An Honest Thank You

Can I just tell you that I'm so grateful for all of you?  I know how much time it takes to comment on blogs and I seriously appreciate it every time any of you takes the time to say a quick encouraging thing.  And I'll be honest, I needed them badly yesterday.  I discovered some people on another site basically saying my style is not chic enough and rather dowdy, like in a kind of emphatic and unnecessary way, as if I had offended them with my style or something.  And whether or not it's true (because those are opinions that are relative) and though it comes with the territory, it still hurts to see it.  On good days I can shake it off easily because I know that I'm not trying to be super chic.  I just want to look put together in a normal way.  But when you have a style blog people's expectations get different and they are quicker to judge you for not looking like you belong in a magazine.  On days when it's harder for me to shake it off (read: hormonal days) I go back to your guys' emails and comments and things you wrote on that survey to help me continue being me and to keep putting myself out there.  And one of the best things you can do for a person is to help them feel good about themselves, so thank you guys, really.  Really really.

This outfit will probably not help those people's opinions about my style not being chic enough, but I wore it and I was comfortable.  So whatever.  :)

  1. I love your style girl! It's always fashionable, real-life, and doable for all of us out there that want to look cute. Thanks for putting up with the criticism (blech!) and continuing to make a wonderful site that I look forward to every single day!

    You rock!

  2. Oh, sweetie, I would LOVE to be chic as you are.... Disregard the naysayers. They are unhappy people.

  3. you're gorgeous, dress perfectly, and are real! keep doing it. there's nothing dowdy about your style.

  4. No, thank you! A friend recently complimented me on my style and my ability to "put things together". I told her that I owed it all to you and your blog- you have taught me so much about layering pieces and accessorizing. You are practical and an inspiration to put a little more effort in for a great result! Keep it up!

  5. The reason I follow your style blog as opposed to others is because I would actually wear most of the outfits you create. High fashion is just not my gig as a stay-at-home mother of 2. I like that your style is modest and totally translates into the real world without looking sort of out of place :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. You are one of a couple of style blogs I subscribe to...mostly because your style is something I could/would actually wear. Why people feel OK being snarky is beyond me.

  7. It saddens me to think that anyone would speak ill of you or your style; the whole point of having a style is that it's subjective and relevant to each individual's life and personality. I really appreciate that you post casual and work appropriate outfits that are inspiring and easy to put together with staples that every girl has in her closet. Your style is much more approachable than many style blogs which pander to retailers to get free clothes, or are so edgy and right off the runway that they don't connect with me and are usually completely unaffordable. Not to mention you take the time to not only post where you bought your items, but where I can get similar ones, in different price ranges. Haters to the left, Audrey; I think you're amazing. :)

  8. I love these skirts! And I love your style--ignore the haters!

  9. I have found your blog enormously helpful, as I'm sure many, many others have too. Yours is the only style blog I pay any real attention to because you are put together and stylish but also dress in a way that is realistic for most "normal" ladies. Blogs that routinely feature super tight/uncomfortable/expensive/trendy pieces can be interesting to read, but yours is the only one that actually adds real value to my life because it shows me how to dress in a practical, stylish, flattering way. So thank you, I am a big fan :)

  10. Audrey, you have great style and one thing we as bloggers will never be able to do is - Please Everyone! Impossible!
I have accidentally come across a site too that just basically is a hater site for bloggers (and I'm guessing youtubers too). I was shocked and down at first, but then I realized all I can do is feel sorry for those women. Their lives must be sad and miserable. Jealousy makes people nasty. If they were not jealous of your style and success as a blogger, why would they take time out of their day to write mean things? What other explanation is there!?!
Ignore the haters! If they're hating than you must be doing something right :) Keep up the great outfits coming!

  11. I'm so sorry, that's super lame. Generally when others feel like they need to put someone else down, they are struggling with jealousy or other personal negative issues. Its too bad that they felt like they needed to be so public about it. Blogs are all about opinions, for the writer and readers. If you don't like someone's blog, why read it? YOU are appreciated for your style and what you do, by many people! So thank YOU!

  12. I really enjoy checking your blog, almost daily, just to get some ideas. I like the way you write and your attitude about style, my favorite quote from today's post is "I wore it and I was comfortable. So Whatever." Thank you for putting yourself out there and staying positive despite any negative feedback :) You are absolutely lovely.

  14. I 100% agree with Carly's comment. She basically wrote the message I would've written for you. I love your style and tips you share so we can all look cute and put together too :)

  15. Before I even read the text of your post, I was thinking of pieces I could use to recreate your outfit. I love cute and comfortable styles, and you post a lot of them. Like everyone else is saying, don't worry about the haters, you have better things to do.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would like to say thank you for all the hard work you put into your blog, it has helped my out of my fashion rut :) I love your style!

    ReplyDelete
  17. One of the things that keeps me interested in your blog is that you are so real and relatable! Not everyone has a need or desire to look like they just stepped of a runway.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Your style blog is the first one I have followed. I don't feel the need right now to follow any others for a few reasons. 1. I am a sahm so I don't have lots of money, time or need to be super stylish. 2. I feel your style is achievable. I could afford pieces like you wear and have places to wear them. Lastly you seem like a good person who would never turn her nose up at me if you saw me on the street with my unwashed hair and sweat pants just trying to grocery shop before my kid has a melt down. For me you are my go to style guru

    ReplyDelete
  19. Audrey, I love your blog posts! Forget the haters.... you are a stylist of the people!! Keep your head up!

  20. psh, whatever, I love your style. I actually get more compliments about my outfits now then I did before I started reading your blog and it's NOT because I've purchased a bunch of "super chic" clothes. I like that I don't need to spend money, but rather time reworking my closet. I think that is a greater skill. Ignore the haters, we love you. :)

  21. I'm so sorry to hear that. I've never commented on your blog before, but I've been a loyal follower for over a year. I absolutely love your style and all of your advice has helped me in so many ways. It's been amazing to see your style evolve over time too. Keep up the good work! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and my opinion is that you are awesome and have a great blog! (:

    ReplyDelete
  22. Out of all the style blogs I've found through Pinterest, yours is the own I've actually stuck with and looked at almost every day. I love how you mix and match outfits and you do have great style! Besides, style is more about opinion anyway, everyone has their own sense of fashion. But I do love your style and I get lots of great ideas for my wardrobe from you! So thanks for being YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree with all the comments here- I look at a few style blogs every day but yours makes me feel good about myself BECAUSE you don't look like you just stepped out of a magazine. Your style is fun, real, achievable and inspiring, and I've picked up so many tips from you that I use on a daily basis.
Keep going with what you're great at and trust your sense of style, because we all do :)

  24. so many 'fashion blogs' or 'style blogs' are so contrived. they PILE on the crap that they are most often given by sponsors. and i am sure most of them change into something more comfortable before going on with their day. i cannot read most other 'style blogs' because they are fantasy and unrealistic. i get that people are 'inspired' by that, but i appreciate and am inspired by your practicality and style.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh my gosh! The reasons I follow your blog are because you are so stylish and yet everyday as well!! I can actually make your outfits happen for me!! I don't follow bloggers who only have a clothing budget in the 5-digits! I NEED someone like you to inspire me and keep me youthful and inspired...you do this every.single.day! PLEASE if any doubts have crept into your mind DON'T LET THEM GET TO YOU! It's this moment when I wish I knew who they were so I could be sure to never follow them. We love you, we support you, we are inspired by you!! Keep it up girl...I look forward to your posts every day!! Hugs!

