I've had such a huge crush on this look from Wendy's Lookbook since I pinned it a year ago. I don't even know why I'm bothering to show you guys my version since I just copied hers completely! But eh, here it is.
Somehow between Sorren and Wendy posting multiple looks with striped blazers I became obsessed last summer. Blazers? Stripes? Two of my favorite things in one piece! When I bought this nearly a year ago it was hard to find striped blazers, but I guess they're somewhat "in" now since I'm seeing them in more chain stores now. (See links below for shopping options.) I love having the polished look of a blazer but amped up a bit with a pattern. So far I've only worn it with a different colored solid bottom and a dark plain tee/tank underneath (like here). I'm sure there are more creative ways to wear it. Any ideas? Would you wear a striped blazer? Besides a solid colored bottom and a plain dark tee underneath how else would you style it?

Ohh the possibilities are endless with a striped blazer! I have had some fun layering mine with polka-dots underneath. You could also layer plaid (button down shirt) or animal print underneath if you aren't afraid of being too adventurous with pattern mixing! Or you could layer a solid underneath and pattern mix on the bottom..I'm thinking leopard skinnies, floral skinnies, or poilka dot skinnies could all be fun combos :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, any of those patterns in a dress or skirt mixed with the striped blazer would be such pretty feminine options as well.
Two words: pattern mixing! Pair it with a floral top or dress for a fresh look, like Tanesha did here:

Or wear it over one of your black & white polka dot shirts with colored bottoms. Or pair it with another black & white stripe - just go with a significantly different SIZE of stripe.
Oh, I see Morgan beat me to it!
I love striped blazers when I see them too, but I'm not ever sure what to wear them with. I mean, it seems pretty simple, right? Jeans, colored denim, colored pencil skirts.. but I have no colored denim (and my thighs warrant that no colored denim ever disgrace them), and I guess it doesn't help that the last time I tried on a striped blazer, my husband went "Ugh." What's wrong with striped blazers? THEY ARE CUTE. What do boys know?
ReplyDeleteAnyway. I really love this outfit on you. :) Even more than Wendy's outfit, because of the necklace. :)
i've seen these all over the place and you've done a great job styling this casually!
ReplyDeletekw, ladies in navy
I need more ideas for my blazer too! It's navy with white stripes. I like that yours is mostly white with black stripes because I think it gives you more options with bottoms (because of the lighter color).
ReplyDeleteOh, too serendipitous! I'm a Wendy stalker AND just posted my version of a striped blazer on my blog. (Inserting shameless self-promotion here: http://myclosetcatalogue.blogspot.com/2013/02/day-6-black-and-white-part-deux.html)
ReplyDeleteGranted, I was following a strict Black and White theme this week so no gorj cobalt blue for me, but I do recall purchasing my striped blazer based on a Wendy ensemble too. :)
I just saw a striped blazer in T.J. Maxx the other day and almost bought it...now I wish I would have! Maybe pair it with a floral dress or another muted pattern? I love the color pants with though!
ReplyDeletestripe blazer with a polka dot shirt look great
ReplyDeleteLove this look!
ReplyDeleteI styled mine last week with black skinnies and a graphic tee!

i wore mine the exact same way yesterday except with a black tank to go with my cobalt skinnies
ReplyDeleteI really really really really want a striped blazer, but I'm holding off until I find "THE ONE" that I pinned on Pinterest ages ago of a grey and white striped blazer (http://pinterest.com/pin/182818066093647283/) but everywhere I look it's all black and white striped blazers or navy and white striped blazers, NO GREY. And I'd probably wear it with a solid tee underneath because I'm not creative, lol.
ReplyDeleteI think this blazer would look great with either a solid or a floral-print dress and cute heels! And it's official, I now need a striped blazer.
ReplyDeleteI like the look, but I am also not shy of color. My humble suggestion is to mix it up by replacing the solid tee with a floral pattern shirt, but not just any pattern, color: same blue as jeans with a second complemtary color, say blue and a cherry red, or blue and yellow- size of pattern: medium to small
ReplyDeleteThat blazer is beautiful!!! The second link I posted for blazers is a darker grey one from Old Navy--not nearly as pretty as the one you showed, but I like the grey base too.
ReplyDeleteGreat look with the striped blazer!! Ironically I'm wearing mine with blue jeans today too. haha.. :)

I got this same blazer a little bit after I saw you post it this summer! I'm so glad I did. Here are some different ways I've worn it (lace top, red tee, pink shirt, print dress). I love the idea of pairing it with a solid black top and bright bottoms!

