Second Day Hair

This is the first time in YEARS that I've gone an entire day without washing my hair.  It's pretty awesome--and pretty dang handy.  Believe it or not, that was one of the motivations for me wanting to grow out my hair haha.

Anyway, this is what I wore on July 4th.  The last outfit I showed with these pants was about business casual wear so I'd been wanting to style these in a casual look.  I think I saw a look on Pinterest or some clothing ad with printed pants, a white tee and sandals.  DUH, white tee.  Too simple for me to think of it myself.  Funny how that works, huh?

  1. I used to wash my hair everyday- what a pain! I have heard how unhealthy it is. Now I can go about three days if I use dry shampoo on the third day, hats and a ponytail help too. I'm growing mine out as well, ours is about the same length. I just saw on Pinterest how to wash your hair with baking soda and vinegar, you can really space out your washings with that method. I think I'm going to give it a whirl!

  6. i used to wash my hair everyday too. this year i started going every other day, and recently i can go up to 2 days. i found the key was a good dry shampoo (i use the batiste brand for dark hair), all natural shampoo & conditioner, and limited products. the only product i use is a little argan oil and hairspray if needed. the products have made a huge difference in my hair, and not to mention i get back 15 mins of my morning washing/styling!

I usually go two/three days without washing my hair but then again I have very thick curly hair so it never gets oily or anything. love those pants! xo

  9. Putting your hair up looks great, even not washed. That's the benefit of having long hair. I can go up to about 4 days without washing my hair but I do wet my hair quickly for styling purposes.

  10. Love! I wish I could go a day without washing my hair! Yours looks so cute and textured, mine is so fine and thin it just turns into a grease bomb! I love the pants too. Cute! Are you going to do the July 7x7 remix challenge?

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's only textured because I curled it a little! Otherwise mine feels like a grease bomb too haha. And no, I'm not doing the 7x7 this month. I'm just catching up with life again and trying to shape things up around the here as well (all the stuff I mentioned in the Survey Recap post). I didn't think I could handle putting together another 7x7 this month. Have fun though!

  12. Love the pants with the denim jacket - perfect mix. And grown-out hair has summer tradeoffs, I've decided. It takes longer to blow dry, which is definitely not good in the heat, but this second-day hair thing is SO handy. I admit I've been on an every-other-day plan for a couple weeks now...

  13. I love pants #4 and they are on sale for $17.99! I have to return something to JC Penney, so do I wait to buy after return or buy and then return? I know what hubby would say....I know what I want to do. :D

  15. Just found your blog and wanted to say hi. I think this outfit is great - definitely my style! And I have the same issue; sometimes the easiest most carefree outfits are the hardest to conceptualize ahead of time!

  16. Your blog is awesome! I was sad when the folks on Academichic quit but got really happy when I found you. Your site is another great resource for those of us who have to repeat items of clothing (aka normal people).

I am also from California but I live in the Chicago suburbs now. There are plenty of stylish folks here but also plenty who are free from any sort of slavery to fashion. I have an irrational fear of becoming one of the latter so it's comforting to check in on another California girl.

About the second day hair: I love baby shampoo or baby wash. I wash my hair with it every day. Since it is such a mild detergent I don't get rebound greasiness and can usually skip a day without much trouble. You can get original or the fancy ones with lavender, vanilla and shea, apple, etc.

I also use it as my twice-daily face wash. And sometimes I wash my cat with it. And I have converted my husband, who is concerned about getting shampoo in his eyes. The stuff is wondrous.

  19. Your outfit (and hair!) look great. I love the printed pant trend. I am so guilty of second day hair at least a few times a week. Long hair is pretty time consuming to blowdry and style. Baby powder is my saving grace and I find it gives a lot of volume if you want to tease your hair.

  20. Audrey, Dry Shampoo. It will change your life. I washed and dried my hair every day of my life from 15 to 32 years old when I discovered it. There are some terrible ones out there though. Google the reviews, then buy some and use your hairdryer as a door stop. The best brand is made by Rene Furterer which I buy on Amazon. The second best I found is called Battiste. The one that Garnier makes is acceptable. But, They. All. Will. Change. Your. Life.

  21. Second day hair is the primary reason I grew my pixie cut out. I missed the ease of throwing my sort-of-but-not-quite-dirty hair into a bun and it even Stays better with a little prior wear.

  22. I've been on the look out for a great pair of patterned pants. They are tricky to find. What looks good on the rack doesn't always flatter;)

  23. Wow, I almost didn't recognize you with your hair up! Congrats on going a day without washing! My poor hair would not be happy with me if I washed it everyday. Those pants look so good on you by the way. Great choice!

  24. You can't be serious. Wow. I can't remember the last time I washed my hair two days in a row! Love the outfit :)

  25. Those pants are awesome! And I'm with you, I have oily hair so I wash it every day. But so many people have said that I should try to push to every other day so that it gets less oily. I try to skip days but I hate it being so flat and oily and I have to wash my hair after I work out. So, meh. Daily washing for me.

  26. Your hair looks so cute! If you want to try dry shampoo, Suave Keratin is inexpensive (less than $3 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/beauty/dp/B005UBN2AO) and they also have it at Target! Just spray on the roots, massage in a bit, and then brush your hair - its easy peasy! Works wonders on my thick black Asian locks.

  36. It is also important for an automobile accident lawyer or a individual injury lawyer to be quite thorough in their investigation of the predicament.
Since personal injury are broadly categorized into various types, you should know which attorney
you should hire to represent your case in a lawsuit.
s negligence, the lawyer will file a lawsuit against the individual.