  26. I love your blog. 1. Your outfits are affordable 2. Your outfits are super cute and put together, but practical 3. They are modest. So sorry to hear that people have been saying mean things. Keep doing what you're doing and stay true to yourself. I've just recently started following your blog and I love it, you've given me great inspiration! I'm a busy stay at home mom of 4, but I, too, like to feel put together. So thank you and ignore all those mean people.

  27. P.S. Can you do a post on rolling up your sleeves on the denim jacket some day? I mess it up every time!! Thanks!!

  28. Don't listen to them Audrey!! The reason I love your blog so much is that you look like a REAL person and you dress like real people should dress - but with more style than me :) You are beautiful and have exceptional style. I look forward to your blog everyday and it has helped me create and define my style better than any other blog out there.
    Thank you for being you!!

  29. It's amazing how easy it is to be mean/snarky/offensive behind the anonymity of the internet. We style bloggers range far and wide in complexity/fashion forwardness/style/preferences that there really is no room to put down anyone's style. We're all as different as our DNA. Whoever it was, don't listen. I have a handful of bloggers in my "MUST READ DAILY" section of my RSS reader and your blog is one of them. I find that your style is approachable and when I'm inspired by an outfit you've worn it's accessible - I can recreate something similar because you wear items and styles that many of us probably own. Keep on doing you!!

Pffftt, don't listen to them! You are chic and lovely. Your blog is beautiful and each outfit is REAL. I relate to your style and I can shop where you shop. I hope you can continue to shrug them off and continue to share with us your amazing style. You inspire me daily!

That's ridiculous! Obviously, these people were never taught the Golden Rule. And regardless of their opinions, I have mine and I will gladly shout from the rooftops how amazing and inspiring and encouraging you are, both as a fashionista and as a person. Even if sometimes our styles don't click, I still find something inspiring in every single one of your posts. EVERY SINGLE ONE. You are on my blogroll and I will follow you for as long as you honor us with your thoughts. Don't let haters get you down. Ugh.

  32. Your blog is my favorite style blog. EVER. Yours is the first I read everyday. I've read your Building a Remixable Wardrobe series several times (trying to get it to stick in my "mommy" brain). Before I found your blog I was just a lost mom with no style and a closet full of one hit wonders. You made everything click and now it makes sense and I feel like I can actually dress myself with some style. I don't want to look like I walked out of a magazine. I want to look like a normal, everyday person with some style and you nailed that. Your outfits are practical and affordable and attainable for the average everyday person and most of all they are stylish! Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing your style with us!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thank you for always posting such awesome, wearable, affordable, DARLING outfits, all while mixing it all up with stuff you already own. I feel that is much harder to do than getting a new dress from Neiman Marcus each week. I love your blog, and I check it religiously Works for the office, life at home, life with kids, date night, you name it, all while looking so styled and finished. Putting Me Together has opened my eyes to about 20 different, new outfits already existing in my closet. You cannot beat that. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love your style, Audrey! I love your classic, yet playful styles. We have very similar tastes, which keeps me coming back! Never let anyone discourage you or make you feel blue.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Different strokes for different folks. I would NEVER wear most of the stuff I see on most blogs. I have nothing against it, but it's just not me. Your style is comfortable and affordable and always so well put together and that's exactly what I'm trying to achieve! I've only been reading your blog for about a month now but you've inspired me so much already.

    ReplyDelete
  36. PLEASE don't fret about what somebody on the Internet says about you. You are not dowdy! All of us who read you like your style, and nobody is ever going to appeal to everybody, so be happy that you appeal to all the lovely people here instead of the mean people who insulted you.

What I love about your blog is that it's clothes that normal people would actually wear, and you take the time to research alternatives that are similar, and you discuss how to put REAL outfits together. Yesterday one of the blogs I read featured this women in a pink and orange checked shirt with a bright flowered skirt and a giant belt and boots and various accessories. And I thought, OK, interesting, and I guess stylish, but I would never ever dress like that. I appreciate your honesty and your advice about how to make the wardrobes we have work for us in real-life settings.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Seriously though...you have readers! We're not idiots--we know what we like. If we didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE your style's look and accessibility, we would delete the feed. The proof is in the pudding!...er...followers!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm sure we're adding to the pile of accolades and encouragements when we say that we LOVE you, Audrey! The wonderful thing about style is that it's YOURS, and you obviously have plenty of people who love it too, including your readers here at Daily Charms! We love your blog because you present yourself honestly and practically and we can relate to that! So thank you for your fearlessness to be yourself!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love your blog. Mainly because you show stuff that I can afford and find in my local stores as thrifting! Thank you for putting yourself out there with every post. And don't stop doing what you do!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love your style, it is so classic! While it sometimes might not be what I would call trendy, that's why I love it! I am not about the latest trends (when will the hi-lo thing end!?) and I love how every outfit you have is something that I would wear and never look back and regret wearing it. I've stopped following so many "chic" blogs because I just would never wear what they wear, but always love your style!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I always think you look so pretty! I love your simple put together look and especially that you always look modest. You've really helped me understand how to wear what's in my closet better and how to shop for different pieces. I really struggled to look put together after my early 20s and your help has made a huge difference! THANK YOU!!!

  42. I recently subscribed to your blog because I loved your style. Please keep the outfits coming. I esecially like this one with the striped maxi skirt since I bought one months ago and haven't found the right way to style it. Now I have. Thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  43. One of the things I love about your style, and why I subscribe to your blog (in Feedly, which is why I don't always comment) is that it's wearable for regular people. You show us how to put "trendy" things in a more wearable perspective, especially for those of us who may not really want to look like the proverbial trend salad.

