Pop of Color

Today I heard some women talking about someone they knew who only ever wore white but always accessorized with colorful accessories.  That's a fantastic way to get dressed easily--let your clothes be all neutrals so that you don't have to think about whether that top goes with those pants, but add interest with colorful accessories.  So simple!

I showed two outfit options above, but each only uses one piece with color.  This outfit kind of got thrown together, and I ended up LOVING it, especially with the blue pumps!  They totally make the outfit for me.  But, if colorful shoes seems like too much of a commitment you can also stick to neutral shoes and add color with a bag instead.  Would you rather add color with your shoes or your bag?

  2. Every time I go to Target, I hold that bag and put it down. I really want it but I keep wanting the price to go down before justifying another bag purchase.

  3. Love the stripe blazer! BTW, what happened to your Blog Roll on the top navigation bar? Did you decide to do away with it? It's no longer there. I always enjoy checking them out after reading your blogs.

  4. that IS a great idea - don't know if I could give color on my clothes tho :/

  7. Love both options, but if I could I would go with the shoes! Unfortunately, certain shades can cause my feet to look extremely red due to the pink undertone in my skin. Loving those blue shoes, but for me they could go either way.

  8. Hey Sue! I moved the Blog Roll to the very very very bottom of the blog to make room for the Disclosure at the top (which used to only be at the bottom also). I'll need to do a blog redesign to add the Blog Love thing at the top again or switch out the links. But for now, if it's not at the top it's at the very bottom.

  9. I think I'd go for a coloured bag in case I'm wearing a neutral outfit. And if you ask me personally, I think bright scarves are a great way of adding a pop of colour to a neutral or dull outfit. Also, in the photos above, I think the bright blue shoes make the outfit look much more fun than the green bag (so shoes for pop of colour amongst the 2 photos above).

  10. I put together a capsule wardrobe for myself at one point, using clothing I already owned. My colours were nave, black and grey with accents of red. It was so easy getting dressed because I knew everything matched. I'm not sure why I don't do that any more. I used to chance the accent colour every season (again with things I already owned).

  11. They are nice outfits! I would go with a coloured bag for a pop of colour in outfits. Just because I'm a bag-a-holic :)

  12. Adding a pop of color through bright shoes is one of my favorite things! Sometimes I style an outfit just around my shoes!

  13. Not ready for color shoes yet, but I prefer that outfit. First, the shoes fit you so well, but second, if you put down your bag, your outfit is still sort of complete. You don't loose that color pop.

  14. I love the idea of wearing a colourful accessory with a neutral outfit. It really pops! You could use a scarf instead of a pair of shoes or a purse. It is inexpensive way to make your outfit look fresh and lively.

  16. I love the Sheinside jacket! Do you find that their blazers run pretty true to size? Do you mind telling me what size you're in? I feel like I would be in a similar size. Thanks! :)

  17. I love this outfit, but I'd use both the green clutch and the blue shoes!

  18. Shoes! Or shoes and bag. I never really think about the bag as a part of the outfit, so if it adds something, great, but if not I'm not worried about it.

  19. They are almost true to size, but usually a tiny bit smaller. I'm wearing size small, but I could maybe have gone for a medium.

  20. I always add colour with bags! I have quite a collection of bright bags now :)

Bright shoes I find trickier for some reason!

  21. My fall clothes and shoes are fairly neutral colored, but I have lots of scarves. :) They are my main accent.
