Buzzbuzz

Yellow and black stripes?  My mom would probably tell me that I look like a bumblebee.  But guess what--my mom's not here, so too bad!  Speaking of bees, I have had strange experiences being stung.  The first time I was ever stung I happened to sit on a bee that was half alive on the edge of a pool.  Boo.

I was walking on a trail with my guitar strapped to my back when a bee got caught between the back of my neck and my wall of very thick and very long hair (it was past my waist at the time).  It buzzed loudly and frantically right behind my ear as it scrambled to find its way out.  I tried to reach around to get to lift up my hair to let it loose, but since my guitar was kind of in the way and it was all tangled in my hair I tried the lazy way and just shook my hair to try to get the bee out.  Bad idea.  The bee got more agitated, so I panicked in return and shook my hair more which only made the bee buzz more franticly and eventually it stung the back of my neck.  My adrenaline was pumping on all cylinders and chaos ensued.  I wanted that bee OFF of me but it was tangled in my hair and I was freaking out with no logical thought left!  So I did what anyone would do:  I broke into a cross between Maniac and Killer Bees from Mexico from Tommy Boy.  I looked like a champ, I tell ya.

  1. I always worry about looking like that, too! But yellow and black and white stripes look nice together! I love your dress, the detail by the neck is really pretty!

  3. I FINALLY got myself a black and white striped dress, and I will definitely "BEE" copying this look. I have actually never been stung by a bee (knock on wood), but in fifth grade for picture day I wore a yellow black and white combo and ever sinnce then my stepfather has called me "Killer Bee". I feel your pain!

  5. Oh my goodness, that would be horrifying. I got a bee caught in my shirt once (not sure how that happened), same situation, agitated bee and freak-out Kim, and I got stung in the armpit. Worst day ever haha.

In other news, this is adorable. And I didn't think "bee" at all, until you started talking about actual bees, that is. ;)

  6. Bees! That would be exactly what I would think when I see the 3 colors together. Your outfit looks great. And your bee stings sounded terrible.

  12. I love this outfit! I am a big fan of black and yellow on other people, but I've always been to scared to wear yellow myself. Maybe I'll try it out with some fun yellow accessories :)

  13. Great outfit I love it with the yellow cardi. I have received sooo many emails of blk & white + yellow, I might actually give it a try. Why did you leave out the black belt that comes with the dress? Was it poor quality?

  14. It was a ribbon, and I don't usually like those kinds of things. Plus I prefer brown over black these days.

  19. I'm trying to figure out your secret of looking so polished while wearing a cardigan. I don't know what it is about me, but the second I put on a cardigan, it immediately gets all bunch on the sleeves, lop-sided in the shoulders and just looks messy. What do you look for in a cardigan to make it look like like it got into a fight with my shoulders and more like... well, what you look like in a cardigan? :)

I feel the same way whenever I wear black with yellow too. I have never been stung by a bee and will probably freak out when I do.

  25. I've only been stung by a bee once during a really stupid kid moment. I don't even know what I was doing or thinking but I was rolling around on the grass in our front yard, just to be silly I guess. Anyway, it flew into my pant leg and stung me when I rolled on it! I didn't even realize what was going on, only that my leg really hurt. Then I found the bee in my pants and frantically shook it out. Stupid kid days...

Your outfit is really cute! I LOVE black and yellow together and have worn it several times. I have a mustard cardigan but would love a pale yellow like yours!