I appreciate it, and I know lots of others do too. (And I especially love that your climate is warmer, because so many of your things are wearable nearly year-round in Houston. I cannot with the tights and coats and stuff ninety percent of the time.)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm a new follower and I think you're style is perfect and realistic compared to a lot of the style blogs out there. It's just the right combination of preppy, classic and trendy for me. Keep calm and carry on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love this outfit, love your easy style. Way to rise above!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Your style is perfect. While I do enjoy reading other style blogs, they are not realistic for me to wear AT ALL. First of all, I would look ridiculous (not that they do, but for me...not so wearable). Second, the stuff is usually way out of my price range (sorry, $150 is not "a steal" for me!).

I love your blog because the stuff you post is completely wearable. It is the only style blog that comes SO close to my usual style. You just give me ideas for how to use what I have! (Also, it is the only blog that I have seen something on here and then actually gone out and bought it. Haha.) Keep up what you're doing--you're my favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I recommend your blog all over the place because of your great wardrobe tips and your style, which is reflective of the way most women dress, IMO. Most of us aren't chic and probably don't want to be - it isn't sustainable!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love your style, and your blog has been # 1 in helping me understand how to look put together and how to shop more practically instead of just buying random things that I see and hating them later. You always look so cute, and your style is so achievable, I actually feel like I can DO IT when I read your blog. thank you so much for putting yourself out there. you rock!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have been following your blog for awhile (I'm also in San Diego) but have not commented before. I blog, too, and although my blog is not a style blog per se, I do post photos of myself at times. I also found some negative comments about me on a web forum and found it quite hurtful. I had to remind myself that no matter who you are or how you dress, there will be people out there who won't like it.

Also, a lot of people in other parts of the country and world don't understand the way people in San Diego dress. The way you dress (and the way I dress for that matter) is pretty dressy for this area, although people in other parts of the world will consider it too casual. I actually love the way you dress and I've saved some of your photos to my folder of looks I want to copy. I'm probably 20 years older than you, but I would still wear many of your looks.

You're beautiful and very stylish and I love your blog! Keep up the great work you do and try to forget about the naysayers. Another blogger pointed something out when I had my issues a month or so back. She said that I would likely get new readers as a result of the negative comments. While the naysayers are criticizing, others will click over to my site and love what I have to say (and maybe even my outfits, too). I'm sure the same is true for you! Focus on the positive and all of us who love your blog and push the "negative Nancys" aside!

  50. I absolutely LOVE your style, and in fact, when people I know mention anything about wanting to dress differently or about finding a new style, i automatically send them to your blog because your style is real and wearable! You have given me so much inspiration and courage in finding my own style. So Thank YOU!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Just so you know you are the only style blog I am subscribed too. That means out of all the style blogs I have seen yours is the only one I have thought worth reading on a regular basis. Your outfits are awesome and I drool over them time and time again. Just so you know you are awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am a new commenter, but just wanted to say that I appreciate your blog as a place for finding wearable style. I am a teacher and will never spend my days in pencil skirts and impossibly high heels as are shown on many style blogs. Your style is put together, but comfortable too.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Audrey-don't concern yourself with a few negative comments. I feel if you only reach one person in a positive way then you are a success. I check your blog everyday and I can honestly say that your blog has taught me more about how to "put myself together" with a reasonable budget and realistic pieces than any other site I've visited. High fashion with through the roof price tags is not where I am at this point in my life. I appreciate the comfortable, friendly environment that you and other readers provide and the positive, dignified way people conduct themselves here. Keep up the awesome job you do!

  54. Pfft. I would steal your closet, and every item in it, in a heartbeat. And I probably *still* wouldn't manage to figure out how to look as put together as you do unless I was reading your how-to's. Ignore the nay-sayers.

Also, I really love that you do this for you and not for others. I've seen some style blogs evolve into something bizarre and a lot less wearable and they honestly lose their appeal for me. I appreciate that you keep it real.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I haven't commented before but I have been reading your blog for awhile now. I truly appreciate your relatable, wearable style, one that I can actually work into my day-to-day life. I read your blog not to look for "high fashion" but to find inspiration that fits into my life (which is not one of jet-setting and fashion shows but of sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day)! Keep on doing what you are doing...don't let the negative nellies get you down.

I've loved your different series, especially about creating a re-mixable wardrobe, and have incorporated many of your tips into my personal style. So thank YOU!

  56. I'm so sad to see this! I've never commented before, despite following this blog for about a year, but felt compelled to today. Your style is exactly what I want my style to be. I am a normal person who does not have thousands of dollars each month to spend on clothes! And I want to be comfortable while looking cute and occasionally stylish. You shop at the same stores I do (or introduce me to new ones). Keep doing what you're doing and don't let people like that bring you down!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Don't let it get you down... You're most beautiful when you're being real and being you... and that's what you do on this blog. I look for style blogs, not fashion blogs. Trust me, you've got style AND personality... it comes through in your writing! Keep your head up and thanks for blogging... you've made me look at my wardrobe with new perspective and given me plenty of stylespiration!!! :D

I love your style because it is so much like mine not fancy just nice and comfortable. I look for your blogposts everyday and get excited to see them!

  59. I have always LOVED your style. It's practical and down-to-earth, but still pretty, colorful, and always stylish. I would never ever describe your style as dowdy, and the only reason why I can think anyone would say such a thing is that you aren't constantly done up in mini-skirts, pencil skirts, short dresses, bandeau tops, sky-high platform heels, and other, perhaps more "edgy", things I have seen other fashion bloggers wear. Not to knock on their style, because they also look fantastic, but that certainly doesn't make you dowdy! You are my favorite style blog because the things you wear are the things I see myself wearing in real life and still being completely stylish. You rock! Don't let the opinions of the few get you down. You can just see from the vast, vast majority of comments about you that we love your style!

I Love your style because its figure friendly! I don't want to be the size of a hanger!! I like my curves, and have gotten compliments on outfits I have put together since reading your blog, so let them drink their hate-orade because you rock :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I've been following you for a while now & you helped me figure out my own personal style. No other fashion blog I follow uses clothes from stores that are actually affordable, cute & something I could buy and see myself wearing. They're all just haters; don't listen :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Now see that is why i love your style, because it's a style I could actually pull off. And one that fits into real life. I live in the midwest and i'm a self employed music teacher, and a Jesus lover. So i'm not dressing with huge heels everyday and wearing short or low cut stuff. I appreciate you being YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  63. You look great. I'm getting ready to launch my own style blog and am dreading the bitchy comments. It's one thing for someone's taste not to match your own but it's completely unnessecary to riducule anyone for what they wear.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I've never commented on your blog before, but after this post, I just needed to.
First, I think your style IS chic.
Second, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you wear clothes that normal people can actually wear. I love that you don't wear unrealistically expensive and unusual clothes, because almost no one truly feels comfortable in those OR can afford them. You always look gorgeous and stylish but still completely real and never, ever dowdy.

Thank you for taking the time to maintain this blog to help others out even though some people are obnoxious. (And, dare I say, jealous?) Go eat some ice cream and tell them to suck it.

