Neutrals. Is it weird that an outfit of ALL neutrals kinda terrifies me? Fear of boring. Don't get me wrong, I *love* them on other people, but when I put one on I get a little scared. I'd rather rely on a pop of color, a little print, or a statement necklace to trick you into thinking I've got an ounce of style. But without those, what's a girl to do? One thing I've learned from Stacy and Clinton: textures! Play with textures. I traded the usual colored flats, splash of print, or statement necklace for textures like faux leather, suede booties, or some texturing on the sweater. I actually didn't even realize this outfit was all neutrals until after the fact, thanks to all that. Are you more scared of an outfit of all neutrals or one with a lot of color?

I really should find a jacket like that! You're neutrals are so chic.
ReplyDeleteI actually have to keep myself from wearing full neutral outfits, and focus on adding color to my looks. With that being said, I adore your jacket!!
ReplyDeleteI have always thought the same way and wouldn't put together a neutrals outfit for fear of boring. I also admire neutrals outfits on others because it can look classy & simple. I tried a few times to copy neutrals outfits and pretend it's comfortable but I always succumb to finishing dressing by throwing one of my many bright handbags over my shoulder! I'll remember the texture tip next time.
ReplyDeleteI love all neutrals and colour! They both have a place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteLove this combo of yours, that jacket is amazing.

One with lots of colour, more so one with different patterns together. I cannot bring myself to putting different (opposing if you like) together. Blogging has start getting me thinking about it though... just thinking at the moment lol

ReplyDeleteThis outfit is understated, chic, and easy! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOooo, that necklace is so cool!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely more "scared" of color. I LOVE color, but neutrals are basically failproof, whereas color can go wrong, in my opinion! I like the tip about using texture to add interest to a neutral outfit, though.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing I love more than all neutrals--I think it's super sophisticated. For a pop of color I usually do bright nails or a fun lip stain.

HOT! One of your best outfits to date!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit, especially the jacket! I've been looking for a good cognac jacket for a while now.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! What color is your belt, and where did you get it? I don't have the same stores nearby, so I have been trying to find some cognac colored belts. Which I am wondering if that's the color of your belt in the picture. Anyone else know where to find them? Thanks!
ReplyDeletelove your knit top and necklace!!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely terrified by color, but love and feel powerful in a neutral outfit. BTW, you nailed it with the leather jacket and chunky sweater!

I don't own so much neutral to begin with (so I guess that answers the question...) so it is difficult to have an all neutral outfit. I've recently dared wearing monochromatic outfits, especially all or mostly black. I know that it can look good and I often admire those outfits on other people but I don't know I just feel weird when I'm not wearing colour. Although I've been happy with the outfits I've worn before.
