Pink, Olive, and Grey

I guess this outfit is totally unhip because it was pretty difficult to find decent links to similar items for almost everything I'm wearing.  It's probably because it's kind of a fall look and we're all supposed to be wearing bright colors and springy dresses, but whatevs.  No worries, springy dresses to come soon, today it's pink animal print!

If you can't tell from the pics, my tee is a really light pink.  I think I saw this color combo once on Wendy from Wendy's Lookbook and it stuck with me.  Olive is a color that kind of baffles me even though I know it shouldn't.  It's a pseudo-neutral which means it goes with a lot of things, yet I still get surprised when I see it with anything besides other neutrals.  I've found that olive goes really well with pink, dark purple, or teal, but for some reason I have a hard time remembering that when I'm staring at my olive pieces!

Do you wear olive?  What color combos (besides neutrals) have you done with olive?

I have the same troubles with olive green as well. I always end up wearing it with other neutral colors (black, white & navy) and tend not to buy too much clothes in olive because I don't know what to do with it. This is a cute combo!

  3. I own ONE olive top that I had to search high and low for - you're right. it's not on trend right now because it's out of season. I'd think it would be all-seasonal because of the camo-inspired theme and because, as you say, it's a neutral. Ah, well! The vagaries of fashion! You're so lucky you've got an olive cardi - so versatile, n'est-ce pas? ;p

  4. I have some olive skinny cargos. I've paired them with a bright pink tee, mustard sweatshirt, and a mulberry sweater. I think it might be easier to remix olive pants than a top?

  5. I love olive! I have paired it with a lot of different colours. Just did one the other day that was actually 2 shades together. It looks great with the light pink and grey.

  6. You are so adorable, Audrey! I could easily see your olive cardi integrated into your summer wardrobe by wearing it over a girly floral tank top. Who says it's ONLY a fall color?? :)

The scarf looks great on you too! I love that you transformed it into a loop scarf!

  10. I like to think of Olive as a real neutral. I have several olive pieces and have had great fun styling them, but my fave combo will always be olive and white. especially white lace. So beautiful! x

  11. I'm starting to love olive - I have two jackets and a skirt now. I have worn it with other neutrals too, but also with lime green, coral and mustard. Will have to try pink, dark purple and teal next! Here's a post where I wore the jacket 5 ways - http://www.kiwiwomensstyle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/take-5-olive-military-jacket.html xxx

  13. I love these pants! I really wanted a good pair of grey denim but couldn't find any that fit me properly, and now I think they are out of season (in stores at least!). I also really like that scarf, I think it would be such a versatile piece!

  16. Audrey, that olive color looks absolutely spectacular on you. It brings out your face really well. Actually, I would love to see the same outfit with black pants, to help the olive pop more. And for bonus points, I can totally see you working some kind of metallic in there too. Maybe some gold or silver shoes?

  17. looks great! I have an olive blazer and love to accessorize with bright coral coloured necklaces/scarves - black flats or boots for a more fallish look would have also looked good with this outfit. I saw this tutorial and thought of you, wavy/curls would look beautiful on you!!! http://ladyartlooks.com/2011/12/27/short-hair-style-flat-iron-curl/

This is a color combo we styled at GAP recently! Olive khakis, a white tank, baby pink cardi & a animal print scarf. TOO CUTE!

  20. I like this look, but I was expecting a pop of hot pink. For some reason, I think it would be fun to do a really bright pink tee with this, or pink flats? Loving that scarf!

  21. Thanks for the link! I've experimented with something like that a few times but I'm never sure if it looks right or not. I'm gonna try to get one of my hairstylist friends to teach me!

  27. Hello Audrey! I just found your site about a week ago and I love it! My husband says I am obsessed with you. Lol. Quick question, I am 5'10 and 6'3" with heels. When I put together even the simpliest outfits I always seem to look overdressed. Is there anything I can do to make me look less dressed up all the time? Also any wardrobe advice for a tall top heavy apple shape? More so in the color/shape department?

  28. Haha! For your questions on fit and color, if you check out the Wardrobe From Scratch Case Study on Leanna she is top heavy with thin limbs. Though she is petite you can use the same principles I wrote there about balancing out her body. Other than that if you need more tailored advice I can be hired for styling services! Email me if you feel like you want that. Good luck!

  29. Olive is my absolute favorite color. It used to be hard to find. then in the last couple of years it became trendy again, and I'm so glad. I like to wear it with red. Olive dress with red sweater or red sandals, for example. Or olive top with red necklace.