I love your style (which I also expressed in the survey). Your style is practical, comfortable, and very cute. You always look pulled together and you're a real woman. I appreciate the style ideas and it takes a lot for anyone to put themselves out there to be judged. Please ignore the negativity you receive from a few people. I check your blog daily for styling ideas.

  66. You're amazing! I have been so inspired by your style, and I think it's awesome. You represent the "real world" of style, real style that actual woman can really WEAR! I think what you do is amazing. Don't pay attention to the haters! I second what Beth said below...jealous much? You are so talented and a fabulous writer with a successful blog! They're just silly.

  67. My motto is "wear what you want"! You look stylish and happy. Haters are hateful :-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh honey, I am so sorry. Them saying your style is not their style is one thing, but saying it emphatically as if you've offended them was just plain mean. Just know that you have a readership that actually likes the fact that you aren't trying to look like you belong in a magazine! Yours is the first style blog I ever actually started following, because your style is so attainable for "normal people" to look put-together and you have had a huge impact on my style. So thank YOU, Audrey. Stay you. We wouldn't be here if we didn't love it. :)

  69. I love looking through magazines for style ideas, but the truth is that super chic stuff is always crazy expensive and not always crazy comfortable. I've bought things that are pretty yet uncomfortable, and I end up feeling awkward and self conscious wearing it so I only wear it a couple of times. What a waste! Trendy yet comfortable is what I look for and I think you do it well. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love your blog! I've always wanted to be put together and stylish but it has always seemed unachievable for me. I love your style because it is comfortable, put together, (and affordable) and a style that I can do right out of my current closet. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  71. You have a great "real world" style. Some of the things people wear may look great on camera, but you couldn't actually wear while living life. What's the point of that. :) Thanks for all that you post!

  72. I love your sense of style! It's something that is achievable to real woman and that's very encouraging to see that it's possible for everyone to look put together everyday. Keep up the awesome work. I really enjoy reading and seeing your posts everyday :)

  75. Aubrey, I found your blog the other week when Googling summer outfit ideas, and it's just an amazing place I keep coming back to. It's refreshing to see easy-to-find pieces from familiar and beloved locales like Target. As everyone else is attesting: it's an inspiration to revitalize our own wardrobes, your tips are all-encompassing for many body types and budgets, the photographs are clear and colorful and helpful, and these are looks people actually want to wear. So go you and thanks for being you.

  76. Ooh I love this outfit (as I do your other outfits)! There'll always be complainers and haters, forget them please. You wouldn't have such a huge following if we didn't love your ideas. Personally, I especially like that you take the time and make the effort to feature outfits that are affordable, and everyday basics that can be worn several times without making things look the same from one day to the next. Keep up the good work! :)

  77. I've never commented before either but after seeing this post just wanted to say that your style blog is actually my FAVORITE of all the style blogs I read/follow. I love your outfits and feel like you put them together in a fashionable, ATTAINABLE and affordable way which is something I really relate to!

Your blog is my absolute favorite and the only blog I visit on a daily basis! In fact, I have your blog on my toolbar....lol...Not to sound stalker-ish, but I love everything about your style including your haircut...the same as mine. Continue to educate the "real" women of this world on how to look put together!!

  79. I love your style! I work and play in a very relaxed and casual atmosphere, and I find that your outfit ideas are appropriate to my lifestyle. I love that your look is put together, colorful, and polished, but still laid back and not too fussy. You also have one of the best instructional fashion blogs I've seen. You have taught me so much about style. Please keep up the great work.

    ReplyDelete
  80. One of my favorite things about your outfits is the color selections that you make. I worked in Manhattan for too long and thought every outfit had to have a base of black, dark brown, or navy. You've helped me expand my colors!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Your blog was the first style blog I ever followed and it continues to be my favorite because your outfits are for normal day to day style. Everything you post is so cute and put together - dont change a thing! :)

  82. Dowdy??? Not sure where they got that from...because you are NOT dowdy.

You know what I love about your blog is I can relate to it. Not all of us are trying to be "chic" every day. The vast majority of the population just wants to look like we didn't just roll out of bed! I mean I'm a stay-at-home-mom of two boys and all I want is to look respectable. "Chic" isn't doable or even necessary in my life. So spoot on the "chic" people. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I love your style and think you're an inspiration to me! Keep it up lady!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I love your blog! And your tips for creating our own style and wardrobe are super super cool! And yes, you don't look that much "chic" but you look just perfect 'cause it's the way you are <3 Plus, who want's to be chic! Life is not a formal party every day, it's just normal life! You're right: everybody has an opinion, but don't care about those who can't appreciate your style, the most important thing is that YOU appreciate your style!
Keep holding on! (do you know the song with the same name ?, i love it! especially the glee version)

  85. I've been meaning to leave a comment, so I think now is the appropriate time to do so. A few months ago we took two more foster kiddos (in addition to our foster baby) and I was going through a really rough time of it. I had to snap myself out of it, so I lost a little weight and started reading your blog (found through Pinterest). I cannot tell you how much it has helped me! I've always loved fashion but never felt like I knew how to DO it. Now I do :) I feel so much more put together and cute on a daily basis! I'm re-working my wardrobe and having a blast. Thank you!

  86. Boooo to these haters! I, for one, LOVE your style. It pretty, polished and affordable, and that why I check you blog all the time! Don't change a thing! You are awesome!!

  87. I love your blog because you show clothes I would actually wear, but in combinations I might not have thought of. And I love that you put so much time and effort into finding multiple options!

  89. Don't listen to the haters! You have loyal
Following and it is because you are a normal woman with normal clothes (and a budget), and because you don't look like a Vogue spread. The normal part is why I follow you. I can relate to you and your style. You give me ideas for dressing neat, cute, and put together, which is all I want from a style blog. Keep it coming, and you are adorable. Love, Rachel in Mississippi.

  91. I am soooSOSOOSOsoooooooo!! sorry you took the bullet for "us". I am new to these blogs as I've been a stay at home Mom forEVER and literally owned NOTHING to wear under 2 dozen items counting tee shirts, 1 pair of jeans, two skirts and 3 pair of shorts). I hated going out because I didn't have anything to wear.

I have stopped following those blogs (even though they are how I found yours) because I was overindulging and trying to assimilate to their lifestyles.

They may be louder (the snooty totties) but they are NOT the majority. (If they were how do you think Target, Kohls, Sears and Penneys would still be in business?)

