The Good Ole Days

Ain't no secret that I love my cognac moto jacket, so it was only a matter of time until I attained a black one.  I haven't worn a lot of black since I started blogging, but I'm coming back around to it.  (I used to wear mostly black pre-blog.)  I've gotta say that a black leather jacket in particular takes me back to my high school gangsta days.  All I need is dark brown lipstick and a hardcore glaring mug to be complete.  No joke.  I was *that* girl and I have pictures to prove it.  Always a death glare and hardly a smile.   Ah yes, the good ole days.

Anyone else got shame stories from high school?  What were you like back then?

  1. OMG I so totally cannot picture you as a "gangsta"! You may have to share one of those photos. ;-)

I was such a goody-goody in high school. The thing is, if I ever did anything remotely naughty, I got caught. So I just didn't try. I was just a good girl. I tried to dress trendy but mostly had just a pretty normal, average style. One of my signature things was those little butterfly hair clips. Remember those?!?! My hair was really long back then and I was super creative with my collection of butterflies!

  3. Too funny, I am actually having a hard time picturing you as that girl! Everyone in my school just thought I raided my grandmother's closet every day, I wore turtlenecks just about every day (even in summer, they were the sleeveless version).

  4. oh High school. I was on the track team and didn't care about clothes-to the point where I wore pj pants, sweatshirts, and hats to school. That ended when I was mistaken for a boy by someones parent in front of my mom. I soo want to see a pic of you now!!

  6. So for some reason I haven't worn a lot of black in the past few years either... not sure why. But I'm starting to bring it back too, starting especially with shoes. Duh, black shoes are really versatile, but I have no good ones in my closet, so it's time. LOVE this jacket/stripe combo. And the graphic punch of black & white - that's enough to make a girl want to start wearing a little black again!

  7. i never wear black anymore. i wore enough in high school and the few years after. i was the rebellious kid that had the ever changing hair color, with piercings and tattoos. black is not a good color on me and reminds me of how horrible i dressed.

  8. I can not imagine you not being a smiley person! I'd love to see that. I used to be a hardcore punk rocker, with the two toned hair colour. Ah the days of our youth!

  9. I was a PUNK in high school, haha. Short, spiky hair, band tees, men's work pants, the whole things. Crazy. Black is okay though! And I love the new jacket.

  10. Please post these pictures! I want to see you mean muggin and gangsta! I was a preppy in high school, all collared shirts and skirts and such. I like this jacket, it takes the striped dress from summer to stunner.

  17. I've been eyeing a moto jacket for a while now. Yours is so cute! As for my high school experience, I had numerous times where I would walk by a cute boy and somehow I would trip and fall on my face or I would drop something in front of him. So. Embarrassing. It only made it worse that said boy would usually laugh at me. I guess that means I was attracted to jerks back then?!

  18. I bought a moto style jacket from Zellers years ago. It's fake leather and cost 27$. And I get Soooo many compliments on it. I hate giving it up.

  25. It was SO hard to leave behind several of my moto jackets when packing for moving to Seoul. This is killing me just a little inside, Audrey. However, this outfit is perfect! I'd swap out the shoes for an edgier boot (because you know me) and prance around in it for days. (:

  26. Love the jacket! I was going through my skater girl/indie rock phase during high school, so I wore lots of Dickies pants, band t-shirts, rubber bracelets and ball chain necklaces. And I tried to have a pixie cut, but my hair is too curly. Definitely going for that Avril Lavigne look. So glad I outgrew that...(but I still love my band t-shirts sometimes)

  27. In high school I rarely bothered to wear makeup. To the point where in my Junior year when I wore mascara one day I got SO many compliments on how nice I looked (along the "did you do something different? you look really pretty today" or "i don't know what it is, but you look great" lines) that I realized my twin sister was right and I needed to wear it everyday like she did. Darn her.
I could probably leave it unsaid, but I was obvs a late bloomer. ^_^

  28. LOVE this outfit! I finally ordered myself a stripey dress, and I don't have a black leather jacket...but I might need to make that addition! Sometimes I feel like I'm not that far out of high school...and my style has stayed pretty much the same! Though I was much more diligent about styling my hair then. Miss those days!

  29. I would definitely have to see a picture to believe that your cute, dimply face could ever be contorted into the face of the girl you described. haha

    Nice jacket!

  30. Black is a very flattering color on you! I love the moto jacket style with the side zipper. I've been trying to find a cognac one since seeing yours but have a hard time finding one without the middle zipper!

This is one of my favorite outfits of yours. Especially with that white necklace.

  31. hahahaha I've seen proof of the dark brown lipstick and death glare ;)

And OMG i'm in love with this jacket! How is the quality/sizing?

  32. Haha, I really want to see photographic evidence of angsty high school Audrey... When I was in high school, I dressed in no particular style. My closet was SO disjointed! I had some "trendy" Abercrombie and Fitch tops, some frilly skirts, lots of sweatshirts, flared jeans, and polos. I also wore a lot of plain tees from clubs or organizations I was in at my high school. So glamorous...NOT.

  35. What a darling outfit! Darling, yet edgy at the same time. I am fully on board the moto jacket-train; found myself a gorgeous one just the other day. I can't wait to rock it (with cute dresses like this)!
