as a normal button up and don't really pull at the boobs or the shoulders which helps. But seriously, I've had to give up on the idea of the button-up underneath a sweater; it has never comfortably worked. And it looks soooo cute on everyone else.

  24. I've got a fitted v-neck sweater in that exact color and I'm totally going to try it with a white now! I'm not usually a fan of the printed pant, but it totally works for me here.

  25. Shame the layering didn't work when you were moving around, as it looks great in the photos! I like the pink against the blue printed pants :)

  31. That marvelous pink color absolutely SINGS on you!! If the shirt won't play along, you need to find a sweater in that color because it's fabulous with your complexion and killer with those pants.