You go Girl, you are it for me (other than GCOGH) which you also led me to. I finally feel good about myself because I have a wardrobe I can look forward to getting up in the morning. I went out and bought a light for my closet after 3 1/2 years of not having one (why bother is there's nothing in there worth seeing. . . besides I always wore the same items together - never ever mixed them and thus the reason I HATED SHOPPING!! (Amazing how much more focused my shopping has been as I started the first wardrobe capsule with what I thought was a good idea and no idea how to do it and returned virtually everything as a result). I have made not one but am working on the second (for a cruise) wardrobe capsule because of your site.

Don't leave us!! Thanks for sticking in there for the soft voice of the majority.

  92. Audrey, your blog was the first style blog I started to read. I then started reading more and more (most of which I found through you). If it wasn't for your style I would never have found the world of fashion blogging. I would still be pouring through fashion magazines that don't reflect my lifestyle and we all know how those magz can make one feel really bad about oneself and ones lifestyle. Thanks to you I now see women and fashion I can relate to on a daily basis. Now, more or less a year later, I have my own little blog. If my style can help just one person half as much as your has helped me I'd consider it to be super chic!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Let's be honest, Audrey. Those people probably wear sweatpants all day while they hide behind their computer screens. what you're doing, and the way you have inspired people, is so much greater than anything anyone else has ever achieved by talking smack about you. Haters gonna hate.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Screw them. I'm not the most chic when it comes to fashion (should've seen what I wore in college) but there's a difference between trendy and timeless. Some stuff they put in fashion magazines looks like a hungover New York designer threw up on them. You are adventurous with your style, yet accessible, and you put it all together from stores that are affordable. I like knowing that if you're wearing it, I can probably find it (or something like it) only miles away from home.

This is not even including the fact that you are abso-freaking-lutely adorable.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Reading negative stuff about yourself online always sucks, and um... you have like tons and tons of readers and your pictures are all over Pinterest so with widespread exposure comes more people with opinions. I think your blog is great, and you have such a warm personality that shows through your writing. Sure, your style isn't like, high fashion chic with Celine bags and Valentino pumps, but it's very everyday woman chic, and a style that a lot of people (myself included) can use to draw inspiration and ideas from.

I know we chatted before re: internet criticism and so sorry if this is a repeat of what I said before, but these people are drawing conclusions based on glancing at your blog or their personal notions of what a "fashion blog" should be, and it's not an attack on YOU or your character. Things they said are probably just a passing observation and you shouldn't let someone's offhand comment affect you too much!

    <3!!!

  96. Hi. I have never commented here (mostly because it's a pain to do so from my iPad!) but I read regularly. You are, in fact, the only style blogger I follow, mainly because when I found you, I thought, "Hey! I could do that!", something I never thought I would say about a style blog. I sometimes have similar pieces to what you show, but never thought of combining them. Or, I have seen things out shopping that reminded me of your posts and tried them when I might not have otherwise. I really do appreciate all of the work you put in to your blog, and I'm grateful that you're so down to earth! Thanks for all the inspiration!

  97. If everyone had the same style, life would be pretty boring! We need different options for different tastes and life styles. I love the looks you put together, and they are DO-ABLE which is very important for us regular people. :D Blog on! You're doing a great job!

  100. I am another new commenter, but had to weigh in. I am so sorry about the other blog. Yes, I know it comes with the territory, but I know if it had been me, I would have felt horrible. For what it's worth, I have been reading your blog these last few months not only because I like your style, but also because I like your voice so much. I love that you dress for you. And I think you look great doing it. I am middle-aged and feel that some of your choices just don't translate for me. But I still like seeing them and I learn a lot from you. I actually follow a few style blogs, and a number of them feature women whose styles I really don't even care for--but again, I like what they have to say, they give me good ideas, and there's always something to learn. We all have to dress for ourselves, and I think you do a great job.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oh Audrey, it is so sad that people can be so mean. I love your style...that is why I keep coming back every day to read your posts and get style tips. There are so many blogs out there that if someone doesn't like what is on your blog they should move on. The true character of those catty women has been shown through their words. Keep on, keeping on Audrey!!

  102. Hi Audrey. I've been following your blog for a few months now, but I've never commented before. I found you while I was researching a striped blazer from Shade Clothing. When I saw it on you, I thought she is too cute! I instantly fell in love w/ your style, your love for GOD and Target =).

I just wanted to say, I know it takes a lot of courage to put your pics on the internet and let people dissect you. Please don't let negative people get you down. Remember, when people say negative things about others it actually says more about the person they are.

    Stay blessed and FAB,

  103. I love your style! I'm sorry for the mean things other people say. You have a great personal style and you are so easy to relate to. I love reading your blog and seeing the adorable outfits you post. I look forward to checking your blog everyday and not just because of your outfits but because I can tell that even though you love fashion and clothes you have other important priorities, too (God, husband, job, etc).

  104. There are lots of trolls on the internet. I always encourage folks not to feed them so they will go away. Its easy to say mean things to people when you are online because you can hide like a coward. I love your style and check your blog every single day. I would like to ask some of these folks just where they are going on a daily basis that they need to be dressed to the nines. For every one naysayer you have many more faithful viewers who love your style. Don't let the trolls pull down your spirit.

Hey, I am a little new to your blog so I think this is my first comment but everyone's style is different. Don't waste a thought on those comments, clearly you are doing you and I and so many of your blogger readers love and appreciate that. I love your style as do I love the style of many other fashion bloggers alike.

    ReplyDelete
  107. SO MUCH TROLLS. I've never understood the draw of bash sites - I mean literally, they will pounce big bloggers for having too much money and things that are too nice and a look that isn't attainable and then they'll jump down your throat for being "dowdy"? They have nothing nice to say about anyone, and I just find that to be a really huge fking waste of time and space and life. You're wonderful, please don't let negative people kill your sunshine :/

    ReplyDelete
  108. Well if your style is dowdy, then I have a problem because I love your style and everything you wear!

  109. Man, sometimes people are jerks, aren't they? I mean, I may not wear the same style as you but I read your blog because I like YOU! Your voice is so clear and friendly and that keeps me coming back.

Although, I do have a friend who I am helping with a maxi skirt very similar to the one you have on today. I'd love to show her some of your looks with that same skirt. Is there any easy way to find them?

I am so sorry to hear that some people find joy in tearing you down. As humans we are all unique and have different tastes. Mine is similar but not the same as yours. Neither is wrong... just our own expression of ourselves. That's what I love about your blog. And the fact that you don't feel the need to have tons of designer label clothing just to write a fashion blog. Thanks for being you!

  116. You have an incredibly down to earth and relatable style! I LOVE seeing your outfits because I feel that any woman could look great in them, no matter what! You put great textures, colors and styles together that are very inspiring and you shop at places where it's affordable to buy them.

I, personally, am not a fan of avant garde outfits nor having to shop at expensive places to attain the outfits that they claim are the cutest, trendiest ones out there. Your site is fantastic and I share it as often as I possibly can.

