Twinsies

Feel like you've seen this before?  Yep, same outfit as in the post on How to Roll Up Layered Sleeves. After all of that, if anyone asks me how I rolled up my sleeves in this post without the bunching...

Muahaha!

Okay anyway, while B and I walked around the hospital to visit our friends' newborn I noticed we were kind of dressed the same.  Me in this and him in orange/blue plaid and dark jeans.  Not exactly the same--we've been exact twins more times than I care to admit--but similar enough that I got self-conscious.  I frigging HATE matching my husband!  He thinks it's hilarious, mostly because I hate it so much.  I also hate matching my brother, who revels in it.  For some reason I actually like accidentally matching other people, like our friends, but I HATE it when it's the two people closest to me, my husband and my brother.  Maybe I have intimacy issues.  Ha!  Is that just me?!  Does it bother you when you accidentally match your significant other or your sibling?  What about matching other people?

  1. That is too funny! For Christmas Eve, as a joke I put on a coral striped sweater because my husband was wearing his orange striped shirt. Also, love this outfit; I've worn a similar one myself (just not today; don't worry! :) )

  3. I don't mind it but it's funny when we are on the same page like that. Heading out the door, I often look at him and think "that's cute. We match!" :)

My sister and I match all the time and we both hate it. We even end up buying the exact same items of clothing without knowing it. We once planed on wearing the exact same dress to the same event, but luckily she sent me a pic of the dress before the event. That would have been a disaster since we look so much alike that people mistake us for twins as it is.

  6. With me it's matching my kids- and I'm the one who picks their clothes!! It happens accidently and then I notice as I'm walking them into school. People totally think it's on purpose and I swear it's not!

  7. I match my husband quite often too. We work at the same company and commute together. I don't usually even notice we are wearing the exact same color shirt until someone sees us together and points it out. Everyone swears we do it on purpose, but in reality, it just happens. By the time he is getting dressed, I'm already dressed and in a different room taking care of the dogs. I don't mind matching him so much, it just bugs me that everyone thinks we would intentionally dress alike. Hasn't anyone ever heard of chance??

  8. Hahaha that's funny that you hate matching so much! My friend purposely tries to get her bf to match what she's wearing (mostly I think as a way to get him ready faster because he usually denies matching her and then throws something else on!) Anyway... super cute outfit and I love your flats!

  9. I HATE HATE HATE matching anyone in any way - however, I have this really bad habit of copying my husband or child's outfits on a regular basis, all without realizing it until we are out the door. Who knows what Freud would have to say about that...

  10. I just hate matching my husband because I'm afraid that either others will think we intentionally tried to coordinate, or I'm just afraid of looking like we came out of a JCPenney catalog (nothing wrong with JCP-- I just vividly remember their massive catalogs growing up and everyone looked so matchy-matchy).

  11. I think matching Hubby (or at least wearing complementary outfits) is fun. We do it for dress-up events mostly: we share a color between our outfits, like the jewelry I wear with my black dress matches the color of his shirt, or something like that. I'm not sure I'd like going so far as twinsies.... I did it by accident with friends in college sometimes, like Lisa said--we had the same pieces without realizing it, and sometimes we'd show up to events wearing the same shirt. It happens.

  12. I don't mind coordinating with my husband or kids but I HATE matching. I pick my outfits out at night and hang them where my husband can't miss them. This usually prevents us from matching. I pick out my kids clothes, with their input, so it's easy to avoid matching. I will admit to occasionally dressing my kids to match each other. They're still little enough that they like it. :)

  13. Normally I don't like to match my husband (we already look too much like siblings) but every once in a while I like to do it to see if anyone notices. The last time I did it was last fall when we were greeters at church and out of the hundred people we greeted that day, probably only one or two noticed. So I figure that's good news for when we match unintentionally!

  14. I'm with Kate, my biggest problem with matching my fiancé is that I worry people will think we're matching on purpose. In general, I just don't like matching with anybody. As kids (actually until we made it to high school, sadly) my twin sister and I were frequently dressed in the exact same outfit, but different colors, or different outfits of the same color. For a long time, one of us would change our outfit if we thought they were too similar. Maybe it's a deep-seeded matching problem, who knows. I love your outfit though! A cardigan with plaid button-up is one of my favorite combinations :)

  15. It's so funny that you mention this... My husband and I have pretty different taste, but we still manage to get some of the same type of clothes... Once we got married and moved in together, it didn't happen quite so frequently, but there were definitely times that one of us would show up at the others house for a date night dressed identically... stripes and jeans, same color shirt... It drives me insane, but it's okay. Mostly we totally do it without realizing it. And we're both stubborn, so we would both refuse to change and even argue about who thought out their outfit first. All in good fun, though. :D Glad we're not the only ones!

