Stepping Out

Whoa, whoa, whoa, pics outside!  We've been thinking about getting a DSLR for a loooooong time but I've basically been indecisive about a lot of things.  Our friends were kind enough to let us borrow their Nikon to experiment.  Considering how clumsy I am, that was brave of them.  (Shh, don't tell them that though.)

This look is more of a spring look, but in San Diego it's basically perpetually spring.  Let's not fool ourselves into thinking seasons actually change here.  Anyway, I've had a white blazer on my wish list for a very, very, veryyyyy long time, so I decided to try one out courtesy of Chicnova, which by the way, is another one of those stores with free international shipping.  I think I may have ordered it slightly big, but B says he can't tell.  Soooo yeah, not sure what I'm going to do about that yet or if I need to do anything at all.  Besides that, I think if this fit me correctly I would be head over heels in love with it!  The material is thick but not stiff, and it comes lined.  I can't wait to pair this with grey and black for a chic look in the fall!  Or rather, spring-fall.  Let's be honest here.

Very pretty look! I have a white blazer and I always feel like i am wearing a lab coat. It's all about the fit. If it doesn't feel right, have it tailored to make it just for you.

Great photos! I bite the bullet and bought a Nikon (a base level model from Costco) and love it. I have not explored any of the manual settings but it's very easy to use. Of course, I went from an iphone to DSLR so it was a world of difference.

you should go for the camera--I could IMMEDIATELY tell a difference in the quality! I even wondered, before you said anything about a borrowed camera, if you'd upgraded. Definitely gives a polished look to the page.
Also--yeah the blazer looks a skosh big.

  10. This is a fantastic outfit! I need to get something like this, but I'm in the coldest part of Utah and I feel I am forced to wear certain un-attractive warmer clothes for half the year, but I'm working on changing up my closet and wardrobe. Thanks for all the inspiration!!

  11. Love this blazer! I've been looking for a good white blazer all summer, but nothing yet! I think I'm too picky about how clothes fit.

  14. I agree with the others- a bit big. I couldn't tell much except in the close up pic. Then it is fairly obvious.

  15. Nice change of scenery! I didn't think about the blazer's size until you mentioned it, and even still I think it works styled with slim-fitting jeans. With "boyfriend" everything, loose can be cute.

  16. i have been debating a dslr too. i think i may have to break down eventually and buy one.

  17. I'm impressed that the pictures turned out so nicely with such a strong back-light. Good job! I do think the blazer is a tiny bit big, but I still really like the outfit. :-)

  18. Blazers are so tough to buy! Especially online. They all fit a little bit differently. The boyfriend blazer look is in, though, so having it be a bit big isn't too bad :-)

  22. YOU MUST GET A DSLR. First of all, these pictures are GORGEOUS because well, you are in them, but they are already so nicely composed and all that snazzy photography stuff I don't know. It still puts the emphasis on the clothes but looks natural :)

  23. Jackets are easy to tailor! :-) Just hit up a good seamstress and they can tweak it a bit to make it fit you perfectly.

  24. Love this look! That jacket looks great on you!

  25. Love the outdoor pics! I have yet to find a blazer that fits well and I truly love....so thanks for the suggestions!

  26. AH, THE SUN! I just got a white blazer from LuLu's and styling it with a floral top would be perfect.

  28. You are so cute, Audrey! I love those jeans every time you wear them, and that top looks great with the white blazer! I'd love to spend money on a camera as well, but right now, I need to be selective about what I'm spending my money on (two of us in grad school means we don't have much money...), so my iPhone is getting lots of love right now. Some day, I'll bite the bullet and get a DSLR :)

  29. I've had a white blazer on my fashion wish list for a while now too. Love this one on you!

  30. You finally got your white blazer!! Isn't it such a great feeling to get something you've had your eye on for a long time? I love the outdoor pictures by the way. Makes that blazer look so bright!

  31. I didn't even notice that the jacket is a little big until you pointed it out! I think if it really bothers you, a seamstress should be able to hook you up, but really I think you're fine as is! It's a casual-chic look!

    (PS-go for the DSLR!)

  32. Such a nice blazer, and I really like the printed top with it :) Nice to see outdoor photos too, you've taken lovely shots :)

  33. Ooooh outside pictures! and I'm glad that the chicnova blazer worked out even though it's too big (what size did you order?) I'm still waiting on mine! I ordered it on the 7th but it's STILL NOT HERE YET. I guess it's only been like two weeks but I'm so impatient. I ordered the teal one instead of the white and super excited and hope that it fits!

  36. I love the camera of course! We were definitely sold on a new camera, just trying to figure out which one and what we need. The one we're borrowing is way out of our price range though--the person we borrowed from is a wedding photographer haha.

  37. I like the blazer. It is so hard to tell if it is too big. I just bought a black one (who doesn't own a black one??) and I also cant tell if it is too big, or if that is the way it should be. It is my first boyfriend cut blazer, the rest are all a bit tailored. So not sure if I'm just used to that look, or if it is too big.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So chic! It doesn't look to big from here, but if you feel like it is, you'll probably always feel that way and won't wear it as often. At least that's what I've found. Can't wait to see more of your white blazer looks!