Also, funny story: I went to college with an Audrey whom you could be twins with. Tuh-wins!

Just so you know - I have always been considered a generally stylish person by my friends, but your blog has helped me figure out how to achieve that super-put-together look that turns an every -day fun, matching outfit into an every-day, coordinated, stylish ensemble, rather than just looking stylish for certain events and then looking like a "mom" the rest of the time. I think the reason your blog is so popular and helpful is because you are able to analyze style and fashion at any level and translate into an every-day, "normal", but chic look, NOT a fashion magazine-slash-totally-impractical look. Your advice is really practical, and as a mom of two little boys, my style HAS to be practical. Sooooo THANK YOU! No other fashion blog has ever helped me like yours, and I feel so put together now with just a little extra accessorizing with belts and necklaces and the idea of working with a wardrobe color palette. Seriously, you have made sense of WHY things work, and I feel like I have a new understanding of my old (existing) wardrobe. All because of you!!!! Thank you! Keep being you! :)

Also, I LOVE how you show different ways to wear or rethink certain items - for instance, I never rolled boyfriend jeans before for some reason, and now I realize I LOVE both the look, and the comfort of that style! Same thing with tops over dresses, tying shirts, partial tucking, belting tops, how tops should fit (I'm short and had totally been wearing them too long but I didn't realize it was unflattering), etc. etc. etc. So yeah, clearly I LOVE your blog and you have taught me so much! Thank you!!!!

  121. Your blog is accessible in a way that so many others are just not. I've read a lot of blogs where the outfits were just about the labels behind the items or the blogger just had zero personality (or worse, a really snobby one). You're fantastic and your blog works for so many audiences. I've shared it with friends, coworkers and even my mom, and we've all found our own takeaways.

Keep being yourself, you're clearly doing so many things right!

  129. Your blog is the only one that I can take seriously because it is realistic. I want to look put together too, not overstyled. Your clothes fit my budget, there's nothing worse than looking at a blog and falling in love with a top only to find out it costs $90! Other blogs are fun to look at, but I would never actually dress like that because I would look ridiculous. You have done so much for my confidence, keep up the good work!

  133. I'm another long time follower of your blog and a first time commenter. Your blog is my favorite on the web because you are real! You keep life in perspective -- shopping and fashion are both fun, but there is so much more to life than the clothes that you wear. You inspire me to experiment with my closet and remind me that I don't need to drop gobs of money on expensive clothing -- target and forever 21 sell plenty of staples that you can dress up and still look polished. I love your blog and admire your attitude. Keep on smiling, Audrey! Sending you a big hug.

  146. First time commenter because I have to let you know that I follow your blog because you give the best content for how to create a wardrobe (and as a bonus with clothing that I would actually wear!). I've only been following for about a year or so but I have you to thank for helping me to find my fantastic striped shirt from Shade Clothing, two of my favorite skirts and adorable yellow flats from Target, and that I even tried (and loved!) wearing a mustard colored cardigan. Your series on fit and clothing alterations was extremely helpful and so well done! I also love when you pick a piece of clothing and show all the different ways it can be worn. I've been following fashion blogs for years but yours is my favorite and the one I always recommend to friends.

I live in a small town, if I dressed "chic" I would look ridiculous. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this blog!

  147. I visit your blog nearly daily because you are a real person who puts widely accessible clothing together into incredibly cute outfits. Your practical style appeals to countless numbers of us who have lives to live, jobs to go to, families to care for, and don't have time to spend all day in front of a full-length mirror. Try not to be discouraged by the negativity of a few people who have nothing better to do than indulge their jealous feelings. Keep up the great work!

I want you to know for the first time in my life I enjoy shopping and feel put together! I am no longer fixated on my size. You show us all how to be stylish and feminine without dressing revealingly. This is not just a fashion blog. Thank you for this Ministry, you really are a blessing!

  151. I'm sorry you had to read those comments. :( I read your blog because you DON'T look like you just stepped out of a magazine. Your outfits are similar to things I would actually wear. Please be encouraged! Plenty of people love your style and enjoy your blog.

  152. If people are so desperate to see women dressed up like magazine models, then where should they look? Yes, that's right- in a magazine! You've never once said you're trying to emulate a model (& tbh, I think from all these comments you can see we're all very grateful for that), so people should stop trying to compare apples & oranges! 153. They're obviously not as chic and fabulous as they think they are if they have time to be talking smack about a sister. The fact is you inspire us with your style & you make sure it is accessible. Keeping it real - and judgment free - like a [blogger] friend should.

  154. Yours was the first style blog I ever read-you are so relatable you inspired me to try and be my best-most stylish me. Thank you!

  156. Audrey - I think your style and your personality are awesome! I get so many good ideas from you! Thanks for putting yourself out there.

  157. whoa, 170+ comments. I'll add another! I think fashion blogs have turned from being like "hey, this is what I wore" to all of a sudden being this fake world of trying to be a magazine spread. I appreciate that there are women out there who stick with the real and the normal. It's not atlantic pacific but it's not supposed to be. You are helping show real women how to look put together in their real lives, whether they are just starting their jobs, transitioning, being a stay at home mom, whatever. that, and on a real budget. if people expect something other than that from a blog such as yours, there are many fake fashion blogs we can point them to.

    we got you girl :)

  158. Hi Audrey!
I don't usually comment on anything because I figure who cares what I have to say, but I just read this post and felt compelled to write. I've just recently discovered style blogs and things like Bloglovin. I have a 2 yr old and since the birth I've struggled with some really difficult health issues that include severe chronic pain and fatigue. I barely have the strength to care for my child how I'd envisioned. When I was pregnant I had these utopian dreams of running & playing in the park with my baby, going to carnivals, farmers markets, museums, etc. all while looking fabulous. My reality turned out to be something quite different and I am barely able to be active which has caused weight gain and feeling quite down on myself. Ultimately, I've let myself go big time. I can't even remember the last time I went shopping or felt excited about outfits and getting dressed up. That's what led me to search for outfits online and, long story short, I found style blogs. I've browsed a lot of blogs and believe me when I tell you that yours is one of my favorites. You're style is pretty, colorful and modern without being too complicated. You're a working mom so I feel like you're in tune to the challenges of young modern moms (time, money, a balance of youthful sexiness and modest motherhood). I really appreciate your blog because it's obviously done out of passion. Let's get real...after work, wifehood and motherhood nothing extracurricular really gets done unless it's driven by passion and dedication. So I just wanted to say that because people are so judgemental and it's dissapointing. Just wanted to let you know that your one of my fave style inspirations. I haven't actually felt well enough or had the strength or motivation to put together outfits how I wishI I could. But if someday this illness goes away and I finally feel ready to get back in the stylish life, you're the girl I'll be turning to for inspiration.

