Skirted

Remember when I told you I received a dress that didn't fit very well and I had to hide the weird fit under a blazer...and how I chopped it off?  Welp, here it is.  I gave it an elastic waistband which my shirt is covering up, but since my sewing skills are like a kindergartener's it's probably better for us all that you don't take a close look.  But hey, at least it's functional now.  (Okay, it's not *that* bad, but the back waistband is not even.  You can see the front on my Go Chic or Go Home boards.)

On another note, I made a mistake last night and FINALLY visited Madewell.  I don't know when it made its way down to San Diego, but I hadn't noticed it before.  Big mistake, because now I want ALL THE THINGS there.  Must.  Stay.  Away.  Maybe I need a trip to Target to bring me back to reality hahaha.  ;)

  1. You inspired me to do this recently with one of my dresses. I have two of those Target dresses with the sleeveless ruffle top (I think you have one too). And one of them, I always wanted to wear a shirt over it to look like a shirt and skirt combo, but the ruffles created bumps under the shirt/sweater. So I thought, well, if I never want to wear it as the dress that it is, why not make it a skirt? So I chopped the top off right above the existing elastic high waistband. I still need to wear it with a shirt over it or with a wide belt covering my shoddy cutting skills, but it looks good, and now I actually wear it! Thanks!

  2. This is so cute :) I made a promise to myself today that when I start my big girl job next fall I will wear a skirt at least once a week! I love the way the look, I'm just a baby about being cold. But I'll put some cute tights on and suck it up cause you have proven to me once again that skirts are so lovely!

  5. Isn't Madewell dangerous! I stopped by the store in Soho last week and I had to hold myself back from buying ALL the plaid!

  16. You did a great job salvaging a piece of clothing that was not working for you! I am super impressed! My daughter and I are taking sewing classes and I am sort of addicted! I may have to chop of one of my dresses just so I can try this! Cute Audrey!! Susan
