In the Details

This is a classic fall outfit formula for me, from last year's My Five Fall Go-To Outfits.  I rolled up the cuffs every so slightly to give the outfit some dimension.  It's a minuscule detail but, to me, makes a big difference!  Sometimes those little details make or break an outfit.

I'm pretty brain-fried right now.  We've had something to attend every night this week, including tonight, and I'm not complaining about it or stressed...just in a sleepy daze this morning.  Nothing that a nap, boba, or sugar can't fix.  Yum yum yum.  Once Saturday hits I'm FINALLY catching up on What Not to Wear's series finale.  Somehow when I started reading style blogs a couple of years ago my religious viewing of WNTW broke.  Maybe the fact that we got rid of cable around that time contributed.  I have literally seen every single episode up to the point I stopped watching, but I missed out completely on the last few seasons.  I feel pretty ready to catch up on all of them slowly but surely now, and I'm starting with the finale!  So so so so so so excited!  Don't spoil it!  :D

  1. I love a good plaid / flannel shirt. The two that I own are far too neutral and I really like those colors.

  5. My cardigan + button-down combos never look right- the cardigan always opens up too big and makes me look super wide. Whats your secret???? :)

  7. I watched WNTW religiously up until my senior year of college. Somehow I got out of the habit, and now I have, um, four years to catch up on!

  12. Have you tried your loft skinny jeans on with ankle boots yet? I have the same ones and when I put them with ankle boots they bunch up and do not look right. Do you have this problem with them? I don't know if I just need to try different ankle boots or find different jeans. Have you tried Loft's super skinny jean?d

  13. Oooh I love this as a go-to fall outfit! Plaid is pretty much my go-to in the fall!

Random question - did you buy the seasons of WNTW? I would love to catch up with it too and we don't have cable any more either. Just wondering if it was available online somewhere!

  14. I love WNTW and would love to watch it but, like Ashley, don't know how to catch up on it without buying it all - it's great, but not actually worth buying the seasons on DVD to me. How do you watch it?

I've been looking for a well-fitting plaid shirt . . . since fashion bloggers started wearing them, so I guess for at least two years! Haha. I'll be holding potential buys up to the standard of that lovely orange and blue number you've got there.

  16. I'm a huge fan of What Not To Wear as well, and usually watch it at the gym. It's such a great show, and I've learned SO MUCH from it! I'm hoping that TLC or some other network will play reruns of the show for a million years so I can keep watching! As for your outfit, I really like your chunky cardigan with the big buttons - too cute! While last year, I maybe wore a button up under a sweater/cardigan twice all winter, I'm ALL about it right now! It's such a fun way to, like you said, add a little dimension to an outfit!

  17. I'm pretty sure I just saw your shirt in my local Target yesterday. Ending up falling in love with an huge olive infinity scarf and a super warm burnt orange cardigan. I kept the cardigan out of fear I wouldn't find it again and am waiting for the scarf to go on sale for the holidays. Love this look on you. Can't wait to try it out for myself when it gets cold enough!

  18. I agree completely, it's the little details make or break an outfit! And the rolled-up sleeves with the shirt peeking from underneath add a great touch to the look. And your bag looks like a replica of mini-Celine! :)

  19. have you made sure the shoulders of your cardigan are sitting at the right spot? I find it takes a fair bit of wrestling to get everything sitting right, but then it stays all day.