Audrey my friend, you are so beautiful inside and out. I constantly think how much you embody the spirit of What Not To Wear (my favorite show of all time.) You have fantastic taste and do an incredible job of helping women feel good about themselves and learn to mix and match what they have. Don't grow weary of doing good, because sister, you are!

  160. Doing a blog such as yours lets us see a glimpse of who you are...and this is what yours says about you - you are a beautiful person inside and out! I love your blog!! How rude of someone o comment in such a negative way - it's like gossip online! Be encouraged by this flood of comments. Your passion is contagious in the best of ways. Thank you for all the hard work you put into it.
    Blessings, Janine

Your site is refreshing. Your style is polished and put together and affordable. You help women have confidence, and show them how to create a personal style without blowing the bank. You seem kind and generous. Maybe you'll have a chance to reach out and love on your critics. You never know what God might do.

  162. Girl haters are gonna hate. Don't pay them any mind. You have a whole bunch of followers (me included) who love your style. You're great and don't let the ugliness of haters get to you. That's what they want. You have inspired my style and I've gotten compliments from many. My style is not dowdy, it's just real. That's what you are, REAL! Keep doing your thing. We all support you!

  163. Repeating what others have said, I'm sure.

Not chic enough? Sorry. I like your fashion suggestions. They are actually within the price range of normal Americans!! I've visited those other blogs. $250 for a blouse? Sorry. I'm a normal paycheck-to-paycheck American. If that doesn't make me chic enough to appease the snobs … their "good" opinion is not worth it.

    Keep at it, my dear!!!

    ReplyDelete
  164. Oh, and also, your style is modest and appropriate, and spans the ages of your many readers. There's truly something for everyone. You rock!

    ReplyDelete
  165. First time commenter, although I've been following your blog for months. Your remix able wardrobe series totally changed the way I dress and I proud to say that I've taught my friends what completed pieces are! I get so many complements on my outfits now...your blog is perfect for me and obviously from the comments lots of others who are looking for modestly priced fashion that uses classic bases with trendy touches. Keep it up!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Don't take this the wrong way, but I love the fact that you DON'T look like you came out of a magazine! Your outfits are so down-to-earth that I feel like I could actually wear them. My favorite thing about your blog is that you aren't intimidating. Since I've been following you, I've implemented a lot of your principles and so many people have commented that my style has grown and that I have cuter outfits now! Thank you for being so down-to-earth! Keep it up!!

  167. Just joining the other ladies is saying thanks for your blog! Yours was the first that I could relate to as I am a mother of two small children and some of the other blogs are too high maintenance for me. I just want to look put-together, cute, and like I care about my appearance. Your blog has sparked an interest for fashion, and has helped me feel confident about my appearance. Thanks so much, Audrey, and keep up the good work! :)

  168. I'm not a big commenter on blogs anymore, but I wanted to comment on this entry that the main reason I read your blog is because you dress like a normal person with a normal job (like most of us). Not to knock any bigger blogs but some of the style is just so out there that I can't relate and have no interest in following anymore; unfortunately, not everyone can afford a super extensive closet with all of the latest trends. Your blog is relatable, and you're not shilling products and sponsored posts every day, which is also another why I follow. I'm assuming the site you read is GOMI, which I do read; however, I wouldn't take anything to heart. A lot of the criticism on the site is constructive, but, unfortunately, a lot of it is just catty. Just because you choose to dress a certain way as apposed to $500 dresses and "hooker heels" doesn't mean you're not fashionable.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I like your style and your style blog. (I found you via Pinterest.) You wear things so well and come up with outfit ideas that are both comfortable looking and stylish. I've taken style ideas that I've seen on your blog and applied it to my own world in my own way. So don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Keep up the good work! :)

    ReplyDelete
  170. Ummmmmm....... Wait?!? There are other blogs ;) other sites?!? My Internet is LOCKED on you & only you (totally in a charming follower way, not a creeper way!).
While many of us have graduated & moved on, a few desperate kids are still stuck in middle school. Don't let their little antics get you down.
Thanks for always keeping it real, real comfy, real clothes, real Audrey - just the way we like it!

    ReplyDelete
  171. A lot of ladies have chimed in and said what I wanted to say already, so just wanted to add my thank YOU because I really love your style and your blog and it has helped me out so much.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Oh my goodness, what is it with some people? Life is too short - I just wanted to echo everyone's comments here. Your blog is fantastic, I love your style. I am a stay-at-home-mum in Australia who was totally stuck in the jeans/t-shirt rut and your blog has helped me put together some great, wearable, comfortable, practical, affordable outfits. Although our seasons are upside down to yours, I live in Sydney which has a pretty similar climate to where you are, pretty mild winters and super hot summers, so I can always find inspiration on your blog. I have many of your photos on my phone which I take clothes shopping on the rare chance I get without the kiddo's. And I love your writing style. Please ignore the naysayers and keep up the awesome work xx

    ReplyDelete
  173. I am so happy to see so many responses! I think you and your site are fantastic! Thanks to you, I started building a better and more economical wardrobe. Thanks to you, I learned tricks that make me look more polished. I also have purchased items because of your site, so Target, Old Navy, Loft, and Gap should thank you (I just received my Olive cardigan from Gap based on your set of posts about it). I actually get compliments on my outfits now, and I tell them it was from your site. So, forget the haters, because you rock!

    ReplyDelete
  174. I follow you because you showcase ADORABLE clothes that I would ACTUALLY wear.
Keep up the good work. Whatever you do, please don't change your style to be how you think this hater-site would want you to be. I love your style!!
(side note: I recently bought an outfit similar to some things you've shown on your blog- floral flowy tank, white shorts- and I looove it! Thanks for the inspiration!)

    ReplyDelete
  175. I enjoy your blog MORE than others because you actually look like a normal person! I would actually wear the outfits you post- not so much with some of the other blogs out there. Keep doing what you do! You're one of my favorites!

    ReplyDelete
  176. Look at you Audrey! Your so awesome, beautiful and amazing!! Don't worry about trash talkers, you have tons of supporters who love what you do (it's obvious by all the feedback your getting on this post)

I'm basically best dressed at my office because of you :)

    ReplyDelete
  177. I, too, love your blog, Audrey. I am 31 and have been struggling for years to figure out what I like to wear and what looks good on me. Your outfits are accessible, affordable, and comfortable, so for a young-ish mom and work-from-home professional, I look to your blog for ideas for what I could really wear, whether I'm going to be at home or at work or with friends or whatever. I'm not a hugely style-conscious person, but when I feel good in my clothes, I have a better day. It's just true. So, thanks to you for helping me. Also, your great sense of humor really shines through this blog, which makes me enjoy reading your posts. :) (Also, I am a blog reader but never commenter. Today marks my first post.)