  16. Hehe its only happened once - the day after my fiancé asked me out, so everyone thought we'd done it on purpose and mocked us tirelessly all day! We both turned up to class in green striped tops, completely by coincidence! I've kept the top as a memento now :)
As a child with a sister 18mo younger we were put in matching clothes all the time. It bothers me now if I match with her, but I'm not really bothered if I match my partner

  17. I don't like matching my husband in general. In the States, we both wear lots of neutrals, so sometimes it happens unintentionally. In Africa, we have a few matching outfits, because that's a big thing there. We can almost never manage to coordinate wearing them on the same day, though.

  18. I love the colors in your plaid top!

  19. LOL, I'm the SAME way! My mom and I tend to match a lot, and its always when I'm visiting at home and have no other options to change in to. Its SO weird and annoying! And my ex and I used to match sometimes, but thankfully I could just put on something cuter and go!

  20. I used to hate it and just thought it was too mushy, but my hubby intentionally tried to match me sometimes, and now I just think it's sweet, like he is trying to compliment me.

  21. When my husband and I were dating (years ago!) there was a couple at his church who frequently and purposely dressed alike, and we thought it was the lamest thing ever! Sometimes we accidentally wear similar colors and stuff and we always mention that couple!

  22. It's been quite a while since I've matched someone mistakenly or on purpose but I'm not really a fan

  23. My mother and I match all the time. Also seem to match the pastor on Sundays...I'm the worship leader. Mm hmmmm. Now does matching your husband seem so bad?

  24. I don't ever match my husband. I think it's because we have totally different taste in clothes (he rarely wears anything but T-shirts and jeans) and even in colors. But it totally bothers me when I wear the same clothes as my co-worker, whom I strongly dislike. :)

  25. I know a couple who PLANS to match (she calls it "coordinate") every darn day. How 'bout that?

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's funny how many people dress the same at work. For example, tan trousers and green top, or black pants and mauve sweaters. Sometimes it ends up being purple day. We all just laugh!

  27. You are so cute. This totally reminds me of junior high, when my best friend and I would call each other at night (or AIM each other, haha) and plan out what we were going to wear. We even would go shopping together and buy the same clothes (or the same Old Navy logo tee in different colors). We'd get really mad if other people tried to get in on our matchiness.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's what I *don't* want to be mistaken for! haha

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yikes! I could see why that would bother you. Stash a change of clothes at work for a "just in case" day? :)

  30. My boyfriend and I accidentally match all the time. Now it was nice when we were going to a friends wedding so our pictures looked nice, but in general we get a good laugh about it. Even the other day he came over so we could take our dog for a long walk and were both wearing long sleeve black t-shirts. It happens... Guess we were meant to be!

  31. I LOVE matching my husband!! I think it's adorable. So, yep, you have issues! I love these two tops paired together.

  32. I hate matching my husband, too! It feels so cheesy and yuppie :D I love your clutch so much - it looks like it would go with every outfit!

My husband and I do that all the time (unintentionally of course)! I call us "date mates," when that little mistake occurs. It's a pet peeve of mine hahahaha! Love the clutch and the ballet flats! You're so cute!

  34. Well there was the time I was dressed like a total dork in a Pacman t-shirt. My husband and I left the house before I noticed he was dressed like a total dork in a Pacman t-shirt. We went to the VW dealership kinda embarrassed and noticed another guy in a Pacman t-shirt... Worst embarrassing outfit ever...

  36. I actually like to match my boyfriend sometimes. For instance, two years ago we went to a wedding and he wore a suit with a green tie with royal blue dots. I wore a royal blue dress and accented it with peacock colors-- brown and green. Recently, we celebrated our 6 year anniversary and I wore a polka dot shift dress with royal blue and kelly green. He wore a white button up with a blue and green grid pattern and a navy blue blazer. It looks great in pictures! (I've seen FLOTUS and Bo do this, also.)

  37. My husband and I matched, coincidently, for our son's second birthday party. I had picked out my outfit days before and he pops out of the shower and into the same exact color shirt/jeans that I was wearing. And then refused to change his clothes even after begging and pleading with him. Needless to say, we don't have any pictures with us together from that day.

  38. Hahaha....I KEEL YOU..I'm laughing out loud! My hubby and I sometimes leave the house matching without even noticing until someone else points it out. It usually sounds like this "Awwww, how cute, you guys match!" It's usually a black or white T/V neck and dark jeans...it's about the only thing that we could match if we tried. :)

  41. My hubby absolutely hates to match me. We're stretching it when we sort of coordinate for family photos. Once, an acquaintance and I wore the exact same dress to a wedding. It wasn't that big of a wedding, so it was noticeable. She looked better in it than I did. =/
