You might remember me talking about being away at a work conference. I got back Sunday evening and took most of yesterday off to collect myself again. I wish I could tell you that I did glamorous things like lounged at the beach since it was a perfect 72 degrees, but I'm lame. Instead I got my tires replaced, grocery shopped, whittled away at the 160 emails in my inbox, and ran errands at Target (read: shopping spree). Honestly, I just can't relax when the rest of my life is out of order or rather, I feel more relaxed when my life is in order than when I lounge around somewhere.
Anyway, by some miracle I managed to not shop at all in February. But you'd better believe that the second March came I definitely hit up H&M and the day after I returned from my work conference I took a trip to Target. Cuz people, if you don't know, spring is in the air here, and it's also in the stores! I bought a lot of stuff at Target, most of which I will probably (hopefully!!!) return if I can exercise some reason and restraint, but I'll show you what I was looking at and what pieces I'm trying to fill my closet with soon. For today, you just get another Kendi copycat outfit. Not unlike most of my outfits. :)
Back to the relaxing thing, what's your method of relaxation? Do you need your "life stuff" to be somewhat in order before you can actually feel like you can relax, or can you go straight to relaxing?

My favorite way to relax is with a glass of wine and a book. I can usually drop what I'm doing to relax. Love this maxi and blazer combo!

Love this maxi! And it looks beautiful paired with a navy blazer.
ReplyDeleteGoodness yes! I can totally relate to you. I'm trying to work on prioritizing relaxation because, with a toddler the to do list is never ever done. Before it was just never done but now it's never ever! :-) Love, love, love your blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit. Gorgeous. I like to take baths and do yoga to relax.

I'm with you - I can't relax if my life is in disarray!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is BEAUTIFUL! I have to admit, sometimes if the style you post that isn't exactly 'me', I still scroll down in my reader to see what you said below. Why? Because what you have to say or explain is often just as enlightening as the photo.
ReplyDeleteI am a Type A++ personality, and I cannot feel relaxed until my to-do list is all crossed off for the day - sometimes I cheat and even start crossing off items scheduled for other days. haha. It's a disease and doesn't make me the easiest person to be around, but it does make for an orderly life.
ReplyDeleteThat said, can't wait to see what you scored at Target - I need to browse there bc it's been a while!
love the blazer over the maxi dress, great way to remix it!!

I have a hard time relaxing when my house isn't clean. Since living with my boyfriend my standards have relaxed a little, but this weekend we did a big cleaning to get ready for guests and the house felt soooo much better. I was like, "Oh yeah, NOW I can REALLY relax."
ReplyDeleteI designate times of day for my various "to do" items. So, if I'm done with what needs to be done for right now, I can relax. I love to curl up in our La-Z-Boy with a book and a beverage (coffee, hot chocolate, and hard cider are my top picks).
ReplyDeleteFound you courtesy of Pinterest. :-) Love all the tips! You've given me that little kick of inspiration I needed to spruce up my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI can relax any time, anywhere. I love to relax. My husband has to have things clean before he can relax. It's funny. I'm relaxing right now, actually, before I have to go assemble a lasagna for dinner tonight!
For SURE I need my life/home in order to relax!! I homeschool our 4 young kids and my hubby works from home some days...having all 6 of us at home many days means lots of disorganized rooms...I get one set, and another one is a mess, on and on and on...I LOVE the peace I get from a totally clean and picked up house! There is absolutely no way I can relax until I've done what I think is important!
ReplyDeletei'm wearing a similar outfit today at work!
ReplyDeleteAnd i definitely can't relax until my life is in order. the hubs doesn't get it, but that's just how it is for me.
I can't relax if my life is in chaos either. Especially my house. I can't chill on the couch if I look around and see a gross house!
ReplyDeleteI recently pinned a quote that sums up my relaxation strategy: "I have so much to do that I am going to bed." I have no problem taking a breather when things are crazy! Which is why I'm clearing out my reader right now instead of doing housework.
ReplyDeleteLove the relaxed put together look! I just want to sit on the cough with out having to get up or keep an eye on the toddler :)
ReplyDeleteYes, please show us your Target haul while we can still get it! I was just there and got some cute coral sandals, and a coral fedora hat. Now, just to convince myself to wear it!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what you purchased and your reasoning behind keeping or returning. I always think its so interesting to see how people think about making purchases.
ReplyDeleteNo relaxing for me until all jobs are done. That's what my mum taught me anyhow. Wish my students could be taught the same.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, am giddy to see one of my fave bloggers synching with me today, even if only in spirit. Over on my humble fledgling blog, I've dubbed this week's theme Maxi Skirt Week! We totally match! Maybe it's coz we both live in So. Cal? Can we say warming trend?!

I completely relate to the "life stuff" being in order before I can allow myself to relax. I can't stand being in a dirty or cluttered apartment, I have to have emails answered, laundry folded and put away, homework completed, etc. If I don't, I feel so guilty!!
ReplyDeleteI need things to be in order to relax too. I can't study with "clutter" or I just get the cleaning itch when I need to sit down and focus.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this! A laid back maxi paired with a serious blazer is genius!!!!

Hi Audrey, great way to wear a maxi with a blazer. I totally need to clear my hand from a hard days work before I can get in to relax mode. The first thing I usually do is make myself a cup of herbal tea to just set the mood. Always works :-)
ReplyDeleteLoveee your dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat blue dress is so pretty on you, and I love it with the blazer! And a Target trip sounds like the perfect way to spend a day off :)

The Other Side of Gray
Love this outfit! Maxi + blazer is a great combo :) Also - I think I need to get a large portion of my 'to do' list done before I can truly relax. Otherwise I just stress out and my mind races!
ReplyDeleteI like the color combo you chose in this post. I can definitely relate. As much as I would like to lounge around and rest, I can't because I can't stop thinking about all of the things I should be doing and feel stressed and guilty. It feels good to get things checked off the to-do list sometimes too!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite outfits from you pretty lady! I love the colors & the mix of structured and relaxed

love this! i just bought a maxi dress last weekend and was wondering how it would look w/ a blazer...
ReplyDeleteOh, I am the same way! If my life isn't in order I feel completely guilty while relaxing, which isn't relaxing at all!!! I'm so glad it's Spring too! Ready for some warmer weather outfits!
ReplyDeleteLove this look, and love maxi's too! Bu I have to ask, you look very smooth, is your tummy that perfectly flat or are you wearing a certain garment under? Spanx is so hot for the summer but I find the need for something for my middle with a few of my maxis. LOVE all your outfits!
ReplyDeleteHi Daisy! To answer your question, I'm not wearing spanx or anything like that.
