Dots and Neon

Neon?  I don't wear a lot of it, but I can handle it in small doses.  A bag (yet to be attained), a belt, or maybe a pair of shoes (someday).  But of course, that's how I started with leopard print and then not only did I have shoes and a belt, but I broke out into three leopard scarves, a top, and a desire for leopard print dresses.  Just saying this could be a slippery slope.  How do you feel about neon?  Are you into it?

(Below, skirts one and two are Forever 21.  Number 1 is very similar to mine.  Number 3 just went on sale for ~50% off!)

  1. The belt looks so good with your outfit! What a great way to try a trend!

  2. I like it as you've mentioned, in small doses. Like with accessories or just accents in a top. I love this look, I might have to copy!

  3. I can take it a little bit at a time. Accessories and shoes are probably my key pieces for it. You pulled this look off really well!

you did a great job of doing neon in a small dose! im the same way -- I like only small pops of it as opposed to the whole outfit! xo

  5. I obtained a neon belt that came with a blue lace dress. Tossed it aside, I mean come on it was NEON. Lately I've been grabbing it a lot to bring an outfit together and just yesterday proclaimed to my Mom that I need neon yellow heels too. It's definitely a trend that grows on you.

  6. I agree accents are the way to go unless you have a deep complexion that can hold its own against crazy colors. I take on the cast of any neon worn near my skin--not a nice look. And regarding this trend, the neon sneakers are driving me crazy but the neon pumps, for some reason, have an allure. Maybe because they're so weird: normal outfit...highlighter shoes!

  7. Neon's not my thing. Too bright. I prefer deeper colors. But love this outfit. :-)

  11. I was about to say the same thing-- I wear neon like I wear animal print. That is, in small doses! I am all about neon for workout clothes though--does that count?

  12. I'm not into it, maybe very small pieces. However, my little sister is. She's attracted to anything neon like a moth to light.

Cute! A very similar idea to what was proposed on Style Me Up today!

  15. Cute! I do not look good in neon. It's the opposite of my complexion, which is soft and muted. Neon overwhelms me. :) In the complexion kind of way. I'm not scared of it :)

  16. Polka dots are striking against any bright solid and your pairing with that shade of green was amazing! I'm personally not a fan of neon for myself as it doesn't mix well with my personal style.

It's particularly beautiful as a pop i an all-white outfit or with denim. But my favorite neon usage would have to be bright orange or fuschia mani-pedis as an accent on an ptherwise neutral look

  18. Cute look. I think the pop of neon in the belt is the perfect touch.

I still remember the 80s too well to fully embrace neon. Like you, I enjoy it on other people, and I can handle it in small doses myself. Incidentally I recently bought my son 5-6 neon-colored shirts, and he loves them. He calls them his "beach shirts!"

  19. I'm not really into the whole neon trend but I do have a neon yellow belt and necklace that I love, especially against black. Baby steps.

I like neon in small doses. Neon is tough to wear to work and I feel a bit too old to be wearing neon.

  22. You're right. Start small with the trends, but once you get you're confidence up, it IS a slippery slope!!

  23. Yeah, not feeling it. That' s just my opinion.

  24. I am with you - I like it in smaller doses, like this adorable belt! I didn't own any neon until this past weekend... Gap was having a huge sale and a bought a bright pink cardigan and tee. Kinda nervous to wear them but they're fun! :)
