Olive Shorts for the Win

These shorts are the newest addition to my closet from Old Navy, and I'm pretty sure they're my new summer staple.  Olive is a pseudo-neutral which means it goes with nearly any color.  I also like that I can dress it up a little with a nice blouse like today's outfit, or I can wear it hiking and to the park...aka where there is dirt...because it's a darker color.  Also, I have a hard time finding shorts that are genuinely comfortable (besides pajamas) and these are it for me.  Yeah-yuh!

Here's your random tip of the day: If you are shopping in-store at Old Navy make sure you check the website for any discounts that apply to either online or in-store.  I noticed on Old Navy's site that there was a 30% off code that could be used in-store but when I asked the cashiers they knew nothing about it.  They started looking at their newspaper ads and even sent someone to the back to do research, but I just pulled up the site and code from my phone, they tried it, and I scored the discount!

  3. Great coupon tip. You definitely pull off the olive but when I try them on I can only see my mom's goofy, olive, cargo shorts...and then I run away.

  5. Thanks for the coupon code tip! I only wish I had a fancy phone, but I guess I could print off a screen shot? I love the way you paired a light feminine blouse with a more sporty-looking pair of shorts. I considered getting those, but settled for the fifth option you presented. Now I may have to reconsider...

  6. You look so cute! I actually have a pair of olive shorts on my "summer wish list" but I almost never wear shorts so I haven't been able to pull the trigger :(

I feel like Old Navy is the BEST place when it comes to discounts. I can't tell you how many times I have brought something to the cash register to check out and then I find out that it is much cheaper than I even thought. I can't say that's ever happened anywhere else!

  8. This color is always a winner, I think. Goes with so much, and can be fun or sophisticated or neutral just based on what colors you pair it with! Cute with the blouse you selected, of course.

LOVE! I need to get me a pair of those shorts. On another note, could you do a posting on your striped blazer? I want to take it on a trip with me, but I am having a hard time figuring out outfits... sorry... I am trying to get inspiration from you.

  14. Oh yeah! I am always looking for coupons to pair with sales at stores. The best is when you forgot to check for a coupon before you left but then you pull up a coupon on your phone while you are already in the checkout line. Bam! Ninja savings!

  15. Sorry, much too hot over here to be wearing a blazer. And I don't have time to put together a post like that right now. If you're on Go Chic or Go Home (link on the blog's sidebar on the right) you can look up my closet, click on my striped blazer and see all the ensembles I've created with it though. Good luck!

  19. I purchased these same shorts from Old Navy last month. I love them and have already worn them with a black and white polka dot blouse, a white blouse, a striped tee, a yellow flowy top and a floral tank. I plan to also pair them with a coral baggy tee and a white tee and cute scarf. You can do so much with these!

The other thing I love about them is that they are the modest 5 inch length. I am quite uncomfortable in short shorts so these are awesome! My only complaint about Old Navy is that there were some other printed shorts there that I liked, but all of the really cute colors and prints only came in the 3 inch length so, I just got black, white, tan and green. I was trying to take your advice and buy bright colored bottoms so I ended up purchasing some awesome ankle length pants from target in coral, mint and bright blue. I can't wait to mix and match these.

Thanks so much for your blog.

  21. I absolutely love olive bottoms! I have a pair of olive cargo pants that I adore (although they're slightly too snug for me right now - I'm hoping that with a little hard work, I'll be able to get back into them), and I would love a pair of olive shorts!
