Neutral Basics

I can't remember where I saw it--Pinterest, Go Chic or Go Home or what not--but it was an outfit of all neutral basics with tan accessories.  I LOVED IT.  I immediately went to my GCOGH ensembles creator and recreated the outfit to wear later.  And here we are.  Ta-da!

Can someone tell me why neutral outfits with basics are the hardest for me to think of?  You would think they'd be no-brainers because duh, put your neutrals together since they go with everything.  But no, I NEVER think of that.  Whenever I see an all neutral outfit done well my mind is blown.  BLOWN, I say.  For some reason I'm always making things more complicated than I need to, and who has time for that?  Ooooh, yes, take that and apply it as a metaphor for life.  You're welcome.  So, here's to delighting in the simple things!

  1. My outfits were all neutrals for too long!! Now I try really hard to not have that happen. At the very least I try to make my accessories colorful!

  2. Oh, I love your scarf! I like your nude accessories as well, those flats are perfection. I am the worst at accessorizing and always have to remind myself to do it, but I'm learning!

Such a cute look. A fun way to add a pop to a typical outfit.

  4. I love the bag. I never think to pair my basics together because it's so....basic. Something can definitely be said for simplicity.

  5. I agree that sometimes wearing all neutral seems harder than adding color. Speaking of which, I wore an all navy and brown outfit today and am still not sure how I felt about it...

I think by adding the infinity scarf in the blues it adds a great layer of interest to a neutral outfit :)

  7. Haha! No suggestions on the black one yet--I was also planning on maybe getting the black Target one over the cognac but cognac won. NOW I'm trying to resist the urge to have the same bag in both black and cognac! Haha

  8. I feel the same about neutral outfits - easy but not really. It's hard to make them look interesting. The infinity scarf looks great. I like that it's striped too.

  12. How are you liking the bag? I recently bought the same one, but haven't started using it yet Technically my husband bought it for me for my upcoming birthday, so I've set it aside until then. I had had my eye on it, and when I saw it on sale, I texted him and asked, "Do you want to buy me a purse for my birthday?" I'm not the only one who does that, right?

  15. And you've just answered my question -- looks like it is a-okay to wear a scarf with a lower neck line (like a v-neck or scoop neck). Phew! I'm not as much of a fashion dork as I thought!

  17. I did seriously consider buying it in both colors too! Let's see who breaks first!

  18. Well...I already broke because I bought both of them at the same time. The black one is sitting on my floor also waiting to be decided upon hahaha.