Kimmie - I can't see the blazer you pinned (I keep getting an error) but I saw this gray & white blazer on sale at the Gap:

Love this look on you! How about trying it with a patterned skirt or dess?
ReplyDeleteHi Selah, it's here: http://media-cache-lt0.pinterest.com/550x/80/a2/79/80a2795b5191609060ea8b2bc2870876.jpg and I can't for the life of me figure out the original website/blog that it's from. Thanks for the Gap blazer link, that's totally cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be super-cute over a floral dress!

with a black and white polka dotted blouse, perhaps!
ReplyDeleteI love this look, even if it's copied. We have to get inspiration from somewhere right?

Oh, that is pretty! I also saw this one 33% off at Nordstrom (free shipping & free returns!)

I love striped blazers!

I also meant to say that Dressbarn has colored skinny jeans that are cut for Misses and Women's sizes, rather than the low rise Junior cut that most seem to come in. I have an eggplant pair that are awesome! Here's a link to their cobalt pair:

Oooh! that is super cute, but I'm wary of the petite sizing since they always end up being too short on me. It looks like the regular sized one is even cheaper but are sold out of the grey/cream stripe :( Oh well. Thanks for looking, Selah!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I'm a "cusp" size, meaning I can wear Misses 14, 16, and 18 and also Women's 14W and 16W. Sometimes is difficult to know which size will fit best. Since Nordstrom has the free shipping AND free returns you could try the Petite.
ReplyDeleteI've been wavering between buying a striped blazer and ended up buying a polka dotted one instead. I've only worn it once so far but I love it.
ReplyDeletePair it with something floral, for sure!
ReplyDeleteA polka dot top...or even polka dot jeans (dark ones with small white dots). A bright shirt and a floral skirt. A henley shirt, unbuttoned with a necklace hanging in the opening. A shirt with a vertical ruffle or other pretty bib design. Go crazy, girl!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great blazer! Tara at Mix and Match fashion has a similar one and she styled it with a great coral dress, which I loved. I have a similar one and styled it with a crisp white button down and coral mini skirt, I really liked that too.

I love striped blazers too...maybe a little too much (I am not even sure how many I own). I recently did a post with one of my striped jackets with a polka dot dress and really liked how it turned out.

I pinned that same pic too! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love, love, LOVE this! I've had a striped blazer on my wish list since I saw you wear yours last year. It is a nice, versatile statement piece. I'm boring and would wear it with solid bottoms and a neutral or fun colored top, but you could wear it over a colorful dress or with a colorful skirt, too. Maybe with a floral scarf for some pattern mixing?
ReplyDeleteYour blazer is great! It fits you perfectly!! Do you have camo skinnies? I know they are huge right now and I bet would be a crazy fun look. Or maybe some subtle polka dot shirt? Or a lace shirt? Good luck...can't wait to see this jacket more!

I actually did a post last year about different ways to wear striped blazers. It's one of my most popular posts! I also love to pair mine with polka dots.
ReplyDeleteWendy wears everything so well but this look is just as lovely on you Audrey! :) I fell in love with the striped blazer look after seeing it on OP here. You could also try stripes and polka dots.

I love this look! I think with the striped blazer getting so popular now, like you said, there are a lot more options out there.
ReplyDeleteOn a separate note, sometimes it is interesting that one blogger refers/credits to another blogger's look on the site. It's always like you feel like you have to now these days, otherwise you would be 'targeted' to be a copycat if you somehow don't credit the look on the blog? It's quite well known that there is a petite blogger who has been accused of copying other bloggers' looks and sites for years. How do you feel about that?
Just found your blog today. Love all the tips and suggestions!
ReplyDeleteI love pairing my striped blazer with printed dresses!

Here&Now
Love it! I just got a polka dot blazer that I wore over a vintage Star Wars t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteI actually didn't know much about the petite blogger stuff until I read Fran post this: http://franish.blogspot.com/2013/02/on-blogging-etiquette.html. I don't really follow Jean's blog, though I look at it once in a while, and I'd never heard of the other blog.
ReplyDeletePersonally I always appreciate it when someone gives me a shout out so I like to do it for others, especially if I'm copying their outfit directly. I don't do it out of worry that I'll be "targeted" so much as I appreciate it when someone else does it for me, so of course I want to do it for others! :)
I LOVE this look!!! I have the same pieces and am looking forward to putting it together!!!