    ReplyDelete
  178. Girl! I love your style! It closely resembles what I am working towards as my own style! Some of the other style blogs out there don't do everything you do: they don't comparison shop for us, finding us like items at all different price points, and they CERTAINLY don't present themselves as being "real". You, my dear, are real and that's why I subscribed to your blog and why I keep coveting your outfits! LOL! Keep your head up and don't listen to them!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Personally...I don't like the blogs that feels like you are looking in a magazine...I like your style...it's something that anyone can pull off & I love how you explain and show your remixing ideas so we can help ourselves. I have learnt alot from your blog & I wish I had discovered these tips a decade ago. Continue to do what you do...all the best

    ReplyDelete
  180. You dress how most of us dress, wearing clothes we can afford and find in local stores. I can't believe how catty and shallow some women can be. This isn't a catwalk, and us normal people are grateful for the time and effort you put into this blog. I know it's hard to ignore the critics but I'm definitely glad to see so many people like your blog as much as I do!! Chin up and keep up the great work for real women.

-Amanda (a long time reader who rarely comments but definitely appreciates you!)

  181. I hope you know, already, how awesome I think you (and your style are) but here's an extra bit to chew on. So one of my very best friends from youth group days texted me recently and said "hey, I saw on your instagram that you're kind of friends with this girl Aubrey and I finally put two and two together and realized she's the one with the blog I've been drooling over. I love her style and want her closet". haha! Seriously. So I felt kind of famous for knowing you (even though we've never actually met in person...which by the way, will hopefully be remedied sometime this year...yes?) :) So in conclusion, I heart you and so do my friends. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  182. Audrey, continue doing you. I love your blog because you're style is practical. There are so many bloggers out there that dress as if they are going out on the town each day. That is not realistic. As a fellow blogger, I love visiting your blog to see what you're wearing and to read what you've written. You, my dear, are quite entertaining, and it's always a pleasure to read your words :) Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  183. Haters gonna hate. Don't let them get to you. Keep being you. I read this blog because you are YOU, not because you are some model in a magazine!

    ReplyDelete
  184. OK, I have now spent an entire 30 seconds on your blog, and can already say with certainty that you are fabulous. Are you fabulous in that super artificial, "looks like barbie and won't check her mail without a full face of makeup, and jogs in high heels" kind of way? Nope. And thank goodness - the internet has enough of that silliness. Instead, you're most definitely like that girl we all want to be friends with because even though she's a total knock-out, she's still willing to get all dusty walking through the fairgrounds with you in the summer. Or eat melty ice cream in a white shirt. So I'll definitely be coming back to see more of you. :)

  185. Audrey, Thank you for taking the time out to "put yourself together" in a way that inspires and encourages those that read your blog to put themselves together. For me, this blog is more than just effortless and attainable cute outfits. Your blog represents that it is important to be grateful for what we have, be good stewards of what we are given, and take the time and effort to look polished and our best, because these things make us feel our best. Your thoughtful conversation inspires me. I think you are super chic, and, more importantly, a super chick!

Audrey - you are doing a great job out here in the blogging world and don't let those haters bring you down! It's too bad there are a few bad apples out there making this blogging community negative. I have only been blogging for a year and do not have the exposure as you do so I have not had any backlash yet but I know it would hurt even though it shouldn't matter. We need to keep this blogging community positive and supportive! Keep doing what you are doing!

  187. Audrey, I don't comment on blogs very often, but I wanted to drop in and give YOU a thank you! I'm returning from the mission field in a few months, and I've been trying to figure out how to update my America wardrobe on a budget to account for all the changes I'll be facing when I return: new fashions (from 2 years ago and totally different from the clothes that I wear where I currently live), new jobs, new mom (when I left America, I had no kids; I'll have 2 when I return!), new city, etc. Your blog has been super helpful to me as I consider how to look put together and how to be a good steward of my resources. I think your style is very cute and very doable! Thanks for sharing.

  188. I know how those days can be....Let me just say I love that you are a normal woman with a normal body and shop at regular stores, like me! I like that I can relate to you, your style and your posts. Thank you for being you and putting it all out there for the regular ladies-like me! I have enjoyed your blog for the last few months because you are you. ;)

  189. You are so optimistic and always looking out for the good in people, and I'm so sorry that someone would go out of their way to dump on you and your blog. You do me a world of good with your good attitude and your simple, classy way of dressing--especially since you work so hard to help all of us who struggle. Thank you for being brave and having this blog, it's one of my favorites! I don't really like fashion blogs, but yours rocks.

Audrey, what I love about you is you are so realistic when it comes to fashion. Yes, high fashion is wonderful and unique and artistic, but you make it fun for us 'normal' people, and you do it with just as much creativity and effort. I would never ever wear some of the things some 'fashion bloggers' wear.. sometimes it's like they think "let me find everything that does not match and put it together to be fashionable'. What I like about you is I can really see myself wearing what you wear.

Like this skirt for instance. I was poised and ready to email you today about a skirt almost exactly like this (mine is solid black) for inspiration.. I just couldn't find anything that I liked to go with it even though I was so in love with the piece. & then here I am, on your blog, looking at a unique, fun, and trendy outfit that isn't just a basic tee with a long flowy skirt. I would have never thought to pair that belt with it, but omg it looks so good! Don't let them get you down at all because you're truly an inspiration to people like me.

& I love that you always show your smile in your pictures too. Keep doing what you're doing!

    Lots of love,
    Stephanie

  192. Hugs Audrey! You are awesome, adorable and a fabulous dresser! Don't believe anyone who says otherwise. Your blog is such a tremendous service and I am so grateful for it. The days I get the most compliments on what I'm wearing are the days when I blatantly copy whatever you wore the day before! :-)

  193. Just started following your blog last week. And I love it!!! You're style is chic to me and I think your "building a remixable wardrobe" articles were so thoughtfully written. the higher you go, the more haters you get. Sigh...
On the other hand, thank you for being practical. Some things that are being blogged about (on other blog sites) are so far out of my pocketbook limits that it is rather impractical to read about. BTW, could you give a general wrap up of what people liked, what people did not like, what people want to see more of or less of from your survey?

    ReplyDelete
  196. Let me just say...I don't know if I've ever commented here, but I certainly enjoy coming here often and seeing your style, styling tips, and your beautiful, friendly smiling face. Your blog feels real (at least more my world real) and welcoming. I'm so glad you are exactly who you are. That's what makes coming here so great. Everyone should blog in the way that feels best for them. I find it totally unnecessary to criticize others and their style. Look at all the "blog friends" you have. You're very blessed and loved. :) I know you know that...but that stuff does still hurt. Hugs.
