No Harm Done

Blue blazer!  I think I want one in every color, but that seems a little excessive huh?  Though, a vibrant green one would be siiiiick.

As excited as I am about this blue blazer, I'm not sure how I feel about this outfit.  It's not that I don't like it.  I think it might be great on someone else, but it doesn't quite feel like me.  You know that oomph that you feel when an outfit brings out your best?  Yeah, didn't have that here.  I think it has too much stuff going on for me.  Like, lace, leopard, a bubble necklace, a colored blazer--I'm usually a little more simple than that, and (I think) I don't usually have as many trendy-ish things going on at once.  But at least it was fun to give it a shot.

Sometimes I hear people say stuff like "I'm too scared to try ____ because I'm worried it will look horrible on me."  Skinny jeans, floral patterns, dresses, colored pants, the color yellow.  Fill in your own blank.  But how will you know if you don't even try?  I'm *not* a risk-taker, but I'm learning to be more at peace with trying something new and realizing the world will not fall apart if it doesn't go well.   Especially when it comes to clothes...I'm pretty sure the world will not end if something doesn't look good on me.  Or you.  :)  So at least give it a shot in a dressing room, and if it indeed does look horrible then sigh in relief that the world still stands, recognize that it's not because you look horrible but that the garment just isn't right for you, then take it off and move on to finding a piece that looks killer on you.  No harm done, right?  None.  But instead, you are one step closer to finding your inner (and outer) awesomeness.

Well I think you LOOK great! But I know what you mean- Personally, if I'm not in love with something and I don't get that oomph feeling then I know I won't wear it in the future. Returns were made for a reason! :)

  3. I think the bright blazer and lace are so pretty! Maybe a different necklace would make you like the outfit more? Or having the roll on the bottom of your jeans be a little more messy? I like it though!

  4. I have a question unrelated to your post. I finally found a mustard cardigan after searching all fall and winter! Can I wear it in Spring?

  5. i absolutely know what you mean. Sometimes I get excited about pieces and try to wear several favorites together, but it is way too much for me and my simple style so I find myself doing some editing. For instance, I was at Target yesterday spending a gift card and I got a white lace shirt (FINALLY!!) and a full striped skirt (with pockets!) and wanted to wear them together today...but it was just too detailed/not simple enough. So I wore a dress and boots instead, with limited accessories, because that's much more "me."

I love that you are willing to try things out of your comfort zone, though. That's how we find new things that eventually become favorites! For instance, I thought I was "too curvy" for skinny jeans several years ago, but after finding pairs that fit me and flatter me, they're my go-to! :)

  6. I think you look great because you can rock nearly anything, but this outfit is not the most flattering on you. When I look at it, the shape of the blazer + the shape of the jeans gives an overall impression of one long blue rectangle. Darker jeans or skinny jeans might make a difference. :)

  7. I love the blazer, but this outfit isn't one of my favourites that I've seen on you. I think it's the bubble necklace that isn't my fave. Cute shoes!

  8. You look great, Audrey—and I admire how in tune you are with what feels like you or not.

Also, I tried to send you an email to ask about advertising rates and other ways to sponsor your blog, but the email came back as undeliverable. What's the best way to contact you?

  9. Maybe a grey or stripped top underneath the blazer would be softer than the bright white against the blue, great blazer :-)

  14. The outfit looks great, though your cute mint shoes may have been better for this outfit if you feel like it's too much. The top half is amazing, so maybe changing out the shoes would have been the "fix" you needed!

  15. I love the top half of this outfit--especially the blazer and necklace color combination. Your thoughts on taking risks in our wardrobes are spot-on and much needed. Thanks for sharing your observations!

PS: I am on a secret mission to own cardigans in every color of the rainbow (or at least most of them), so I completely understand your desire to amass a collection of brightly hued blazers. Living in Phoenix, however, blazers are just too hot for me. ; )

  16. Great suggestion! I second that, and would like to recommend darker jeans or brightly-colored slacks instead (but you still look great).

  17. I think this is a great outft. I totally agree with you though, how do you know if it looks good on you, until you try it on.

I think the blazer is fantastic! I love the top half of this outfit. While I think the whole look is quite wearable, I'd maybe switch the pants out for some dark (maybe black) skinnies or something similar. Just cause the 3/4 cuff on the jeans sections your legs up and makes the outfit 'busy'. But with a plainer pant, the attention would go solely to the top half, with a sneaky leopard pop at your feet.

I actually LOVE this look!!! But I know what you mean about it not being you....I am the same way when I wear simpler looks. For some reason, I feel like I have to mix patterns, colors...etc...maybe we can feed off of each other!! I think you look super cute!!

  20. Honestly, this is one of my favorite outfits I've seen you wear. You look amazing!!
